A Perfectly Reasonable Amount of Schadenfreude about Things Happening to Trump & His Enablers (Part 2)

Former NRA executive pleads guilty to fraud, agrees to testify in New York AG trial

“Powell breached his fiduciary duties and failed to administer the charitable assets entrusted to his care by using his powers as an officer and senior executive of the NRA to convert charitable assets for his own benefit and for the benefit of his family members,”

Wow, are we going to see that fucker LaPierre in jail? I’m not sure how he’s going to reconcile this with a commitment to refuse to give up his weapons until they are pried from his cold dead hands.

I’ve got my fingers crossed.

I almost hope that it’s no prison time - but a felony. Then he cannot own firearms, and his own family members have an obligation to ensure that he does not have access to their firearms because it would be illegal and dangerous.

I don’t think a guy like that would give a shit if his guns were legal or not.

He’d probably double down on having guns, as a patriot.

In this post-Trump era, I can see MAGAt money taking a LaPierre weapons ban through a series of appeals and eventually to the Supreme Court, which can be fully expected to rule than a weapons ban for convicted felons is unconstitutional. Seriously, especially after the Heller ruling, would this really surprise anyone?

On the bright side, both Canada and Mexico would finally be paying for a border wall.

If that’s his view of the matter after a felony conviction, an ATF agent removing his firearms from his cold dead hands seems like an outcome consistent with all perspectives.

Don’t think this needs any further comment …

I mean, that can’t be real, can it? I’m flabberghasted.

Actuality, I wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t care about guns at all. It’s quite possible that the NEA was just a vehicle to enrich himself.

On behalf of educators everywhere, I demand that you write “I will double-check my posts” 50 times on the chalkboard.

I just assumed it stood for “National Enrichment Association”.

The thought did cross my mind.

A person who really cares about a cause would probably not ransack and literally bankrupt the organization that supposedly advances that cause.

I think it is, more discussion:

Seriously? Wow.

For the record, I really wasn’t sure if I should believe that. It’s genuinely, hollywood comedy-level weird.

I don’t think they’re deep fakes.

He’s said some other really bizarre shit along those lines before. It’s not like this is unprecedented. It’s just new.

Injecting bleach, weird theories about windmills, stupid anachronisms like airports during the Revolutionary War…

You both owe royalties to the character of Vila Restal on Blake’s 7.

As his duly designated representative, I’ll take said royalties in small, unmarked bills sent to the following address…

Was his surname in the show? Next you’ll be telling me that we know Blake’s first name*.

*apparently we do, but I don’t recall that in the show either

Josh Hawley, the senator infamous for his raised fist encouraging the Jan 6 insurrectionists – and then running like a scared rabbit when they actually stormed the Capitol – was soundly trashed in an editorial in the St. Louis Post Dispatch, his hometown paper. The editorial calls him out as a significant contributor to the riot by being the first senator to align himself with the orange gas-bag on the election lies, promulgating the lies and getting other Republican senators to coalesce around the claims…

Lauren Boebert got into an argument with her ex-husband at some restaurant last night. He is considering pressing charges.

I guess you could say that for Ms Boebert, things… uh… well, they got out of hand.
