Looks like someone just found out for the first time in his life that the defense goes first in closing.
Usually when the Orange Turd is told some basic fact that had never previously penetrated his unfathomable ignorance, his bloviations are phrased like this: “many people don’t know that …”. Which is code for “someone just told me this thing I never knew before”. His obliviousness to the fact that normal people have known about this thing, whatever it was, since they were around six years old would be rather charming if he wasn’t such a totally malignant asshole.
Well, in fairness, not everyone knows that in New York State, the defense always goes first. I didn’t know that until recently.
However, I would think that Trump’s lawyers would have outlined how a criminal trial works from start to finish before things got going, and then reminded him as each stage progressed. Naturally, who goes first with summations would be part of all that.
I suspect that Trump’s lawyers did just as I described above, but Trump being Trump, either forgot it all, or refused to believe it until he had no other choice but to believe it.
It may not be allowable under NY law but I say let them pick whatever order they want. I don’t think it’s going to help.
I didn’t, either, but the fact that the party that has the burden of proof goes last is still the tradition in my experience. What’s different is that the prosecution doesn’t begin. But they respond after the defense gives their closing. The prosecution going last is the same.
I wonder if Trump could survive without the ability to use upper case letters or exclamation points. I feel like he might just shrivel up and die.

His idiot supporters say his actual defeat in the 2020 election was a landslide win for him, so there’s that point of view I guess.
I suspect the lawyers did that but, of course, he couldn’t be bothered to actually listen to them.
Do you remember Saturday Night Live’s character, Mister Subliminal? For a visual version, Tan the Conman could have his flacks in the gallery raising large placards with punctuation marks on them. Of course, they would do that at random times during is, let’s call it, discourse.

Or, he knew damned well that prosecution closes second, and that John Q. Magat wouldn’t know that, and it gave him a REASON TO RANT IN ALL CAPS!, further enflaming his adoring crowd.
He doesn’t need a reason to rant. He’ll rant no matter what happens. “They made me go last! They wouldn’t let us warn the jury not to believe the lies before they were told the lies! ILLEGAL JURY TEMPERING!”
Exactly. His ignorance and narcissism knows no bounds, so if he’s learning something for the first time it must be because literally no one ever knew it before. It’s weaponized entitlement at its finest and demonstrates an insane lack of self-awareness or perspective. “Why am I being treated like everyone else? It’s UNFAIR!”
Okay so everyone knows when you go to certain websites and you go to type in your password, if it’s masked there might be a little warning that pops up telling you your caps lock key is on? Someone needs to stand up behind him, and I mean anywhere, with a sign that says “Warning caps lock key is on!”

Jenna Ellis has her license to practice law in Colorado suspended for three years.
Jenna Ellis, an ex-attorney for former President Trump, has agreed to have her law license suspended for three years in Colorado for her role in attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results.
A presiding disciplinary judge approved the settlement between Ellis and Colorado’s Attorney Counsel on Tuesday.
Ellis pleaded guilty in October to one count of aiding and abetting false statements and writings. She reached a plea agreement with prosecutors in the Georgia 2020 election interference case, in which Trump and 17 others were indicted for engaging in an unlawful conspiracy to keep the former president in power.
She was first censured by Colorado’s Office of Attorney Regulation Counsel in March 2023 after she made “misrepresentations on national television and on Twitter regarding the 2020 presidential election.”
Ellis’s suspension will take effect on July 2 and last three years.
She got off light.
