A Perfectly Reasonable Amount of Schadenfreude about Things Happening to Trump & His Enablers (Part 2)

If they don’t release the report I will feel free to make up anything I want to as to its contents . . . just like they did with Hunter Biden’s laptop.

You might want to be careful there - writing FICTION about underage sex could be challenged as child porn; while reading TESTIMONY about underage sex is a private responsibility for certain Senators…

If you are seeing McConnell leading the revolution I’d like to have some of whatever you are smoking.

It’s less about McConnell leading a revolution (although it would not surprise me if he hates Trump and would happily fuck him over given any chance) and more about how Trump is that guy who thinks his every idea is the greatest idea ever. He has full control over the entire US government and the Supreme Court. He has been given a mandate (his words, not mine) to remake the US in his own image. And who comes along to fuck up his plans? Republicans. They are supposed to just bow down. They are not supposed to think for themselves. Trump has already done the thinking for them and come up with something better than they could ever come up with. Yet here they are insisting that Trump play by the rules even though they know damn well that rules don’t apply to him. That has got to be the worst feeling for Trump. He’s going to get betrayed again and again and again and it will be by people like Mitch McConnell who will do it with a smile on their faces. It’s not a revolution, it’s more like making him step on Lego pieces everywhere he goes, every day for the rest of his life.

What does McConnell have to do with recess appointments? He won’t be leader in the next Congress.

Don’t get your hopes up. Old school Republicans may feel that way, but they’ll ultimately side with Trump so they’ll have a better chance of getting re-elected.

It’s more like McConnell not wanting to participate in Trump’s revolution.

That’s the tradeoff, innit?

Do they expect a sufficient clusterfuck they need distance and deniability as the incumbent for the midterms? Or do they think the risk of getting a primary challenger is worse?

And of course more than half of them are already in the bag already, so it may be an academic point in any event.

I fully agree he doesn’t want to.
I just promise he’ll toe the line every single time.
You might have noticed he’s not really a man of character.

Oh, absolutely he is not. He has the firm spine of a flag in the wind.

But as a man who is planning to retire, he has more freedom to do what he wants than before. If going along with Trump isn’t going to benefit him, and he doesn’t want to do it, why would he?

I guess we’ll see.

Stochastic Terrorism.

If Mitch is held up as the poster boy for RINO Republicans holding up The Trump Agenda, how long will it be before some idiot with a hammer breaks into his house? We’ve seen that already with people Trump hates.

That would be a reason for everyone to lick Trump’s lift-filled shoes, not a reason for any specific person to give in to a particular demand. Which makes it a completely unreasonable fear.

McConnell is a lot of things, but he’s not that stupid.

Now, if Trump were able to privately send him a direct threat (maybe another “perfect phone call”) then that’s a different story. But the idea that another Paul Pelosi attack is likely to occur solely due to one decision (or even a particular political position a person holds) is such a bending of logic that I can’t even fathom it.

It wouldn’t be “due to one decision”, it would be due to the unrelenting attacks Trump will direct his way due to that one decision. That’s a crucial distinction. We know Trump holds epic grudges, and has no problem declaring people to be the worst person ever over even minor slights. Mitch being a major player in slowing down his agenda is more than sufficient reason to tar and feather him, in Trump’s mind.

Sure, any politician could be the target of such things, but Mitch is far more prominent, and shows up on TV regularly telling Trump “No”, so he’s far more likely to be personally targeted. That’s why it’s a bigger risk for him, personally.

I still think that’s not something Mitch is going to worry about. The fact that Mike Pence is still breathing is all the evidence he needs.

Wel, there we’re getting deep into the realm of hypotheticals. Would Pence still be breathing if Trump had succeeded in screwing the election certification, and retained power these last four years? Pence surviving under a Biden administration tells us little about what would have happened under Trump.

We started deep into the realm of hypotheticals once the idea of “stochastic terrorism” was brought up.

Except that’s not a hypothetical. Nancy Pelosi’s husband can tell you that.

I’m really just predicting the past here. Sure, it’s random, so it might not actually happen, but it’s entirely possible, and Mitch knows that. Everyone knows that.

Here’s the thing, the Paul Pelosi attack was from a lunatic who was primarily influenced by Pizzagate and Qanon conspiracy theories. Trump’s actual words were not the main reason for it. As I said, it is a complete hypothetical. The idea that McConnell will cave because someday, someone might possibly attack him because they were mad about what he did isn’t a reasonable fear.

I’m not saying that McConnell won’t cave. But in no way would it be because of what you’re suggesting.

Just curious. How do you tell?

Check the gills.
