A Perfectly Reasonable Amount of Schadenfreude about Things Happening to Trump & His Enablers (Part 2)

I hope the goats weren’t too traumatized. Adorable little Toggenburg in the first pic in your link!

It’s like there are two people trapped on a life raft. The first guy is trying to do what he can to survive; collecting rainwater, catching fish, etc.

The second guy hates the first guy so much, he just spends his time trying to sink the boat so that the first guy can drown.

Just give me a sign.

Remember this bit from Mississippi Burning? The white FBI agent from the North asked the Black sharecropper why said sharecropper’s home and farm were worth more than his next-door white neighbor’s. The Black sharecropper replied, “I don’t live next to a n~”.

That’s pretty much what racism is all about: giving someone with exactly zero to be proud of a reason to be proud, proud of something completely out of their control.

That’s my boy!!!

Interesting. Cite?

Sometimes wine, sometimes gin!

What were the goats doing in court? Grazing rights dispute?

Apparently the goats are part of Trump’s tax shenanigans.

In 2002, Trump purchased the estate, formerly known as Lamington Farm, and transformed it into a golf course and country club.

[T]he estate is registered as a working farm due to the occasional presence of these goats … if it were classified as a golf club, the tax rate would have been approximately USD 199,000 higher per year.

I just had my own paranoid thought. What if Donald Trump protests and throws up a fuss, asks all of his people for money to help, asks them for campaign donations so he can win the election, throws fits in social media and on TV… And then loses everything. Loses the election. Loses his criminal cases.

But, because he has no criminal record, he is given a pretty light sentence. No hard time, just a bit of time in minimum security, and some probation.

He serves that time, then sits back and enjoys all the money people gave him, and has someone ghost write him a book where he claims that he is the biggest martyr of all time, Jesus Christ never had it so bad, and the fervent people on the right snatch it up and make it a best-seller, and he rakes in money for that as well.

Did he really lose?

You prediction falls apart right about here. With what he is getting charged with, and is being charged with, a “light sentence” would be for the rest of his life.

Ah, but will he? In your scenario, he, and I quote, loses everything. He has multiple cases against him, and so depending on the order, he is likely to not be able to claim no criminal record.

It’s one of the tiny bits of schadenfreude that you get to enjoy from the multiple indictments in different jurisdictions.

I truly hope so. Hence why I said that my thinking was paranoid.

Most of the experts I’ve read about that make predictions generally talk about the theoretical maximum, then say that in reality there is no chance he’ll get anywhere near that, but don’t talk about the minimum sentence. Hence why paranoia sets in.

Here’s an example.

I know this article was prior to the indictment for conspiracy to defraud the government, but it predicted probably 3 years.

There is a newer one from 4 days ago:

It quotes a Columbia law professor as saying:

Richman said it is “nearly impossible” right now to predict what sentence Trump could actually receive if convicted.

I wondered about that too. I don’t know if the sentencing guidelines allow you to consider a conviction that occurs after the case has already started. Maybe it does, I don’t know.

I believe, if he is convicted on everything (Praise the FSM, may it be so) that it will work that way. After all, they were a series of crimes, and each has it’s own limits and limitations.

Of course, the moment he is convicted, I suspect that some or even most of the crimes will be / would be some version of house arrest, but some of these felonies, especially in aggregate? We can hope for at least a token prison sentence.

At which point, I’m sure the Trump lawyers will ignore the previous “Trump is the healthiest man in the world” to being too old and too sick to be subject to even the plushiest prison.

I would be fucking thrilled with 3 years. I don’t expect even that.

I’d be surprised if he could handle 3 days. He’d snap the minute the guard refused his demand for a Diet Coke.

I can just imagine that back and forth. Something like this:

Trump: Guard! Guard! Bring me a Diet Coke!

Guard: Whaddaya think I am, some kind of room service waiter?

“And no, I won’t bring you any more classified documents.”

In what I’m sure is a coincidence, 32 sunken cars have been found in a lake 5 minutes away from Trump’s Miami resort.

Imagine the conniption the Fox News crowd would have if 32 missing cars turned up in a lake near Biden’s house.

I’m not sure what Miami resort you are referring to. Mar A Lago is in Palm Beach, which isn’t 5 minutes away even by helicopter.

A little poking around on Google Maps shows where they found the cars is just across the street from a Lincoln dealership and a block away from a Chevrolet AutoNation. Perhaps insurance fraud?
