Can you imagine if Barack Obama said those very words? Millions of Republican voters and lawmakers would raise a huge ruckus.
It’ll be interesting to see how it all shakes out. So often, I’ve seen MAGA silently sit by when the administration does something they complained about when Democrats did it. I suspect they’ll continue to kowtow to Trump.
Don’t overthink it. It’s a bribe, pure and simple.
There’s behind-the-scenes information emerging (as people try to throw one another under the bus so they don’t get blamed for the fiasco) that the project was basically forced through the pipeline by upper management despite lower-level doubts and a persistently chaotic production.
There was never any hope or intention that this would be successful as a film. It’s a multi-million-dollar check written to the Trump family, with only the thinnest veil of camouflage. Period.
Did none of those geniuses anticipate any blowback if Melanie is embarrased by the low turnout? Who gets the blame for that? Doesn’t seem like a good way to curry favor with Trump by exposing his wife to ridicule.
If Melania wasn’t already immune to shame and ridicule, she wouldn’t have married Donald in the first place.
And the fact that they chose a director who was accused of sexual assault and partied with associates of Epstein is no coincidence.
I mean, sure, obviously there’s always the grift, but they do want more than just that.
Else why push for a big UK release for somebody almost universally despised outside the US? Or the wide release in major US markets rather than focusing on the usual crowd? They’ve always craved legitimacy and the respect and admiration of the social elite. And tried to buy it (or get somebody else to buy it) yet again while personally profiting.
I do think they expected the loyal hicks who make up their base would make it at least not a total financial disaster. And still might. The error was hoping anybody with any taste or class would also fall for the grift. But hope springs eternal.
And yet, there are still some worse attempts at vanity projects. It’s oddly re-assuring that they’re outclassed even at monumental altars of narcissism.
Hell, it even sounds like it could be about FIFA as well.
It’s a widespread self-delusion of the right that they are the mainstream and beloved of the populace and as such they tend to wildly overestimate their popularity.
@JRDelirious reminded me (thanks!) in the clusterfuck thread that this is the place we are mocking $Mellania’s vain schadenfreudy vanity. Here is a nice Substack about it. It has all been said before, but it bears repeating, even if it takes more than one thread:
Trump “Truthed” or “Retruthed” more than 50 times in the last several hours. From what I’ve learned, he definitely won the 2020 election and Georgia has now proven it, the Minneapolis protesters are paid, and Pretti was a domestic terrorist.
Pretti was a domestic terrorist, then wasn’t, and now is back to it. How long before the next pivot?
Wow, he’s really going back to the ‘Pretti was a domestic terrorist’ line, after publicly and officially backing off that? Christ. His handlers must be going nuts trying to keep him on message.
Haha, that was a grim joke. As if he has any semblance of ‘handlers’ anymore.
Well, another video has emerged, which shows Pretti having a violent interaction with ICE agents 11 days before he was killed. Pretti spits on their vehicle and then kicks a breaks a taillight. He is then tackled to the ground before he’s released. His gun is clearly visible in his waistband.
Obviously, if you have multiple dealings with ICE, you are obviously a domestic terrorist. /s

Thom Tillis ‘thrilled’ Trump called him ‘loser’
Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) signaled Wednesday that he’s not at all bothered by President Trump labeling him a “loser.”
“I am thrilled about that. That makes me qualified to be [Department of Homeland Security] secretary and senior advisor to the president,” Tillis told CNN’s Manu Raju on Capitol Hill, referring to Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller.
The masterbatory vanity project has been pulled from all theaters in South Africa.
For anyone in Boston, there’s $50 for you if you’re willing to endure the movie.
If I was in Boston I might take the ad up on this, taking my noise-canceling earbuds and some podcasts downloaded on my phone and / or my Kindle. Hey, $50 is $50, and it’s $50 less that stays with the trump machine to possibly be spent on something worse.
Does anybody know what drugs are legal in Boston? Those 50$ could be quite an experience on LSD, for instance. Some gonzo journalist should try and report.
Who is paying those 50$? If it is related to the temper tanTrump I would not trust them to pay. If it is some dadaist kind of artist I’d give them the benefit of the doubt.
Just don’t take the LSD, then go see the movie. Talk about a bad trip!
