Earlier in the week Pete Hegseth did a bench press in front of a bunch of military personnel.

Except he’s getting lots of criticism for it.
As you’ll see in the video, his bar has 3 big plates on each side. Typically, those big plates are 45 pounds each, meaning he’s bending 315 pounds.
Only Hegseth isn’t nearly that muscular. Plus, the bar doesn’t bend at all. And he’s not really exerting himself like you’d expect.
Conventional wisdom among the lifting community is that those were “fake” weights, or big 10 or 25 pound bumper plates (which are used during Olympic lifts like the clean and jerk, since the bar ends up bouncing at the end).
He’s maybe lifting 195 pounds. Not bad, but not what’s he’s trying to portray.
In Trump’s case, I assume the bubble is full of grawlix.
