I don’t think so. The Dems would have to flip most, if not all, of the 20 GOP seats that are up for re-election this year, while keeping all of their 13 seats in the same election. Don’t see that happening.

Nitpick: there’s actually 22 GOP Senate seats up for election this year. Twenty of them are for end-of-term elections. The other two (FL and OH) are because they were vacated during the past year or two and are currently being held by appointees. But the law in those states apparently requires them being put to the vote at the next general election.

Not just the law of the states - the 17th Amendment requires that Senate seats be filled by election at the next federal election to fill uncompleted terms, though the states can specify a way to fill the vacancy until that election happens.

I’ve mentioned this before, but in Buddhism there is the concept of the Hungry Ghost.
Pretas, or “hungry ghosts,” are beings who are tormented by desire that can never be sated. They are often portrayed with tiny mouths and throats and the swollen bellies of the starving, meaning they can never consume enough to ease the suffering of their hungers
Pretas are described in many different Asian mythologies. In Buddhism, they are considered one of the six realms of cyclic existence (samsara), along with devas (gods), asuras (warring gods), humans, animals, and hell beings. Enlightenment can be defined as freeing oneself from these realms entirely.
Although the beings in them believe these realms are real, they are only subjective experiences created by the mind. Each realm is characterized by a particular mental obscuration or klesha. The preta realm is defined by attachment and the truth that we can never end the suffering of unquenched desire, no matter how much we consume.
Not mentioned on the page linked to is that one’s existence moves up and down the six realms depending on one’s actions both in past lives and the current one. Below the hungry ghost realm is the hell realm, a claustrophobic place of extreme hot or cold in which you can’t escape the torment of your own intense anger and hate. Below that is literally, nothing. The universe is done with you and it’s the other way off the samsara cyclic train, the deliberate way being enlightenment.
It’s probably a big downcheck in my journey but I do get a big dose of schadenfreude thinking of his nibs’ essence there for some time before the oblivion that follows.
