A Perfectly Reasonable Amount of Schadenfreude about Things Happening to Trump & His Enablers (Part 3)

This is a YouTube short from Legal Eagle.

The gist is that Patel is suing The Atlantic over the story about his drinking, and if the case gets far enough before it is dismissed or withdrawn, the asshole is going to have to sit in front of a taped deposition under oath to talk about his drinking during the discovery phase. He is a fucking moron.

I’ve heard it said that this is why trump has never sued anyone for defamation who’s called him a pedophile. Despite the fact that he sues everybody.

I heard on the radio an estimate that Iran could potentially hold out for 4 months before suffering a serious economic crisis as a result of the blockades. Trump said something about the US being willing to wait them out and “beat them” or something along those lines. I did some quick math and realized that would be early September.

I can only imagine how fed up Americans would be by dragging shit out that long. They say that voters have short memories, but that’s a month before the election.

I wish I could link to a story but it’s just something I heard on the news this morning, probably from NPR. It does seem consistent with this story though:

Katzman said he had been informed by an Iranian professor that, based on those supplies, Tehran could have revenue flows that can last until August despite the US naval blockade.

Well, two months, but your point still holds.

2 yes, gah.

I think it very unlikely that a “serious economic crisis” would be enough to convince them to do…something undefined to try to placate a known liar. Partly because there’s no point since Trump would just keep on blockading them, partly since what they are “supposed” to do shifts moment by moment, and partly because historically a serious economic crisis hasn’t been nearly enough to convince nations to surrender.

Under the circumstances I expect Iran to hold on until it becomes physically impossible for them to do so. Not merely unpleasant or expensive.

:sigh: Now it will be Irans fault that the GOP is gonna get creamed in Nov.

Well, it certainly isn’t their fault /s

Well, you know if they get pasted they’re going to blame somebody. From our POV better Iranians than Democrats.

They’ll blame Democrats for it anyway because “politics stops at the water’s edge!” or some such platitude.

Tariffs for spite ruled out so Orangeman came up with a universal across the board 10% emergency.

Trump lost his tariff case before the trade court, they ruled his replacement tariffs following his SCOTUS defeat, are also illegal.

As expected, they rejected his assertion of emergency powers under a 1974 monetary policy law.

Late, should have happened a year ago.

A federal judge has ruled the DOGE cancellation of humanities grants unlawful and unconstitutional.

She also created a class of all entities that had funding withheld from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) by DOGE, and ordered their funding restored.

The 143 page ruling is incredibly detailed as to how the decisions were made, and the variety of ways in which they broke the law. Also highly critical of the NEH director appointed by Trump, who allowed DOGE to act in his name and with his authority and his signature, without any justification or even the semblance of diligence.

The judge pointed out that although administrators are appointed by the President, their first duty is to the Congressional law that created, governs, and funds their agencies.

Lol, that will be news to Trump’s lackeys, who all think their first duty is to kiss the orange hindquarters.

The DOGE use of ChatAI to cancel grants is fairly entertaining, once you get past the outrage. These guys were functioning at a high school level (and that’s being charitable). Musk literally hired the most idiotic followers from his fan base. They had no other credentials or expertise, other than they blindly obeyed Musk.

I’m pretty sure that was the only essential qualification for those positions.

This showed up in the NSRIOTD thread some hours ago. It fits well here. Thank you, @Joey_P

Too bad, so sad.

This is hilarious!

“Give me $100. Maybe I’ll do something, maybe I won’t.”

This from a well known liar and con man that never follows through on ‘promises’

MAGAs are not the sharpest tool in the shed.

In late 2020, one of my coworkers had her bank account drained by scammers who pretended to be a “Stop the Steal” (ironic?) legal fund.

She still believes it was someone in our company’s payroll department who actually hacked into her account. Despite what her bank and the state police were telling her.

It’s like leopards and faces. “I voted for the Lie To Me And Con Me Out Of My Money Guy”, but I never thought he would lie to me and con me out of my money!"

The depth of their stupidity will give people decades of study.

But maybe, they don’t need to be studied. They are just stupid as a bag of hammers. Solved.

  • Cdr. Camparelli: And as for you, you can lead the Manson family now that Charlie’s in jail. You’d like that, wouldn’t you? You’re a maniac. They ought to study you, Cole.
