Jackson Lahmeyer, an Oklahoma megachurch minister who founded Pastors for Trump, has withdrawn from a runoff for a U.S. House seat from Oklahoma, following reports that he had sent romantic text messages to a woman who is not his wife.
Trump endorsed this clown a day before the primary. Then, surprising absolutely nobody, he switched his support to the other dude in the GOP primary after the news broke about the text messages.
My dear Frodo, you misspelled benighted.
And as a matter of principle, no dictatorship, not even yours, can be benign if it does not resolve the question of succession in a way that guarantees that the succession is forever benign too. Which nobody has managed yet. It is probably impossible.
Heh, this is worthy of a Steven Wright one-liner. I can hear him in my mind saying “I’m trying to be immortal…so far it’s working” in that signature monotone.
To get back to the schadenfreude, the content of this article is pretty schadenfreude-y, but I post this mostly for the photo of trump at the G7. That has got to be the most half-hearted, defeated-looking fist pump ever. And the look on his face is that of an old, tired man, sick of the ride and wanting to get off. He is cooked and knows it.
His falling popularity could weigh on his Republican allies when they defend their congressional majorities in the November 3 midterm elections. The Reuters/Ipsos poll showed that just 17% of independent registered voters said they would vote for the Republican in their district if the election were held today, compared with 34% who said they would pick the Democrat.
Not a good time to be a Republican up for election.
