As mentioned, I was wrong about this. There were no other NBA games that night and no men’s college games either. So the crack researchers drew the obvious conclusion that Smith was at the Hawks game. With Fani Willis.
Eric Schmitt later immediately went onto various right-wing shows and podcasts continuing to claim that he had got one over on Jack Smith, even after Klobuchar and Smith had handed him his own ass, well-roasted. Schmitt continued to double down on his bullshit about Smith being a “perjurer” and “dirtbag”.
Schmitt’s office is now being inundated with angry calls and emails, something which will change his ways not a whit.
There were, in fact, five other games played in the NBA on that date. Hell, he could have been meeting with any sort of nefarious characters in Chicago, Philadelphia, New York, San Antonio and Dallas as well as Atlanta.

And as a matter of fact, there were a large number of men’s Division 1 basketball games that day, including Duke vs North Carolina.
I believe the caveat they offered is that it was the only NBA game with a 7:30 tip off. Others were earlier or later.
I also believe it was found that the Aurora was visible that evening, in that part of the day, in that part of the country, though localized entirely in the kitchen of a local elementary school principal.

I like to think that that moment will cause her to question all of her political life choices and start making better ones. She can hardly switch parties and survive politically being in Alabama, but maybe she can become an important part of a future, post-MAGA Repub reformation.

I don’t know if she helped plan it, but she almost certainly knew it was coming. There are numerous tweets (since deleted) from the MAGA crowd quoting Schmitt’s “gotcha” of “what would you say if I had a series of text messages…”
Smith corrected the error shortly after, so for all these people to post these tweets in the brief window between the accusation and correction, the posts must have been prepped and ready to go. There was a plan and marching orders disseminated in advance.
Yes, I’ve seen evidence of this presented on a few shows (MSnow mostly). Apparently the talk in MAGA world was that Eric Schmitt was the Next Big Thing. He’d be Vance’s VP in 2028!!!* So there was a media plan in place, with interviews, supportive tweets, etc. All to celebrate his Massive Take-down of Jack Smith!!!

Even if Smith had been at a game with Willis: what, exactly, was supposed to have come of that? What anti-Trump actions did either perform subsequent to that night, either alone or in concert?
If you’re going to have a conspiracy theory shouldn’t it be about something? I mean, the ‘moon landings were faked’ CT at least refers to something that was in the news (namely, landings on the moon). What is the ‘Smith and Willis at the game’ CT supposed to refer to???
They believe Willis was so damaged by the affair scandal, the stink would rub off on Smith if he was anywhere in Atlanta, like at a basketball game.
