This reminds me of a horror comic (Psycho?) I read as a kid. I don’t remember the details, but I remember people ‘swimming’ in the air because the atmosphere was so thick. There was also something about scientists, under the direction of rich and powerful politicians, bred bacteria. The bacteria grew to be the size of houses. Maybe they were so large and so numerous, that they were using up all of the oxygen? Anyway, with everybody doomed, one of the scientists approaches the Evil Politician with a large knife. IIRC, the politician argues that everyone’s going to suffocate; there’s no need to kill him. The scientist says something like, ‘Maybe. But everyone knows that politicians are full of hot air!’

And even more than that, since it was his decision to not whip the Republican senators for removal & disqualification that meant Trump could return again in 2024.
One last thing about HEB - I worked there when I was in High School and when I’d come back home my first couple of years of college. I loved them! They’re very generous in supporting their local communities with donations and food. When I graduated from High School they ran a big full page ad in the newspaper with pictures of all of their employees graduating High School and College along with a big congratulations. For any Gen Z’ers reading this post, back in the day we’d have to have physical papers filled with news delivered daily to our homes.

Nah, even if he thinks he might die someday - and he may not - he figures either he’s already a shoo-in or he can “make a deal” and negotiate them into letting him run the place without giving anything in return.
