A Picture MMP {My First MMP}

Fire fire fire - we gots a fire warming the room! I just brought in a pile of logs - enough for the evening, I hope!

Shortly, I’m going to warm up leftovers. The rest of the night is definitely bumming time. It’s been a pretty good day.

*Waving at everyone from Sis’s 'puter… YOOHOO!

If I had waited a couple of hours this might have been a Haze-like post. We be drinkin’ some beer on a lovely but chilly Firday. Sis is makin’ chili and it smells soooooooooo good! BIL’s bro is here from Kaintucky and it’s always fun to see him. Oh, and I have talked on my cellphone more than I have in three months today, what with friends callin’ me up and makin’ sure I’ll be around for the annual big [del]drunken brawl[/del] party tomorrow night. This despite the fact that sis has repeatedly assured them that I will be there. Nice to know my old friends are so anxious to see me [del]fallin’ down drunk[/del] again.

Bye Y’all!

What a nice day I am having. Nice and quiet and restful. Feels good.
But work called and I am cancelled AGAIN for tomorrow. I haven’t worked since last Wednesday. My check will be chicken feed, at the most expensive time of the year, too. Crap.

My parents are back and want to take us out to dinner. I’m going to talk them into take away. I have no desire to go out to a restaurant at this point.

I put some paint samples up on the master bedroom wall–I hope to paint the room this winter (after Xmas). We’ll see.

I’ve been pretty lazy today. And hubby did make breakfast this morning! That was a nice treat.

He’s been working his butt off all day installing the second window. It’s cooold in here! About 52° outside, and around 65° in the house. And right now I’m sitting next to the open window. He has to hurry - another hour and there won’t be any daylight, and it’s supposed to rain starting around midnight and last all weekend. He works too hard.

We had turkey BLT’s for lunch. Tonight will be leftovers. We also have leftover pot roast if anyone is sick of turkey stuff yet. (Not me!)

I was going to go to the store and get eggs, bread and bacon, but I think I’ll wait until tomorrow. Oh, wait, it’s gonna be raining. Crap. I guess I’ll go now.

Bye!

I’ve been a good girl today. I loaded and started the dishwasher, stripped my bed and my sheets are in the washer as I type, and I went to the store to get dishwasher detergent (obviously before I started the dishes, since we were out). And I took down a bunch of recycling that’s been needing to go for, like, weeks.

Impressive druk vocabulary!

Also, from my experience, the evening of the biggest shopping day of the year is also the evening of “everyone goes to eat at a restaurant after spending the day shopping”.

Dinner is digesting, coffee is brewing and ice cream is being considered.

AND…my parents just outstayed their welcome. My mother bought a Blackberry. This from a woman whom all through my HS years, had me come in to change the channels of the TV because she couldn’t figure it out. Of course, she can’t figure out how to even turn on the Blackberry. The husband has offered to help her–but she left it in the hotel room (again). My dad says that she should use a pencil to push the buttons on it. This has led to a squabble*–she is insisting she doesn’t need a pencil because she has a Blackberry now; he is trying to explain and also poke fun at her and I want them to go home NOW.

*the fact that both of them are now hard of hearing doesn’t help this miscommunication any.

How’s your night shaping up?

Leftovers have been consumed, dishes are in the dishwasher, the last log just went on the fire, meaning I’ll have to go out and get more. It’s coooooold out there (I just got the mail a few minutes ago - I’d forgotten earlier.)

The other day, **FCD ** put the cat cave thingy on the love seat instead of on the floor, and Miss Brandy apparently approves. She’s spent most of the day in there - I guess it’s cozy, and being on the love seat, it’s safe from the evil little doggie. And considering how cold it is outside, the little dog will probably need her sweater on before she goes out the next time.

A little earlier, we watched Happy Feet again (and again and again) on cable. For some reason, my sweetie just lurves that movie! We’re truly just vegging this evening, and it’s good. C’mon over, rigs! No whacko parental units here!

Bummer, rigs; just when it was all going so well. They really need to learn to time their departures to be at a point where they’re still welcome!

Great job, Bobbio! Glad you were able to save her.

Entertaining animation and video and microwave story (I can’t believe I read that whole thread!) and pictures (Hi Tris and Sampiro!).

I’m gonna have to scan a couple of pics from scratch because the one I thought I had on the PC just isn’t there.

I just spent the last while catching up here. Got back into town around 7:30 this morning, got ready for work and was at my desk by 8:40. Even got some stuff done.

FCM - we don’t have anyone signed up for next Monday (or any subsequent Mondays, for that matter). Are you volunteering?

I think your plans for the wedding sound perfectly sensible. I can’t believe how much money can be spent on such events.

I know I’ve missed lots of people I wanted to respond to. I’ll try to make it back in a bit.

First on 8 also?

eta: Yes! Wheeeeeeee!

I am easily pleased.

I am back from friend’s house where about a dozen of us had a lovely evening of Thanksgiving foods and discussing old movies and TV shows. Friend’s cousin was there, so were two other pleasant 50-somethings (friends of Mr. Friend) neither of whom I’d met before, one of whom gave me a goodnight cheek kiss. I shall have to ask friend about his availability.

Am now enjoying a lovely Mike’s and shall soon crawl off to bned. G’night all.

Wheezy, breezy, beautiful. I’ve spent too much time here at TVMan’s house. The dog is really getting to me now.

It’s been a lazy day here. And it’s almost time to go back to bed again.

Mommmmmmmmm! It’s not fair!!! She always gets to be first!!!

Glad you had a nice evening, though, rosie.

Trying to get a few things done here and then off to beddie-bye.

Oh! Forgot to mention. Mr Friend and his friends are Frat Brothers of screenwriters Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel! Another brush with greatness!

That’s 'cause she hides in the shrubs counting posts, then she leaps out and tosses one out at the opportune moment. We like to think she’s eccentric, and not just plain whacko…

Parents have gone back to their hotel, still squabbling about the effing Blackberry.

I gave up on my homework–this one Dewey number goes out to 12 decimal places. I say, just go look on the damned shelf and be done with it–you’re bound to find it there. (Hmmm…probably not the best response for a librarian to be to make).

It’s COLD out there! But it feels good. I’m wearing my variegated cranberry Vneck sweater and am warm as toast. Off to bed soon–afterall, it’s almost 9 pm.

aw, damn! you found me out.

or you could have quoted Frasier in the second or third episode, when he Daphne to someone or other, and mentioned her belief that she is psychic:
“We’ve decided to find it charming.”

Been a busy day.

So during the first half of the day I took my Tecumseh Master Technician test. An hour written, an hour practical. The written … hard to say how I did. My gut tells me I’m probably on the border of a passing grade (70%), but who knows. The practical – well, I was supposed to diagnose, determine necessary replacement parts, and fill out a warranty form for both one four-cycle engine, and one transaxle. I didn’t realize there was a transaxle part of the test, so I took my time on the engine. Ran out of time and couldn’t do the transaxle. Feh!

Well, I’m pretty sure I got the engine mostly right, anyway.

Second half of the day was business as usual – though quite busy. Then I trekked over to Sherway Gardens in Toronto (Etobicoke to us pre-megacity purists) to the Apple Store and got the replacement for my iPod Touch, and now I’m finally home.

Y’know, the Apple Store is kinda funky. I like the concept. It’s almost a cross betwen a showroom and a workshop. There are benches and chairs and product everywhere and you can sit and play and fiddle with everything. It was surprisingly jam-packed in that store, too. For some reason I wasn’t expecting it to be nearly that busy. I guess Macs really are getting more popular. This is good. I like Macs. They just don’t have the support I need, but if they get more popular, they will, and maybe one day I can finally ditch the Windows elephant.

So, now that I’m done with gettin’ all edumakashuned, I’ll be able to keep track of the MMP again. Whew!

I hope things go well with Friend’s Friend, Rosie! That’s always a good way to meet someone, especially unattached someones, who can produce a brush with greatness. In a more remote vein, I recently learned of a brush with greatness third- or fourth-hand myself. I have an old friend (the one we visited in San Francisco that time, snowbunny)whose son-in-law is a close college buddy of royalty. The king of Jordan, to be specific. I’ve known that for a while; but I just learned that my friend’s daughter and SIL honeymooned in Jordan as guests of the king. Is that way cool or what? I’d never gotten past the fact that daughter and SIL had thrown a six-figure-plus wedding, which they mostly financed themselves, although my friend offered to pay the florist bill. Maybe he shouldn’t have, it came to nearly $20K!  I will never understand why people spend that kind of $$ on a wedding, even if they can afford it.

That was really nice of the Apple folks to replace your Touch, Mork. Papa Tigs laughed and laughed and laughed – sympathetically, however – when I told him what you’d done. I suspect the Apple folks will enjoy telling their coworkers about your 6 seconds of incautiousness, but hey, everyone needs a little levity at work, right?

I have spent a dull and boring day, alternately working and wasting time not working. More of the latter than the former, alas, since my headache tried to come back with a vengeance, and this job is not one that’s conducive to being worked on with a throbbing head. I finally took enough meds of one variety or another (not to worry, no nearly OD’ing on Tylenol like some incautious Mumper did not that long ago, tsk tsk!) that it’s calmed down, so I may stay up for a couple more hours and try to get something done. Even if my work may be regularly interrupted by snores from the other room – Papa Tigs is trying to catch a cold, and so between him in his chair and Isaac on the sofa, the snoring is in stereo in there.  I just hope Papa Tigs can get his head cleared enough to go to bed; otherwise, he may have to share Isaac’s bed. It’s a recliner sofa, so it’s not quite as bad as it sounds.

Home. My closing manager called in sick, so I ended up working a 17 hour day. On the way home, i almost ran over Batman. Or at least some dude riding a bike in the street wearing black clothes and a black cape. Beer now.
