what the hell am I doing up at this hour?
Posting?
me too
Six o’clock. The day shift is beginning to roll into the lab. I see “C” this morning and since it’s the weekend she has one of the blood bank departments to cover all by herself. “I can listen to the radio!” She says jubilantly!
I just walked past her and all I can hear is the radio singing “On the fourth day of Christmas… etc…”
Or, why I listen to public radio exclusively.
I slept through the ENTIRE night for a second night in a row!!! Wooooooot!!! Haven’t done this in months. Not that I don’t love being part of the night crew, but I’d really prefer to be part of the gang at either end of 6-8 continuous hours of sleep. I think I slept about 7 hours in a row. Have I mentioned “yay!!!”?
GT
Up and caffeinated.
Sounds like everyone had a nice Thanksgiving, whenever they celebrated it. Mine was small and quiet, but with plenty to eat. One of my brothers even called me on Thanksgiving day! laughs I’m glad to hear from them, but they don’t call very frequently; at least they do email.
I don’t have too much else to add. My alma mater (well, mostly … I did attend for four years, but don’t have a degree. :(), University of Delaware, played Delaware State University. Think it was a Division II playoff game, and they had never played each other before. Unfortunately for DSU, the Fighting Blue Hens kicked butt!! The game was televised on ESPN, and the last I saw (third quarter), UD was leading, 37-0.
Hugs to all who need it, and well wishes to those who need them!!
Another good sleeper here - didn’t get up till 7 - yay! And I did it without assistance of the alcoholic kind. I did wake a few times during the night, including when Brandy came in to crawl under the covers, but I always fell back to sleep, even after the bizarro dream which I don’t remember now.
The thermometer by the garage indicated mid-20s when I let the doggies out. It may be off by a couple of degrees, but it’s still, um, brisk out there. However, the logs I banked in the woodstove kept the family room really comfy - the stove is still too hot to touch safely, so yay! My sweetie is still curled up under his covers, and the fuzzy chilluns have been tended to. So begins another day at FairyChatEstates.
And I’m caffeinating in the quiet of the morning. Eventually I’ll become productive, but for now, it’s a fuzzy robe, the MMP in one window, my comics of choice in another. Not a bad way to start the day. A nice, warm cinnamon roll with caramel icing would make it perfect…

Happy Saturday!
I am up only because there is no snooze button on a cat who wants breakfast.
Afternoon all! Have you 'murricans recovered from stuffing yourselves full of turkey yet? I’ve been out doing last-minute shopping and stuff, tonight it’s another traipse round the German market followed by beers, and tomorrow I have to pack for Vegas. Woohoo! Holidays, at last!
The best part is that I’ve got two weeks and a day away from Tin Knickers and Don Twanna, then when I get back it’s only another two weeks until we finish for the hexmas holiday.
Now all I have to be concerned about is whether I can get my liquid and gel medications past the security people at the airport - they’re still very funny about letting things like that on the plane in hand-luggage but the flight is so long and in recycled air etc, I don’t want to take the chance that my poorly eye will dry out and give me problems again. I could pack the stuff in my case, but then what happens if Virgin loses it and I don’t have any medication for days? Nope, better off trying to get it through security instead.
Ophelia went to the vet last night for her booster shots, she was amazingly well-behaved. Maybe that’s because she was asleep on the sofa when I picked her up and shoved her in her pet carrier - she usually makes quite a fuss about going in there, but this time she wasn’t quite awake so it was much easier. She purred and tarted around for the vet, I bet if it had been a woman she’d have been much less eager to please. Anyway, he said she’d fine, and she’s been jabbed now so she’s ready for her trip to the cattery on Monday.
No doubt Shadow will complain about having to go in his box to get to the cattery, last time he showed his displeasure by having a poo on the way there!
Off to make tea and purtify before we go out.
BooFae - Where in Vegas will you be staying?
and are you flying direct? or do you have any kind of significant layover in NYC?
We’re staying at the Bellagio, flying direct to Vegas from Gatwick so no stopovers anywhere. I’m looking forward to the trip, apart from the hassle of packing!
BooFae, as far as the U.S. is concerned, it looks like you should be OK carrying on medications. Here’s a page from the U. S. Transportation Security Administration Web site. The page from Virgin doesn’t address medications, but here’s a page from the BBC Web site with helpful info.
I dozed a bit longer and am now getting up to do stuff. It’s cold here too. Supposed to be nicer tomorrow, so I’m thinking indoor tasks today, outdoor tasks tomorrow.
We’ll see how inspired I am…
Off to forage for breakfast. Back later.

Since no one else has leapt into the fray, I’ll have a go at the next MMP. A bit of inspiration struck as I was showering (no, the MMP won’t have anything to do with my personal hygiene) and I’ve got the OP begun in my head. It shouldn’t be too hard to get it on paper. So unless someone else has a burning desire to toss something out there, I’ll take it on.
**FCD ** is in ManLand playing with the planer. We’re supposed to be going to Lowe’s to get hardware for the drawers and door on the cabinet he’s making. I’m hoping we can at least stop for a bagel or something as we head down the road - I’m hongry!!
**BooFae ** - have a fun and safe trip! You should volunteer to do the MMP upon your return. With photos and everything. The saying may be “Whatever happens in Vegas stays in Vegas”, but that won’t fly here! And bring us presents!
Off I go…
We have a [del]sacreficial victim[/del] volunteer.
all those in favor of Moooooooom taking the next MMP, say “aye”.
AYE!!!
all those oppposed?
::crickets::
Okay, Moooooooom, it’s all yours
Howdy, all! Mea Culpa for being absent for so many days but my Thanksgiving vaca has been really BUSY! Turkey Day dinner was very nice and all the food was yummy. I still have leftovers that I am considering taking over to BarbeeDoll’s[sup]TM[/sup] since she was up in Canada seeing in-laws and missed out on all the [del]gluttony[/del] feasting.
Yesterday the Princess[sup]TM[/sup] and I did our annual Black Friday shopping trip. We managed a new record for us of six hours of shopping.
The only place that was a madhouse was Circuit City. (She bought a Sony HDTV on sale.)
The weather here has been just lovely all week and is supposed to stay in the eighties all next week as well.
boofae, have a lovely trip to vegas and make up something deliciously scandalous to tell us when you get back.
To everyone else, appropriate encouragements and commiserations as needed.
I gotta learn to stay out of Pit threads. I voiced my opinion on the topic based on my experiences, and got jumped on. It’s not important which thread, it has happened everytime I posted in a Pit thread. I am beginning to suspect there are Dopers who do nothing but attack Pit posters. They hand around, read evey pit thread, and swoop down on them like hawks on prey. ::shudder:: I will stay out of the Pit from now on.
Goooooood moooooorrrrrrnnnnnnnninnnnnnng everyone! I didn’t catch the “good seven or eight hours of sleep” bug from anyone. I think I got about 5 hours, which is good for me.
I am hoping to take my daughter to get a haircut today. I’m going to get myself a cup of coffee, cruise the dope while I finish that first cup, then hop in the shower.
My son wants a friend of his to come over, so he was busily cleaning and tidying yesterday; even his room! My daughter also wants to go to a movie with a friend of hers this afternoon.
My plans call for some laundry, a trip to the beauty salon (for daughter), a quick trip to the grocery store for coffee beans, and maybe having to schlep my daughter to the movie theater and back.
Ooh! Time for coffee!
I got five hours of sleep last night, and I will be lucky to get 3 tonight. I’m up, caffeinated, and dreading work… Enjoy your weekend.
Good morning, all!
I slept pretty good last night, even if part of it was in this chair… at least my neck isn’t stiff any more! And I didn’t get woken up until 6:00 am!
It’s ugly and cold and raining outside. I’m watching Ernie very closely because he won’t go potty outside when it’s raining. We just shampooed the carpets!
We’ve had breakfast, and I’m about to go do some laundry. Later I have to go out again, because I forgot a few things when I went to the store last night.
Poor Mr Rebo. He got the window installed, thank Og, but he forgot his saw and a bunch of plywood were outside. I’m sure the saw will be ok, but the wood won’t be good for much now. He’s pissed at himself. But damn the new windows look great! It’s bright and airy in here! Well, except for the fact that it’s darka nd dreary outside. We’ve had a bunch of rain, and the backyard is flooded. It’s supposed to continue all day and through tomorrow! Yucky.
See ya around, mumpers!
That’s what they’re supposed to do, nevermind the snark. You get used to the darkness, I go the Pit and even deeper.
