A Picture MMP {My First MMP}

Well, I’m almost back to where things were before I cooked my iPod. The replacement works great, and I just went and picked up a temporary pair of in-ear monitors: JVC HA-FX33-A, a.k.a. “Marshmallow.” Silly name, kind of ugly, but they were cheap ($30) and they have what appears to be sealed foam tips, which make them comfortable and well-fitting. (I have asymmetrical ears, and silicone tips have never worked properly for me because they don’t fit well no matter what size I try. Foam tips are the only ones I’ve been able to wear that stay put and form a proper seal. I don’t like wearing over-ear or open-air cans either because I take public transportation, and the sound leaks significantly out of those.) I have to admit that for relatively cheap buds, these things sounds pretty damn good. Not as good as the Shures, but they’ll serve as a very capable replacement until I can replace them with another pair of Shures.

These don’t pass the “leak test” nearly as well as I’d like though. Sound still emanates from them audibly even when in place. But still not as bad as full-size cans.

How does one get all sweaty when the temp is in the 40s? One way is to mulch, vac, and dump an acre or so of leaves. Actually, it was probably less than an acre, but it still took lots longer than I expected. Part of the problem was when I got the vac cart over-full and I had to fetch **FCD ** to help me open and dump it. And I got stuck once. And I had to stop to add gas once. Overall, 7 or 8 cartloads, between 6-10 cu ft per load. That’s a lot of leaf mulch. Now we just need a nice wet winter to help beat the piles down and encourage rot.

I’m trying to decide whether I should make dinner or make **FCD ** take me out to dinner. Decisions, decisions… I’m in the mood for shrimp, and I have some in the freezer. I suppose I should just thaw 'em and steam 'em. At least that way, I don’t have to take a shower. I can eat at home with leaf bits in my hair. :smiley:

Thanks for appreciating my penguin. I’m really proud of him. I intend to make more when I start throwing again. I’m going to try some bigger ones, too. This one is about 3-4" tall, I think.

Guess I’ll go dig in the freezer and find some shrimps.

You should definitely make more penguins, FCM. I think it would be really cute to have a set of different sizes, maybe 4, 6 and 8 inches tall. (I would buy them.)

Glad the visit with your mom went pretty well, Shadow. I know it’s really hard, but I’m glad you were able to keep her from bringing you down. I’m still in awe of how much you’ve accomplished, given your family history.

I want an iPod. But it looks like I’m going to need to replace my camera and probably get a laptop to replace my desktop PC, so it’s probably not happening till Spring or so.

I felt like I raked an acre, but it wasn’t nearly that much. Still, I cleared out the whole front of my house, cut down a bunch of perennials, and moved a bunch of containers into the garage. Never made it to the garden at church, but someone just called me and asked what needed to be done, so I may not have a whole lot to do there.

So, how is it that the chances of precipitation between 4 and 6 p.m. were 0% but it’s been sprinkling since about 4 and currently sounds as if it’s coming down quite hard?

Now I need to go off to mass and then to buy groceries.

Back eventually.

Maybe loud singin’ will get his attention. :smiley:

That just sounds like it would be a good MMP OP. Just sayin’.

Mooooom I think you should go out for dinner, leaf bits in the hair and all. People will look at you and think, “what an eccentric and avante garde person she is!” Really.

I still don’t have those pics. BIL will get 'em onto a disc, take 'em to his house and email 'em to me. I would have just scanned 'em in and sent 'em to my 'puter from Sis’s and BIL’s 'puter but their printer/scanner is messed up. I was cursed this weekend. Cursed I say!

BBBobbio how much nut pickin’ did you get done?

Last night’s [del] drunken debauchery [/del] party was a blast! There were people I grew up with there along with quite a few of their now adult kids. People my age are not supposed to have children who are in their thirties. I say they must be a lot older than me, just got left back in school a lot. :smiley: A good time was had by all. I was, well, slightly dazed in church with Mom this mornin’. It was like I was there but not really. Sis and BIL didn’t make it to church, the wusses!

OK, off to check out other stuff and do some laundry. After all, tomorrow is work time whether I like it or not.

ETA a smartass comment. Wow gt you can buy groceries at mass? Now that’s convenience. Can you get 'em blessed too?

mmmmmmmmmm - shrimp and N.O.T. tots. I made some super-good cocktail sauce, too - I added lemon juice to the ketchup and horseradish, and it was yummerrific. Once all that settles, we’ll have to sample the punkin pie.

And thus ends my nice long time off. Back to the grind tomorrow. But it’s a broken week - I have jury duty on Weds, so there’s that.

I’m still waiting for snow. And there seems to be two basic attitudes around here, there’s “Oh, shut up, once it gets here you’ll be sooorrrrry!” or “I know! Me too! It’s so beautiful, you won’t believe it!” concerning it. Also some people think we should have a foot on the ground by now while others don’t think it’s really late yet. ARRRRRRGH! I still want it to get here, though. They’ve opened one of the ski runs right up the road from where I live (snow machines!) and this morning when I went out there were all these itty-bitty skiers going down. There was no point in getting pictures because they’d look like blurry little specks, but there they were. Rumor has it they didn’t open the mountain until sometime in December years ago, but now that they have the snow machines, I guess they see $$$$ so they go for it early.

I thought I’d be freezing my butt off every time I went outside by now, but today it was in the mid-20sF when I left, so I only had to wear my heavyish jacket, and I was actually a bit too warm having it fastened up. I can’t figure out if my body’s thermostat is broken or if I have acclimated scary fast and should always have lived in cold places. Either way, I don’t really mind, but it’s kinda freaky. “Wow, it’s kinda warm. It’s going to get above freezing today!” was my thought when I looked at the forecast. My perspective has changed so fast it’s scaring me, honestly!

I miss ya’ll. I’ve been working a lot - I’s tahred. Tonight I shift from 1st to second shift for a week; at least I’ll be able to get slept out tonight.

DB, Saturday night I saw the worst example of officiating I have ever seen in hockey. Huntsville only had 2 or 3 penalities that weren’t for fighting the entire game. We had 180 something penalty minutes. It was horrible. Our guys weren’t really playing well the first period, and by the end of the first they were scared to do anything for fear of drawing a penalty. I swear, we got tripping penalties if one of their players fell, even if none of our guys were near them. It was horrible. Our coach threw a fit about halfway through the third and left. By the end of the game we only had about 6 players left on the ice; the rest had been thrown out. We lost 10-2.

The main reason I started back to work was for the health benefits, but it is nice to have my own money to spend. Mr. SCL pretty much let me spend what I wanted, but it’s different if it’s mine! I bought myself a bottle of Red Door cologne today!

I do miss ya’ll - hope to get back in here more often now that I’m on second shift.

Happy Birthday Rue!!!
…[/color]…*

I got off at 11 last night, and had to go back to work at 5 this morning.No day off toady, gt.

CutiePie is somewhere in the MMP.

FCM, it must be an Intarweb problem, because all I see is cat butt.

mmmmmmm, care to share some of that cleaning energy?

Glad the visit went OK, Shadow.

SCL, I didn’t know Mick McGoo still did minor league games. We used to sell Red Door at Phar-Mor.

Funny enough, here I am. Today hasn’t been very good. It seems to be a pattern that whenever I come back from my weekend at TVMan’s that I start my downward spiral again. I had to come back early yesterday because of dog allergies and last night was at least an hour or so of crying myself to sleep. This morning I actually made it to church, first time in a year or so, but when I got back home I started crying and being generally crabby once again. Twice this morning I managed to turn my left ankle. Somehow, though, when I woke up from my nap, my RIGHT foot was barely working. I had to have PieDad do the grocery shopping for tomorrow because I couldn’t walk. Which, of course inspired more crying, etc.

One good thing, I guess is that TVMan and I are buying a pair of air purifiers for his house. It’s going to be our Christmas present to each other. Boring, I know. But hopefully it will make it a little bit easier for me to breathe.

FCM, I loved all of your wares. Simply beautiful!

Cat butt??

FCM, I think doggio is referring to this…

Kinda figured you had the joy of more work, doggio, but I thought I’d optimistically check.

Nice to see you stop by, SCL.

Back from mass and shopping. Two separate things. :stuck_out_tongue:

Need to scavenge for dinner. Then do a bit more cleaning and maybe a bit of reading.

Back eventually.

I am unutterably depressed and thinking of taking to my bed to sleep forever.

That’s all.

(((rigs)))

{{{{rigs}}}}
{{{{CutiePie}}}}

Have you ever wanted to be understood and are just not? That’s where I am.

And the other thread I’m in isn’t helping today (never mind).

Thanks for the hugs. Back atcha both…

{{rigs & cutie pie }}

What is going on rigs - you know you can always share here…

As for me I vacuumed the entire house, scrubbed my bathroom and the other bathroom, dusted everywhere, sorted out a bunch of stuff for good will, put up outside lights - well 6 staked light Christmas trees as my ladder was not tall enough to reach the apex of my garage to string lights, changed the litter box, changed my dining room table runner to my Christmas one, changed the bed sheets and I have my last load of laundry in the dryer. Oh and I am about to put the lasagne together - whew busy day.

doggio I am channeling the cleaning energy vibes in your direction OR I am hireable for a small fee to clean for you?

K - Time for an nice glass of the red wine that I put in the lasagne and jump in the shower before I layer the lasagne!

30 gallons so far, and there’s no end in sight. I’m pickin’ my nuts like a mfr…

:wink: :smiley:

Hugs to both rigs and cutie pie. Sorry you’ve had sucky days.

My work life lately has consisted of a lot of not being understood, so, yes, I can relate, rigsy.

I’ve crawled into bed, am gonna call Mom so that she doesn’t interrupt me later, and then I’m gonna read for a while.

See y’all in the next MMP…

GT

It’s late in this MMP, so I may mention this again in the next one, but I think that TVMan has Absence (petit mal) seizures fairly frequently. I was just reading up on them and it sounds alot like what happens to him during conversations. Anyone here have any experience with Epilepsy? He’s had at least 3 grand mal seizures in his life, but I wonder if anyone else in his family has ever noticed these other ones. Not sure what to do about this.
