I am hoping to sell a bunch of Magic:The Gathering, Legend of the Five Rings and Illuminati cards. Have any of you used Blackborder.com for card sales or do you know anything about its auctions? Would it be better to use e-Bay?
I am thinking of using Blackborder, but I want to know if it’s reliable and trustworthy.
Thanx
I have no information about Blackborder.com itself. However, as a seller, you should almost always go to eBay. That’s because it has the largest audience of potential buyers. More buyers means more bidding, which means the sale price will go higher. The only exception would be if the comissions charged at another site were significantly lower such that you save more than you earn by the larger field of potential buyers. But if you’re planning to sell more than a few low-cost items, it’s unlikely that this will be the case.

Well, this sucks. The only other person on the Boards who knew what the hell I was talking about when I mentioned L5R is selling his stuff.
Anyway, PC, I’d have to recommend eBay, because frankly, that’s where all the suckers are. As stated, your buying audience is much larger. Also, with the smaller auction sites, you run into a sort of “gentleman’s agreement”, wherein the closing prices for auction are much lower than they would be on eBay. The smaller sites are geared more toward the serious player who buys what they need and sells what they don’t, where eBay is the home of the brats who control their parents and the jackasses who are using cards in substitute of their penises. Both of these latter groups are the cash cows for CCGs. I sold my entire M:tG collection on eBay and was very happy with the results.
If you have any sort of list together for your L5R cards, I’d be more than happy to take a look at it and maybe take some off your hands.
Thanx for the advice, Cliffy & Flypside.
Flypside, I am going to put together a list of my L5R cards tonight and will be more than happy to send this to you via e-mail.
