I have a a bunch of Magic cards I would like to sell, some of reasonable value (at least one worth over $150 and a few worth over $100). I ma looking for what it the most trouble free and safely way to sell them. I have a neighbors who is deep in my local gaming community and he told me he had no buyer and most of the stores in my area don’t buy form people any more. I was surprised to hear that so my plan A is out. Any suggestions from people who have done it? Thanks.
In your situation, I’d guess eBay. Sell the high value cards individually and the rest as a bulk lot (or multiple bulk lots depending on the number of cards).
The issue you’re facing is a scarcity of purchasers in any given area. See, a $100 card is only a good purchase to someone who is playing Legacy tournament rules (or maybe Modern/EDH). But a “good” Legacy deck can start in the thousands of dollars. Therefore, most people don’t play Legacy tournaments and thus don’t want your $100 card. This is why your local cards/comics shop isn’t keen on buying your cards either; they’re too hard to unload locally – most people buy single cards that are legal in Standard tournaments (typically printed within the last 12-18 months). So your best bet to reach the audience you need is likely eBay.
