You can’t find anything to say because… you have a lousy sense of humor Just like me :o :smack:
:: perks up :: What’s this about sucking?
It’s the “client” software system – not the actual “client company,” whom I’ll call the “customer” – that is “complaining” (aborting connections) due to the short timeouts. Now it is the customer who changed the timeout; that was because the longer timeout was affecting the client s/w. They just didn’t realize that the shorter one would affect us (and the whole system integration in the process.)
It’s really quite straightforward. If you’re a computer geek… In other words, sorry if I’m being abstruse.
Any ideas, beyond the idea of having breakfast together, weren’t mine. No siree! ::halo::
But I like your way of thinking
SnowBunny – ouch! Isn’t there any way of fixing it without major surgery? They can do so much with micro-surgery nowadays!
McUne – did my Good Vibes make it across the Ocean and the Continent in time before the interview? Did you time their arrival so we can do the Speed of Vibe calculations later?
And – how did the interview go?
ETA: VBob – sounds like your kid is going to be juuuuust fiiiine…
Thank you all for the good vibes! My cd drive kept opening up and delivering the good vibes, thoughts, so I think I got them all
I think it went ok, but I don’t know. There were 4 people on the team and I knew all of them. Three of the four seemed to write a lot, and one didn’t, but that doesn’t surprise me. It’s hard to say how it went. They said that I should have a decision in a couple of weeks, possibly by next week. I’m hoping I do get it. I think this is going to be a test of patience for me though, lol.
And did it ever. Losts of high winds, rain like you wouldn’t believe, and lots of lightning to keep the cats under the beds until well past midnight.
Great storm, because I got everything watered (and then some), and had no wind damage (unless you count the pot of tomatoes that got blown over on the deck, which I don’t.)
I went there myself a few years ago for a second degree. The first two weeks were tough, what with all the jiggle. I had to remind myself that I was literally old enough to be their father…
Da RugRat is smart enough to know there’s nothing wrong with just looking…
Already took one. I’m off today, so I’m cleaning and doing laundry. I took Maggie to the vet, she was not eating and puking again. She got a steroid shot, and some prednisone, hope it helps.
Well, it might be dangerous if **Bobbio ** naps while driving the fire truck, but our bi-weekly hourlong “process improvement” conference call is a terrific way to inspect the ol’ eyelids from the inside. Just have to remember to put the headset on mute, lest anyone hears the snoring!
I just got up about an hour ago, so I think I can probably pass on the nap. I crashed this morning without benefit of sleepy pill, so that could explain why I only got about 6 hours. And wouldn’t you know, about 4 hours into my snooze, the #%^$#&^ phone rang - someone begging for money (not a collections call - a “charity” call)… I’d turn the phone off, but technically, I’m on recall, so if the day shift has issues with what we did on nights, they’re supposed to call us. Except there’s not much we can say on the phone without violating security rules, plus the guy on days has been doing this stuff for the last 10 years, so he knows more than all the rest of us combined… still, the phone must stay on.
And thanks for all the sketty talk. I’ve now got a big pot o’ sauce simmering away. I should get at least 2 freezer bags out of it, as well as supper for tonight, so yum.
We’ve had 3 nights in a row of rain - last night we were spared the lightning and thunder. I can almost see the grass growing before my very eyes! Looks like there’s a mowing weekend in our future. It’ll be the 4th time this summer we had to mow. As opposed to weekly. Weird.
According to FCD, Scruffy seems to be having a hard time with me on nights. In the morning after he lets them out to pee, she comes in and goes from room to room, searching. He said the other morning, she actually jumped up to see if I was on the bed! Poor confused puppy… She’ll be even more confused when we get back on our regular schedule next week. And then when **FCD ** has surgery and I have to stay with my mom for a couple of nights, with the dogs, there will be further befuddlement.
And no, I won’t be staying with Mommy because I’m scairt. The surgery will be done in Baltimore and there’s no way I can commute the 2+ hours from here to the hospital without sleeping my way off the side of the road.
That’s all I’ve got for now. I still hate nights, but only 2 to go, and on one of them, we’re going to make ice cream. No, really - one of the Team Chiefs is bringing in a hand-crank freezer and all the basic ingredients, and we’re supposed to bring in the garnishes. So that’ll make it a little bit tolerable. Plus educational - I’ve never made ice cream before.
I think I’m gonna caffeinate. No way will I nap in the next 6 hours anyway.
Nope, and besides it wouldn’t count, because you two are the ones with the bionic knees. I was amused by the name, though.
yawn I hate the fact that I can’t sleep well when I know there’s an alarm that’s going to go off. You’d think that’s when I would sleep better, but no. This had better go away soon.
I got to brush out not one, but two labs today, besides a couple of other pups. The labs are my favorites, though, they’re easy to groom and they usually enjoy it. The humans owning the second one I did, though, reallllly need to brush her more often. I don’t think she’d been brushed since spring, because you wouldn’t believe the amount of undercoat I pulled out. I think it was all her winter hair! She looked, and must have felt, about a million times better when I was finished.
Hello, lovelies. Just a quick post to report that Scottish Darling and I have arrived in Boston. We’ve settled into our hostel which is vastly more pleasant than our NYC hostel, and while the weather is chilly it’s nowhere near the ridiculous cold spell NYC was experiencing while we were there. Tomorrow we’re heading up to Ipswich and Friday we head to Toronto. We’re going to be in a cabin in the middle of nowhere for a bit so I doubt I’ll be able to post until next Tuesday, which is when I fly back to Chicago.
Appropriate hugs, condolences, and good vibes to all!
It’s stayed cool here all day – so cool I had to break out a long-sleeved shirt because I was chilly sitting here in front of the open windows! In August! I sure hope it doesn’t heat up again for at least another day or two; I’m really enjoying this.
I was going to ask if FCD’s surgery was going to be at the hospital just up the road here where I had my knee done, FCM, but I gather it’ll be north of me. Oh well. I could have gone up and harassed all the knee patients (cause the spinal surgery patients are on the same floor as the knee folks). That would have been fun.
I’ve really had a quiet day. The most exciting thing was that the yard had dried up just enough that I could take Isaac out to play for the first time in three days. He’s a much more contented Idiot now.
**cherries **are fruit (obviously),
**flour **grows in a field, so is a plant which is practically the same as veg,
**chocolate **is a bean so that counts as a veg too,
**sugar **is a beet which is a veg,
**eggs **are laid by chickens who just eat grain, so are essentially vegetables
Health Factor of French Fries
**Potatoes **are a veg.
**Oil **comes from sunflowers (veg), corn (veg), vegetables (veg).
Now i 'splained all this am I forgiven for the nice song?
**MamaTigs ** - he’ll be going to Good Samaritan in Baltimore. He got wonderful care there last time, so at least that isn’t a big unknown. He’s lobbying to get it done right away, but I expect it depends mainly on the schedules of the 2 surgeons. Maybe next week we’ll know something.
Sketties were yummerrific! We ate our fill, and I still had enough left for 3 freezer bags and a small single-serving container. The bags are on the counter, cooling down a bit before I put them in the freezer. Hope I remember to do that before I leave.
Less than 3 more hours till my next-to-the-last shift-from-hell. Friday is going to be interesting - I get off at 7, but I have to be back for a VTC at 2. Unfortunately, there’s no place at work I can nap, and it’s going to be too hot to snooze in the car, so I’ll drive back and forth. I’d blow off the VTC, but it’s directly related to my next project and I already told the lead guy that I’d work it out. 'Cause I’m a Team Player, dammit!
Tomorrow is going to be a wee bit warmer than today, and on Friday, it looks like summer will return for the weekend. That should make mowing a bunch of fun… Oh well, a few more weeks and we should be in the blissful loveliness of fall. It has been nice having the windows open - both for the fresh air and also for the not-using-air-conditioner thing. I know the doggies like it - they can pretend to be outside.
How on earth did you get to be [del]an old broad[/del] your age without ever havin’ made ice cream?!?! I thought everybody did that. Maybe it’s just another one of them southern thangs, like cheese straws and hush puppies. I have a hand-crank and an electric ice cream freezer. Hand crankin’ is fun if’n ya gots several people to take turns. Otherwise I use the electric freezer. Come to think of it, I haven’t made any ice cream this whole summer. We may have to rectify the situation either this weekend or the next.
Ok, I’m gettin’ sick of this reselect situation at work. It was bad enough decidin’ on whether or not to keep Schlitz. Now it’s malt liquor. Several varieties even. ::shudder:: Know what though? Malt liquor is pretty much malt liquor no matter what brand one buys. Still… EWWWWW!!! What’s even worse is tomorrow there’s all these 40 oz. bottles of the stuff! They’re in cases of 12, so it’s really just a matter of determining if there’s too much damage to the case due to contamination from the product that fell on top of 'em. So, at least I won’t have to look at the bottles, just the cases. I’m thankful for that. Malt Liquor. ::shudder::
BBBobbio if’n somebody requested a nekkid faireman to show up would you volunteer? Just wonderin’. Have I ever mentioned that one of my nieces graduated from the real Purdue campus? That was ten years ago. Dang! Makes Unca Swampy feel old!
MCUNE glad the interview went well and sorry I didn’t sent out vibes but I didn’t know til I read what’s gone on since I last read.
I’m hopin’ tomorrow I find out I get to go back to second shift. I’ve sorta hinted real big about how much I’d like that. What? I like it!
Nice to see you checking in, Hank. Hope you’re having a fun trip.
So scout, did your dream come true? Hope not.
Those of you out east who are experiencing cool temperatures: I’m guessing you’ll be getting our weather in a couple days. Lotsa rain and plenty of heat = lotsa humidity = yuckkkkkk. I think it’s trying to make up for all the rain we didn’t have earlier this summer. (Did I say that already?)
Love the nutritional analysis, zelie!
Fish, dinner…hmmm…my favorite way to make fish is with chopped tomato and onion and cilantro over it, lots of lime juice, baked. Haven’t made it in a while. And I have fish in the freezer. Maybe tomorrow?
Tonight: more skettis.
Hope FCD’s surgery can happen soon!
Guess I’ll finish dinner and consider doing something productive.
