A Random MMP (My first MMP!)

Thanks. It’s nearly 2 PM :stuck_out_tongue:

Didn’t work for me today :frowning: I’m on my third cup and I still dontwanna. Luckily, Quit O’Clock looms nearer and nearer as I type… it’s not like I generally manage to get out the door here at 5 PM, but I’ve probably got less than 4 hours before I say “f*** it” and call it a day.

Rigs – why do you create huge male deer at work?

I survived night #3. Two more to go. I still hate nights. And I’m off to dreamland. Later, doodz!

Y’all wanna see SwampBeer swoon? Here is a brief tale of nekkid fireman.

There I was, in bed around 0430, drifting in and out of sleep. The rescue squad was paged for a woman choking; since I had all of my radios turned up, I jumped out of my skin and was wide awake a few minutes ahead of my alarm clock. Since 15 minutes wasn’t worth it to try to go back to sleep, I got up and did my morning constitutional. I went back unto the bedroom and got nekkid to get in the shower.

DEEEEE duuuuuuh BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP There I am, naked as the day I was born, and there’s a fire. Put all my duds back on, tossed the scanner to the wife, and off I went. Even better, the scene was across the road from the rescue station.

The call was small potatoes. A loose connection in the meter base shorted, arced, and caught the outside wall of the house on fire. It was out quickly, and we had a good time picking butts at 0530. I was back home at the same time I normally leave for the office.

The old lady who was choking? Swallowed her partial plate, and the ambulance crew successfully extracted it.

Lots of rain last night, but no appreciable damage in the county. AFAIK, only one tree limb came down to partially block a road near the VunderLair. North of the line, Sean’s Hooterville got nailed good, and Suffolk had 8 fire calls in 15 minutes from lightning strikes and fallen trees.

Quick drive by today. Good mornings, good nights, boos, yays, as appropriate.

Can I get good vibes please? Interview is today.

Thanks MMPers!!!

Good vibes sent. Check your CD drive.

Ow. Swallowing a partial plate would not be fun.

I hope your daughter feels better soon, Taters. Summer colds are yucky.

I think the water will be on today. In spite of that, I’m still running around and taking myself out for lunch. And having tea in a few minutes. I’m not properly awake yet.

Good vibes for Most Creative headed out.

Tell me when my vibes get there, and we’ll be able to calculate the Speed of Vibe!

(OK, OK, we’ll need to figure out the distance, too. Stop confusing me with facts  :D)

The knee is mostly annoying. I’m told I have a bit of dead bone in there – that sounds worse than it is, I think – and it could have been that way for years. For some reason, in the past few months, it’s decided to start flaring up. It swells up and aches, though it doesn’t hurt as much as it looks like it should! I’ve gotten it drained once and got a cortizone shot which settled it down for a couple of months, but I think the whole process of moving and starting work again irritated it. I found what turned out to be a kick-ass knee brace at the drugstore yesterday and it’s feeling much better. I reallllllly don’t want to have surgery on it, but if it keeps doing this I think I’m going to have to. At least I don’t want to do it until spring, because the thought of learning to maneuver on crutches in ice and snow makes me want to scream. And I have to climb a flight of stairs to get to my place, and inside, another to get to the kitchen!

At least there are lots of orthopods around here who are good with knees, for some mysterious reason. g

The fire is going to be there for a while. As long as they can keep it away from the town, I’ll be happy. The farther, the better. It’s way smoky here today. And that’s mostly because they’re doing back burning to try to get it to go away from us. It makes sense, but it also makes for a lot of smoke. If it stays like this for more than a few more days, I might take my aunt up on her offer to stay at her place, but I’m hesitant to because I don’t want to take advantage of her, and also because she lives an hour away from work! I’m playing it by ear, as is the rest of the town. People seem to be pulling together and dealing with this really well.

I knew I should have gotten my pretty pictures sooner. I’m still going to, but they have to wait. Right now, it’s not so pretty here. Arrrrgh!

Extracting it would be no picnic, either. I say that seriously, because all the tools to do stuff like that are in a kit that I’m not supposed to touch.

If push came to shove I’d do it, but there’s potential for getting into big trouble, too.

Mornin’ all! Good vibes going out to fcdad, McUne, tatergirl, and anyone else I’ve left out who needs em.

Round two of the Chi Trots last night. Not quite as bad but I was still up to let her out three times. I don’t know what it is. She’s eating well and the same thing as the pug. Doesn’t appear sick. She’s just going like the energizer bunny. I’ll have to see how she does tonight.

PebbleTec is in the pool and it looks good. Today they do some kind of acid wash to it and then in goes the wa-wa.

Went with The Princess[sup]TM[/sup] for the final walk-trough of her new house. Very charming and very well kept. She is very excited. I’m very happy that it’s only about five minutes away from my house.

Well, I’d best be off to billing hell. :stuck_out_tongue:

Tupug

Last night was sketti night 'cause we had some too! Mmmmmm, sketti.

Good luck McUne!

Hope your daughter gets better quickly, taters.

Hope you can get the knee feeling better, palebunny.

gotti, as a data-user, I can imagine how much people were complaining about not being able to access their data. For those of us who are end users, there’s not much work that can get done without server access.

Kinda sleepy here this morning. 5 overcast, rainy days in a row after a summer of bright, sunny days makes everyone kinda blah.

Good morning, Mumpers!

My allergies are driving me CRAZY this morning! I can’t breathe through my nose, and the drainage is making me cough. Arggh.

Last night was fun. My son came over and paid on the rent, and washed some clothes, and ate dinner with us. He even helped cook! I enjoyed having him in the kitchen helping. Poor Mr Rebo had a long day and didn’t get home until 9:00, and had to eat leftovers. I made chicken with a cream sauce, with mushrooms and dill and capers, with noodles. Pete made Parmesan Zucchini Crisps. It was all very yummy!

Mr Rebo is so looking forward to getting back from vacation and using up his remaining three days job-hunting. He’s tired of the long commute, and the screwy way they schedule things. He wants to drive for a concrete company, hauling gravel or sand or whatever it is they use to make concrete. The hours are very good, so he hears, and it’s on our side of town. And you can keep the truck overnight if you have an early delivery. There is a place he can park about a block from us. So we’ll be needing crossed fingers soon!

Hugs and yays and boos and chocolate and good vibes to whoever needs them! And rain, too!

LemmeOut, welcome to the MMP!! That’s an impressive post count–40 posts since Dec 2006. You must be very discriminating where you post. Glad to see that you posted one here. And I hope you stick around. But be prepared for your post count to rise substantially when you do.

Oh, and since I don’t like rain, you can have all of mine.
(unfortunately, that’s none at the moment since it’s summer, but you can have my winter rain as well.)

**
Taters**, you’re a good mom for taking care of your daughter. I’m glad to hear that she’s OK.

Cite.

Oh wait! Is that what it means?! :smack:
:::trying to figure out a way to backpedal out of my earlier statement:::
See what happens? You try to be complimentary and you get sucked into the vortex.

 Why would your client reconfigure something you just installed? Why would they ask you for help and then try to change what you just did? If it wasn’t compatible with their system, why wouldn’t they tell you to change it when you installed it? Baffling.

You posted that at 11:43 pm my time and I was indeed fast asleep. Zzzzzzzzz.

McUNE, appendages crossed! Good luck!

Rebo, sending some allergy-healing vibes your way.
Good morning Mumpers! What’s with all the dontwannas today? I hope it’s not contagious. What do y’all wanna? I hope you get some of that. And have a wonderful day!

Morning, all. <yawn> I’m just not firing on all cylinders this morning. It’s also cool here – a whopping 64°, apparently a full 20 degrees below normal! Works for me. I was almost too cool last night; if I hadn’t been so completely out of it, I might have gotten up and put a warmer blanket on the bed. As it was, I woke up chilly. In August! The world is indeed a strange place.

Here’s hoping your daughter feels better soon, Taters.

Gee, a drugstore in a ski resort in Idaho that has kickass knee braces, snowbunny? What a shocker! So is it the one you mentioned on the phone yesterday, the bionic one? Cause that would make us a three-generation bionic knee’d family, between my mom and me and you!

Not much else to report this morning. I’ve just got a pile of work, so I should probably get back to it. <yawn>

Lunch I make a mean omelette and you are more than welcome to come and visit but the soon to be hubby may have other ideas if he visits from Texas at the same time!

I ended up have cheese and broccolli (sp???) soup that I doctored up with real broccoli (better sp?? I can’t tell) parmesan, some cajun spices and a dollop of sour cream with yummy fresh doughy bread.

Overall it was good. I am already looking for ideas for tonight. Thoughts?

VBob nekkid firemen? Did everyone turn up nekkid or just you?

So I had a dream last night.

I was at work, and my boss sent me the following email:

“Interesting. So, what are we working on today, Stephanie?”

I felt mortified, because he’d realized I’d been surfing the internet all day.

[sub]god I hope it doesn’t come true[/sub]

It was just me, and I was at home. However, that was the second time I’ve been paged while doing shower stuff; proof that water conducts electricity.

I don’t think that much of my department can be nekkid and not be liable for brain bleach for public consumption…

I’ve finally gotten the check requests straightened. A hapless temp sent the check requests to expense reimbursement instead of Accounts Payable. That doesn’t work so well. They’re not even in the same state - for all I know, they’re not on the same continent. I found all of mine that went astray, and warned the woman the temp was covering for to be on the lookout for others. Sigh. She was trying to be helpful. But it took 3 weeks to realize what had happened - when our vendors started asking where their checks were. I get into more trouble *assuming * that other people are competent…

Today is the first day of classes at IUPUI (Purdue’s Indianapolis branch) for the VunderKind. Early this morning, I sent him a text message wishing him a good day, and warning him to not let all of the bouncing boobies on campus pop his eyes out.

He just replied. He thanked me for the good wishes, but could make no promises in the eye department.

That’s my boy…

People trying to get loan decisions were grumpy and anyone trying to get money out of “foreign” ATMs wasn’t too amused either. At least we got the wires out on time yesterday, and that’s a Big Thing.
