Does anyone have any suggestions on how to mail cookies to someone? I’ve been asked and begged to mail cookies and have never done it before. They would be simple chocolate chip ones, nothing fancy. I figure the MMPers know all so they would be able to help me.
I’m in the midst of counting what is supposed to be 700 highlighters. So far, I have 604, with well over 100 to go. :dubious: Oh, well, better too many than to be short, I guess.
The only suggestion I have for mailing cookies is that should be moist, not crisp. Regular chocolate chip cookies seem to travel well. They should be well wrapped, placed in a box, and then placed in a larger box with packing material, like foam peanuts. Under no circumstances should you label them “Cookies.” They’ll never reach the recipient, especially if they live/work with other people.
However, I’ve never mailed cookies before, so I can’t guarantee effectivenss. (Help, help, the corporate paradigm has caught me today and I can’t stop babbling buzzwords!)
And now my week is done. I goofed and forgot the whole AM/PM thing when setting the alarm on the TV (which serves as the alarm clock for our bedroom) I wanted to get up at noon-thirty. For some reason, I looked at the clock at noon-forty-five, and when the brain fog cleared, I realized what I’d done. So it was a quick hop into the shower, a quick visit to the yard for the doggies, and out the door to work.
When I got there, I realized I’d neglected to check which VTC room would be used (we have 4 or 5, I think) so I found an empty terminal, logged into my email, and freaked for a few minutes - the location box was empty. Fortunately, the email was sent from the specific conference room, and once I saw that, I faced a run all the way to the other end of the complex. Even at that, I was the first to arrive.
The conference was late getting started due to some of the out-of-area participants. After introductions, they started talking about who to invite to a meeting in October. This conversation went on for about half an hour, and all the while I’m wondering why it wasn’t handled via email. Then our connection dropped. The A/V guys messed with it for a bit, and we finally decided that it wasn’t worth it. So I drove all the way back there for pretty much nothing. Well, not entirely. We had some participants on our end who I’ll be able to work with - in fact, I’d kinda like to go to work for them… hmmmm…
But now I’m home and exhausted. **FCD ** is home and exhausted. We may run out to get a quick dinner, but I see us crashing early tonight. We’ve got a salesguy coming tomorrow to give us an estimate on new windows, but with the surgery impending, we’ll be putting them off yet again. Oh well…
TGIF anyway.
I’d add that you should consider vacuum sealing them before boxing, to insure their freshness upon arrival
'Ullo, all. Home from work and tahred. But I came home and found the Husband home and so we well, you know had a nice afternoon
. [del]Chaperons[/del] Kids are now home. The Husband is out sawing up the large branchs from yesterday. I don’t trust the sunny sky right now–and the temp is dropping somewhat (thank og). We’re supposed to get hail and more T-storms later today. Ugh.
Great day at work, except for psycho ex-wife who made a scene because dad DARED to be there for his son’s surgery. Don’t know the details, but she was a crying, yelling wreck through the whole thing–Dad and son were fine. Very weird.
Yard work tomorrow–supposed to be gorgeous out. yay!
In other words - y’all appreciated each other
Thank Og I can leave work now (had to stay to get a project done since I’m off on Monday)
PT called me earlier and asked if I really wanted to come in this evening - Their last two patients cancelled and they wanted to go home early
I let them, because I’m nice, too, dammit!
Yay for afternoon appreciatin’ rigs! ![]()
BioRosie I have not added my .02 yet, but I say go for it. The worst thing is you don’t get the job. The best thing is you do get the job. Plus, like others said, you get interview experience. That’s always a good thing.
BBBobbio HS football starts here next weekend. RAH!
Today at work I was shown a bunch of cans of Texas Select, a low alcohol “beer”. A thing I had not heard of before today. Yep, I spent three hours decidin’ what to keep and what to send to [del]beer dump[/del] the recycling center stuff I’d never even heard of before today. I have such a strange job sometimes!
Supper tonight was bacon cheeseburgers and fries, or as you extremely weird Non-Amurrkins say, chips. YUM! I hadn’t grilled any burgers in a while so they were soooooo good! Ol’ y’all know who snarfed down two of 'em. I say, a man with a full tummy will show “appreciation” later. ![]()
OK, since I did not get to do this week’s MMP like I was supposed to, I assume there are no objections to me doin’ Monday’s MMP? After all I do have one all prepared.
All in favor of me doin’ Monday’s MMP say “Aye”.
AYE!!!
All those opposed, as if anybody would listen, say “Nay”.
::CRICKETS::
The “AYES” have it then. I shall host next week’s MMP. No interlopers this time! Not that Socks ain’t welcome to participate anytime he/she wishes, of course.
ETA: BioRosie how nice of you to sacrifice your PT time tonight just so the therapists can go home early. Especially since we all know how much you just lurve goin’ to therapy! ![]()
Speaking of Socks, what the heck happened to our starter? We’re not that scary, are we? I mean, **swampy ** has been keeping his TMI in check of late and everything!
We did supper the easy way - my sweetie had a hankerin’ for Popeye’s chicken, so we rode into Charlotte Hall and had some chicken and sides. Now we’re both home and crashing. We’re both exhausted, so I see us asleep way early tonight. Which is fine.
Tomorrow, we’ll get up and mow before it gets too horribly hot. Then after the replacement window guy leaves, we’ll dispose of our garbage and recycling. That’ll take care of our weekend chores. So yay.
Meanwhile, we’ll just chill. <insert barely stifled yawn here>
Help me Mindude wherever you are!!! The evil… it’s so… evil!!! It rides around da ‘hood as I post playin’ that insipid music and yellin’ out HELLLLOOOO! Make it stop. Bestow your mighty ice cream truck humiliation skilz upon me! It’s so… so… so… EEEEEEEEVVVVVVVVIIIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLL!!!
FCM FWIW I vote y’all chill this weekend too, except for gettin’ the grass mowed. We wouldn’t want the neighbors to gossip about you havin’ an unkempt yard after all. Speakin’ of which, I mowed the grass at da cave Wednesday afternoon after work. Good timin’ too, cause we had biiiiiiig rains yesterday mornin’ and have had some rain this afternoon with the promise of more this evening into tomorrow mornin’. YAY!
I was going to go see Harry Potter at the movies tonight as I still haven’t seen it but I’s tahred… … I belive a nice glass of vino and some dinner yet to be decided and bed is what I am headed for.
rigs congrats on the afternoon appreciating at least someone somewhere is getting some! MrEms-to-be will be here on Sept 13th
Yay! I’m verra glad it’s Friday, that’s fer sure.
I’ve got my FCM dish on my desk at work, filled with (mostly) chocolate candy–it looks beautiful and thank you so much, FCM!
BioRosie, I’ll chime in with the others to say Go For It! too.
I have no real plans this weekend, other than just chillin’ - being that I live in the DC area, it’s going to be in the upper 90s so it will just be too hot to be outside. I’ve got to grocery shop but will be able to do that early in the morning, likely on Sunday.
I work for the Federal Govt., and the end of the fiscal year is next month, so they’re just gearing up for end of year spending. The next 5 weeks will probably be pretty manic, so I’m just going to relax as much as possible over the weekends to try to counter the stress of the work weeks.
Hope everyone enjoys their weekend.
I’m home, having some noodles and sushi, and surfing. My neck still hurts a little, took 2 tylenol today. It’s 95 right now.
In bed! <snerk>
I hope you get the job, McOne!
For the Fest or the Deocculation?
Sorry aboyt the weekend, MamaTigs. Maybe you could train the idiots to sub for you?
rigs, you don’t have to be shy. As an adult you can get your freak on anytime you want. ![]()
swampy, that’s not beer. That’s not even “beer”. That’s corn soda.
Is that what that means? (the get your freak on)–I never knew!
I am back from foraging for food–$205 worth. And I forgot walnuts. Too bad! No more food/money for us! <soup Nazi voice>
The husband has turned off the AC. One minor point–it hasn’t cooled down YET. What to do? Take a bath and go to bed–I’s tahred from my shift today and foragin’ (and apparently am channeling Swampus).
I bought a leg of lamb today–and I was tempted by the veal (when I was a child, veal was CHEAPER than chicken!). No idea why I’m hating on lil fluffy mammals, but I sure hope it tastes good.
Enjoy your weekend, folks. I’ll be knee deep in mud, muck, mosquitos and mites. Care to join me?
Ummmm…thanks, but no, rigs.
I was going to ask about Socks too. Stop back and tell us how your week went or something…
Had a very pleasant dinner at a friends. Yummy salmon.
Very tired, so I’m crawling into bed.
Back tomorrow…

Nobody posted overnight? How bizarre
That is weird, isn’t it? I was asleep. Need to clean up here a bit in case brother and kids get here before I come home… Then off to the park for a meeting.
Happy Saturday, everyone!

It’s so humid today, there are water droplets on all my screens
I have a bunch of errands to run, including (trying to) getting Smokey to the vet for her overdue annual checkup. She’d better cooperate with me today is all I’m daying.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ here. Ok, been up for a little over an hour. Ol y’all know who is still snoozin’. When it awakens I shall make us some breakfast. My very own homemade Egg Mc Muffins! Ok, so they’re not hard to make. I mean, egg, canadian bacon, cheese and an english muffin. Duh! Still they’re good. Plus I have me some homemade strawberry preserves (given to me by a good friend) to put on 'em, so double YUM!
We’re gonna go runnin’ around for a bit. It rained durin’ the night so it’s relatively coolish here, meanin’ that’s it’s only 75 Amurrkin outside right now! And overcast. Could be rainy later today. YAY! I need to go to the bread store and ACBG wants to look for some new pants. We’re thinkin’ stinky chili/cheese/onion/slaw dogs for lunch. We’ll buy a bag of 'em and eat ‘em on the back porch cause ain’t no way I’m lettin’ those things in da cave! They’re good but when I say stinky, I mean stinky! Plus the after effects of 'em are well, let’s just say, can be even stinkier.
Ok, off to awaken sleepin’ bear and do some brekkies.
Later Y’all!
I didn’t know the bread store sold pants? Or does the certain somebody want edible pants as a treat for you?
the humidity is warping my brain
Morning, all. I was here last night but, frankly, I had less than nothing to say; I was just puttering at some work but mostly just vegging in front of the TV. Fortunately, my formerly-quiet-but-suddenly-less-quiet weekend just got quieter again – turns out one job I’d been sent has already been done, so yay! that’s a nice chunk I don’t have to worry about. It was a job I hated anyway and only do for the $$.
So I slept well and woke up to a snuggly, purring kittycat who did not want me to get up. So I didn’t, until finally nature called louder than the cat purred. There’s not much nicer than waking up to a purring kittycat, is there?
I have no idea what I’ll do today other than caffeinating and puttering at work some more. It’s going to be too hot to go anywhere, thanks to the humidity, so I expect I’ll cower in the nice cool house if possible. Envy me my exciting life.
Where was everyone else last night?
