A Random MMP (My first MMP!)

NO MORE NIGHTS!!! * <flinging confetti with wild and reckless abandon>*

Last night went pretty fast, especially towards the end when I decided to do a bunch of data entry. So, I’ve learned that I won’t actually die if I have to work the mid shift, but it’s not something I have a hankerin’ to do any time soon. In a little bit, I’ll lie down for a nap, but I need to get up around 12:30 to shower, dress, lunch, and go back to work for the VTC. Unless I get a call that it’s canceled (fingers crossed)

The ice cream was very good - the freezer made about 5 quarts - mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. It was kinda soft, but very tasty, especially on top of the yummerrific brownies that the senior engineer brought. Good way to end a week of horrid work hours.

I closed the house when I got home. It wasn’t hot yet, but definitely way too humid. So I dropped the thermostat to do a good drying, then I’ll let it go back to the scheduled temp when I go to my meeting. Plans for the weekend are sorta in flux - **FCD ** hasn’t been sleeping well with me not here, so we may spend a lot of time just kinda hanging around being bums. Which works.

And that’s all the news that’s fit to print. I’m going to crawl into bed for a few hours - a power nap has to help, right? And if I’m lucky, the meeting will be canceled and I won’t have to drive back there. If I’m lucky… But for now, I can hear my pillow calling.

Checking my morning email, I have received some very good news:

Sounds like a bizarre fortune cookie.

TGIF!!!

I’m gonna be busy today, but that’s ok, because it makes the time go by faster.

I’ll keep tabs on you guys, though! See ya!

Go for the jobm rosie. You can do it. Although writing resumes sucks. Least favourite part of job-hunting

Yawn. Today it’s laundry and a Fun Family Costco Experience. This is yet another attempt in teaching Mr. Lissar to shop and cook. There’s extra pressure now.

I’m thinking that we’ll swop the presents that the parents are giving us, and either ask Mr. Lissar’s Dad for the washer/dryer and my parents for a stroller or nothing, or buy the washer ourselves. The car is totalled, and their not sure how much money the insurance will pay out. They need to buy a new car. Eek. They got the broken one I think only two years ago.

How’s everyone’s morning going so far? Full of caffeine?

Morning, y’all. LiLi I’m consuming my share of caffeine.

Not much today. Quiet night re: emergency stuff in Mayberry. I have ambulance duty tonight, and I think I have to go babysit the high school football game. Another duty day Sunday.

BioRosie, since nobody else has mentioned it yet, go for the new position.

VWife has a very tenative date for knee job #1 on September 24th.

Waaay to much stuff to catch up to… I’m sure **Roo **left me a message somewhere in the last 30 messages or so… but no time to go look for it now. She’s probably asleep right now anyway… Quick, before she gets up, anyone else who’s disappointed they aren’t getting flirted with…

Been a busy day here… wife is flying out early tomorrow morning for a 4-day conference, so lots of packing going on. And my 15-YO is going away to school on Wednesday – barely hours after wife is landing – so more packing. AND as of yesterday I have a new niece, as well… so even more excitement. I think I’ll rest at work on Sunday  – and it’s not like work isn’t hectic enough, either!

Y’all have a great day over on that side of the world. **Rosie **-- dunno what has been discussed above, but I still say use the weekend to polish your resume!
Speaking of **Rosie **-- has anyone seen LOUNE, alive or otherwise?

LOUE’s alive, he posted above somewhere. I’m too lazy to go and look for it.

I’m working today 7:30-4, YAY! On a Friday there is nothing better than getting done at 4 instead of the usual 5.

Still no word on the job, although one of the people on the team said I nailed the interview. So we will see. As long as none of the other 5 applicants have more experience than me, I’m feeling positive about it. Now I just gotta be patient. Easier said than done.

I have to pack tonight. We are going away for the weekend to visit my parents and a couple of my highschool friends are coming over to scrapbook. That means instead of just tossing clothes in a bag, I have to pack scrapbook supplies as well. <sigh> I hate packing that stuff up. I’d rather just scrap at home, but it will be fun, so packing some stuff I will be doing. I always seem to forget something though, lol.

Mom’s birthday is on Monday and since she has to work on Saturday I will wrangle my little sisters into helping me back a cake for her. She will appreciate that. Speaking of birthdays, I must not forget her present at home. Gotta pack it.

I will be checking in today, or at least should be, work is slow today. :frowning: I want it to be busy.

I’m still working on both, actually. The new plan is a canola oil coated Slip-n-Slide.

Morning, all. I’m caffeinating, and am off to the doctor shortly; time to get a couple of scrips refilled. Then back home to work. Such an exciting life I lead.

Congrats on the new niece, SpecialOne!

Getting the resume brushed up and going for an interview is always good experience, Rosie. And you don’t need to get a suit, just a nice jacket you can wear with a skirt you already own; it’s good to have a jacket in the closet just in case, anyway. And doing interviews is always good experience. I was told many years ago that even if I’m not sure I want the job, I should go to every interview I can just for the experience.

Fortunately, in my line of work, after doing it for as long as I have now, I don’t really need to interview; I just send in my resume and they call one or two of my references to verify I truly have all this experience, and next thing you know they’re piling work on me. At least that’s what happened a couple years ago when I went to work (briefly) for that firm that went out of business shortly thereafter. I went down all suited up and ready to interview, and instead her question was, “How much work do you want?” I hadn’t even handed her my resume yet, just told her on the phone who trained me; so all it took was one phone call to them! Sometimes working for a small niche of this industry pays off.

Keep us updated on how Noor’s doing, Dotty – I’m still sending good thoughts her way.

Ouchie on the neck thing, canine servant – I hope it feels better soon.

Oops, time to get changed to go to the doc. Later, everyone!

oh no! **LOUNE ** is caught in a perpetual loop!

Hmph. Well, details are still at 11.

Now that was freaky!! The very first paragraph hurled me back in time. To late 50s Binghamton, NY, to be exact, cause that’s my home town. And I remember that x-ray machine! And my feet in it!!!

Pool isn’t started yet because the super didn’t come yesterday but it’s guaranteed today. I stuck my feet in the water last night and it is tres warm. There’s gonna be some swimmins tonite!

doggio, I will get some cottage cheese for the stoopit dawg. She already eats ground turkey, brown rice, and veggies but I’ve been eliminating the veggies for the last two nights and she IS getting better.

rosie, you are an actress. The interview is just a role you can play. Ask a successful friend for a copy of their resume and tailor it to suit you and the position you are applying for. Suits aren’t really necessary for interviews anymore unless for a very stuffy organization. Just remember. They would much rather take the easy road and hire from within than go through all work of hiring from the outside.

Appropriate comments all round.

Tupug

Radium-laced chocolate bar, anybody?

Vertical, ventilating, caffeinating, employed.

Good enough…

I know I promised to tell you what happened with the Original Annoying Co-Worker [sup]TM[/sup]. So I asked around and nobody knows, which leads me to believe that either what she did was so heinous, everyone has been sworn to secrecy or that they finally accumulated enough warnings, etc. that she could be let go without adverse consequences. So disappointing, I know. I can’t think of anything more spectacular than some of the stunts she pulled and **didn’t ** get fired for, so I’m going with the latter option. All I know is, if I see her at any company I apply or interview at, I’m running the opposite direction. There is not enough money in the world to compensate for working with her.

I just found out this morning that I need to clean up my desk. The woman transferring in is going to be sitting here after all. Yikes! I just have a handful of things to move, and I should probably clean it, too. At least all of the make up (ick) from its former occupant has been removed. I do *not * understand how make up can get all over the phone. I’ve worked with lots of women who wore make up, but only a few who got it all over the place.

I suppose I should get to work on this stack of papers. On the bright side, I can add Taleo to my skill set. Definitely a win-win, even if that means I get sent out to HR positions.

It is Friday and I am soooooo pleased. This has been an odd week.

Dealing with people as a manager can be very frustrating at times - especially when they try to pull the weak woman crap because it worked with the previous boss who was male. Grrrrrrrrr I am so very full of grrrrrrr right now

Other than that no real plans for the weekend. I think I will go to the movies and then sort through my closets to donate stuff to Goodwill. I believe Pizza may be in my future for Saturday night

Okay, the fridge is cleaned out and I’ve been to the cheapie grocery store and restocked, the chicken quarters are thawing in cold water in the sink.

In typical MMP tradition of sharing, if you guys want an easy chicken recipe, you mix an 8-oz. jar of apricot preserves, half a package of onion soup mix and a small bottle of Russian dressing and pour it over 5 pounds of chicken pieces and bake at 325 for an hour, basting periodically. Good stuff, pretty foolproof, though I dread using the oven. I think it will be accompanied by stuffing and baked sweet potatoes, though I am craving 24-Hour Pea Salad. I just don’t have 24 hours.

TGIF, MMPers!!

I’ve had a seriously nonproductive yet busy day today. Went to the doctor, ran a couple errands on the way home. Got home, ate a quick bite, took Isaac out for a play session. Sat down to work, and Papa Tigs called on his way home for physical therapy to rant & rave for a while about the latest workplace idiocy. Visited with him a bit when he got home, did a couple of household chores, and sat down to try to work again. It’s now 3:51 p.m. and I have done about 20 minutes of productive work all day.

And did I mention that my nice quiet weekend has evaporated? :smack: I got sent a bunch of last-minute digital files to get done by early next week. Of course, I won’t be able to do hardly any work Monday because Papa Tigs is getting an injection done to help his painful neck. So I’m not sure when I’m going to get the stuff done except over the weekend. Crapola. And here I was looking forward to a nice quiet weekend, for a most welcome change!

What happened to a nice slow August???

Apparently some concrete fell off an overpass onto the Washington Beltway a while ago and they had it down to next to no lanes moving. Papa Tigs called me from on his way over to therapy to tell me he’d just heard a traffic report that said the backup goes from the Parkway to the Dulles Toll Road – or, for those unfamiliar with the Beltway, about half the circumference of the city! He is thanking his lucky stars that he bailed out onto another route home, or he’d be sitting on the Beltway probably till he ran out of gas.

Anyway, I guess I really should try to get something done, so the day’s not a complete writeoff. Ta ta!
