A Random MMP (My first MMP!)

Thanks, MamaTigs! We have one here, I think - I need to look…

We haven’t had any rain yet, but from the looks of the radar, we should get some soon. Here’s hoping…

nighty night - I am off to sleep.

Awww, poor Rusty!

My aunt lives in the middle of freakin’ NOWHERE. You go something like thirty miles, turn off the two-lane highway, which is the access to the towns up here and beyond, onto a road that doesn’t even have lane lines, so is technically considered a one-lane road, though it’s wide enough to pass. Then you go TEN MILES through…desert, basically. Then you turn right and you keep going for a little bit more, then once you hit the dirt road you’re almost there. I’ve never been to a place that far out where people live. She says she doesn’t tell people she lives in a rural area, she says it’s remote. Damn straight. Here I thought I was somewhat off the beaten path. Ha!

Everybody cross your fingers – we’ve been getting some wind today and will overnight, which is the last thing we need right now. The firefighters are out there busting their asses, and they’ve been expecting this, but lower humidity plus wind equals not good conditions for them, or for a bunch of neighborhoods to the south of me that are being evacuated because of the chance of spot fires and heavy smoke. I shudder to think of what they consider heavy, after what it was like out there this morning.

home. Ugh. These people are way too fragile, another call in.

I’ll keep you in my prayers, snowbunny.

Rosie, I see the resemblance, but you’re cuter.

I’ve noticed; you have a short (attention) span.

Nice try. But I can chew bubble gum and drive at the same time. I think I’d notice. And I don’t have a **short (attention) span.
**
Jahdra
, Ravelry does look fun though. It might be worth signing up (for me) just to get the reminder in e-mail so I don’t have to remember to go back there later. Have you found anything especially interesting there?

FCM, here’s some oxymoronica for that salesguy.

And I haven’t seen a basic sewing machine in a very long time. Of course, I haven’t looked for one in a long time either. I used to have a very basic Bernina a long time ago. Those were the best. Maybe they still have used ones hanging around.
**
Lili**, wow, you read those links carefully. I never would have picked that up about the chocolate bars. I’ll try to remember that when I link to a really long site cite.

rosie, I gotta agree with doggio. I think you’re cuter than that picture of your mom. I don’t mean to insult your mom, though.

palebunny, fingers crossed.
And it’s bedtime again. The day went by much too quickly. But it was fun. Happy Saturday night everyone. . . especially those people who aren’t posting here or are on trips and stuff. ~waving to Haze~
(the standard good mornings to Lunch and Dotty (are you OK?))

Howdy all! ::waves to Roo::

We are all okay - just a busy weekend, filled with baby, grocery shopping, dinner with some girlfriends and a long-overdue red wine hangover! Yes, I actually got to drink to excess and stay up late, 'cause hubby did the early morning feed yesterday! I slept in 'til 9:30am, something I haven’t done since at least 4 1/2 months ago!!! As for drinking excessive quantities of red wine (or any alcohol for that matter), Friday night was the first time since last July!!!

Thoughts and prayers for all the weather-threatened MMPers!

rosie, you better apply for that job, or I’ma gonna reach through my CD drive and give you a good shake!

Okay, gotta run now - grumpy baby screaming for attention!

Dotty, great to see you. :::bounce, bounce, bounce::: And a :::snoopy dance::: for the sleep in and the relaxed evening you had with friends.

You and Lunch seem to do a lot of grocery shopping. Is it different there than it is here? I’m serious. You both describe it like it takes the major part of your day. Is that just because you have young families or is it different there for some reason? I even thought I saw Lunch say that he goes to grocery shop and then has his groceries delivered. :dubious: I didn’t understand then but didn’t stop to ask. Did I remember that correctly?

~waving back to Dotty~

Roo, grocery shopping rates a mention 'cause it is an excuse to run away and leave hubby to look after Noor for a couple of hours! I always do my weekly menu plan and write up my shopping list in advance, but then I love to just browse the aisles and look at all the wonderful ingredients that I don’t need! It sometimes leads to inspiration for the next week’s meals!

Today is playgroup day, so I am running around gettting things organised before we head out in about 30 minutes. We missed it for about 6 weeks on account of Noor’s diarrhoea, followed by the head-cold and other things which intervened. My mother tells me it is important for Noor’s social skills that she interact with other babies/kids from early on, so I try to think of it as a social outing for us as well as an important developmental activity for HRH!

Off to finish packing our bag!

Good Morning, people! Enjoy what’s left of your weekend! Enjoy it for me, too, 'cos I’m here working…

I think you’re conflating two things here – the “short” and the “at attention” refer to two different situations

I’m sure you have a … well-rounded… personality, though…

It doesn’t really take a major part of my day, or week. Normally I’ll do one large shopping session on Friday morning – and yes, it’s a neighborhood supermarket, so I then get the groceries delivered. That will take about 2 hours all told (including waiting at home for the delivery).
But with a large family and with kids, you’re always running out of stuff in the middle of the week… so some short forays to the store are required on other days as well. It’s not some all-consuming task, though, if it seemed that way.

Dotty – good to see you! Missed you, too. If you got drunk on red wine should you be singing?

SnowBunny – fingers crossed for the winds to die down; or (maybe better) to turn around and blow the fire back into areas that have already burned.

Swampy – another vote for “go for the consultancy fees”

Rigs – you’re completely destroying your image as a saint… drinking and … other stuff? Total perdition… Which is a good thing!

FCM – I feel your pain (pane? sorry…) regarding awful salespeople for otherwise good products. Let the company have a piece of your mind… maybe even on the phone. Tell them you liked the product but there’s no way you’re buying stuff from a salesperson like that. Now if they’d like to send out a more reasonable salesperson… and maybe give you a break on the price for your “mental anguish”… Eh, I’m no good at this. I’m sure Zelie, **Jahdra **and **Swampy **will be happy to offer you consultancy as to how to get the most out of them…

Good night, Roo!

Dotty, wow, grocery shopping as a get-away. Who’da thunk?

Have fun at playgroup!

Lunch, good night! And yes, it’s still night here and yes, I’m still awake. . . but fading fast!

It’s arely past 11 PM at your end… you seem to be quick to get in bed…

Good morning, campers! I’m almost back on my old schedule. I was up till after 11 last night, but I awoke around 6:30 this morning, which is good. Critters have been tended to and I’m surfing till my sweetie drags himself out of the rack. I’ll finish making the sailcover today and we’ll install it. With luck, I’ll have a little time to do some claying. The show is less than 2 weeks away and I still haven’t got a kilnload. At this rate, I’ll be doing an all-in-one firing again. Oh well, with the 3-day Labor day weekend ahead, I should get it all done, no sweat…

**Special1 ** - I drafted and sent an email to the offending company last night. I don’t expect it to have great effect - our potential $11K sale can’t be that big a deal. And I told them not to bother calling me - I don’t want anything more to do with them. We’ll take our business to local companies - ones that are nearby and who, presumably, will be more responsive to customers.

Looks like we have a relatively mild day and week ahead - highest temp forecast for the next 10 days is 86. Yay! And low 60s at night - more open windows! I guess autumn is creeping in! Huzzah!

Oh, yeah, my darling daughter called last night - the screen on her laptop has died. Her fiance is going to lend her an old monitor, so she can see if it’s just the screen or the video card or something. She did say there’s a computer repair place on campus, so she may just go there and have it checked out. GAH! I was afraid senior year was going to be expensive, but sheesh!

On the other hand, she may be moving in with a friend for her last few months - right about the time her lease is up for renewal. That means instead of us having to send her extra every month to cover the increased month-to-month rental (even tho she’s been there 2 years, they won’t extend her lease for a lousy 3 months, and instead will charge her $$$ extra… grrrr) anyway, her expenses will go down, so we should be fine just sending what we normally do. Which is great!

Also, graduation is May 1, 2, or 3, so she said they’re looking to get married on May 4 or 5. She does intend to do the graduation walk - I was kinda hoping we wouldn’t have to sit thru that, but her dad wanted her to do it, so she’s doing it. Which is fine - and since she’s scheduled it like that, we won’t have to take too much vacation or make 2 trips down to Orlando. Then the 2 of them will spend their honeymoon driving north with us. How romantical!!

Other items on today’s to-do list include a stop at Food Lion - they’ve got Coke products on sale at 4 12-packs for $10 - such a deal! And I’m almost finished my last 12 pack, so it’s good timing. I’ve got laundry to do also. Yep, yet another exciting, jet-setting day at FairyChatEstates.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienated here.

snowbunny stay safe!

I think Jah and zellie should partner and open up a consultin’ firm. Speakin’ of which, rest assured that ain’t no way said ex-employer is gettin’ nuttin’ free from me. Matter of fact I’m thinkin’ of writing a letter to the president of their BOD demandin’ that she direct them to not call me about problems they are havin’ as I am no longer employed there. I have a feelin’ she does not know about the calls cause she seems smart enough to know better. Then again, I think all of 'em have terminal stooooooopid, so what do I know.

The chicken ‘n rice is done. I put it on when I arose this mornin’. Yes it’s been a while since I got up. I’m definitely on first shift schedule now. Anywho, it’s coolin’ down so’s I can put it in the fridge whilst I go churchin’. I can reheat it whilst steamin’ the veggies and bakin’ the rolls after I get home. Plus bloody Mary time must be had. I made a batch of cheese straws before I went to bed last night so folks may munch whilst sippin’ their bloody mary’s. I’m a good host.

Ok, off to purtify and see about gettin’ ol’ y’all know who to arise.

Later Y’all!

Morning. I need a little bit of breakfast, and then we’re off to Mass. First I’ve got to haul Mr. Lissar out of bed. This might require cattle prods.

We had a lovely evening with QD, Driving Husband, and Attacks Husband. They came over and wanted to be fed and to hang out. Yawn. Went to bed late.

Morning, all. Caffeinating and puttering this morning. I had to sleep in the front room again because Rusty was so nervous, but it calmed down nicely so I was able to get a sound night’s sleep. Although I woke up with a nasty sinus headache; I’m about 99.9% sure it’s caused by the weather, alas. My head does react sometimes to barometric changes. At least it’s not supposed to be as hot here today.

I wish we could send our rain to you, snowbunny – we got quite a bit last night and it’s supposed to rain off and on all day today. You might call my sister this afternoon and ask her to work on the weather for you; she’s apparently inherited some of your grandma’s talents in that regard. More than me, certainly! Good thoughts headed out your way for no wind and a good firefighting day!

It was nice enough first thing this morning for Papa Tigs to take the Idiots for their weekly swim. They once again were the only dogs at the beach, but when they got there a young couple and photographer were down there taking pretty pictures against the backdrop of the river with the sun coming up. Aww. The dogs politely sat and waited for them to finish their work, too, which is unusual since normally they head for the water like a rocket the instant their leashes are removed. But this time they were SUCH good boys! I’m very proud of them.

Hopefully it will be a nice quiet day here today. Everybody have a good day, now!

would you buy this? who comes up with product names, anyway? Miss Teen South Carolina?

Goooooooood mooooooorning everyone!

I’m up and caffienating. Today I need to go to the maul and return some shoes that I bought. They felt fairly good in the store, but I put them on to wear to work and I couldn’t even make it down the stairs without them pinching me. I don’t understand it. Sigh…I like those shoes too, dammit.

Swampy, I’ve been reading your posts about your ex-employer to Mr. Taters. He’s sitting here laughing. He liked your comment about “terminal stoooopid” and liked how you asked us to raise our hands if we thought you gave a shit.

Anyway, I hope they leave you alone or pay you lotso money if they’re going to keep bothering you. I’ve had two offices in my career that kept calling me long after I was gone. One office called me after I had been gone for TWO years. There aren’t enough roll eyes to convey how I felt about that. Of course, being a gov employee there are no consultancy fees. In most cases I helped out, but there were a few times when I told them they needed to learn to deal with the issue on their own and directed them to where they needed to get the information. I had one boss, though, after he heard about my former office calling me all the time and asking me to come over, tell me to tell them I could come over, but they’d have to pay me my current salary level for all the time I spent there or on the phone with them. That made them leave me alone!

I guess I’m becoming “famous”. I ran into the acting chief of my former division who had just returned from a conference in Texas. My name came up because of a couple of things that I do on a monthly or daily basis. Other MEDCENS are interested in these reports and how I prepare them and the “build” for obtaining the data. When he told me that, I was sort of flattered, but embarrassed at the same time. Apparently, all these people had to say were good things.

rosie, ugh! Chicken poop!! That’s just gross!

We went out to dinner last night with a childhood friend of mine and her husband. We tried out a new place. It was okaaaay, but we weren’t super impressed or anything. We’ve had better. I wonder if we’re becoming way too jaded when it comes to going to restaurants, because I feel like I’m becoming pickier and pickier. We haven’t really eaten at a restaurant that just “WOWED” us in a long time.

We had a great time, though and went back to our friends’ home and chatted. We played a fun board game too. They’re trying to talk us into going on a cruise with them in November 2008. Frankly, I don’t think it’ll happen just because of the expense, but we’ll see.

snow bunny, I’m still keeping you in my thoughts. I wish some of rain we’ve gotten here would blow your way.

I guess I’ll putter around for awhile. Hugs to everyone.

I am up caffienated, breakfasted and purtified.

Of to the grocery store to get some stuff for Roasted Vegatable Pasta for dinner. I finally went to see Harry Potter at the movies - I enjoyed it but…it wasn’t quite right. Also where was Draco - about 3 mins of screen time grrrrr

Laters!

Sewing break. Halfway done with the bottom hem. Next comes the zipper. Or the ties. Then the collar. Then I should be done.

Sewing machine is still sewing along, sorta. I’m pretty sure I’ll need a new one before I attempt daughter’s wedding dress.

Oh, yeah, **FCD ** talked to his mom last night. Apparently she and both of his brothers are experiencing the same neck/arm issues as my poor sweetie. So it is a genetic issue, which is why I heard him saying (rather sarcastically) *“Thanks, Mom!” * :stuck_out_tongue:

I suppose I should get back to work. Because a job well done is its own reward, right?

yeah, right…

I am finding it difficult to be motivated. I need to take a shower and clean up so I can head on out to the insanity that is the mall.

I don’t really feel like going, but I need to. I also need to buy a new hair dryer because I’m still using my daughter’s . Mine blew up on me the day I had to take her to the doctor.

It looks kind of gray and dreary outside, but it’s not raining at the moment. The weather is supposed to be nice tomorrow, Tuesday, and Wednesday. I’ll believe it when I see it.
