A Random MMP (My first MMP!)

Like that ever stops any of us!!! C’mon, we put the Mundane in MPSIMS!!

Captain Socks, I love your sig! I may have to print that out and hang it in my cubicle at work.

BBBobbio, I know full well I left an easy straight line out there - I may be out of kilter, but I still recognize potential smart-assery when I see it.

**welby ** - if I’d been more with it, you’d have gotten an email from me with a link to boat show info. You will get it eventually… if I remember…

Yes, I’m awake, and mostly rested. I crashed and slept about 6 hours before my bladder got all agitated and woke me. But I went back to bed and snoozed on and off as the cat allowed. I got up around 4. I still feel discombobulated, but rested.

**FCD ** is home and I need to figure out what we have to eat. But first, I need a shower.

Four more stoopit nights. It wouldn’t be half bad if I actually had something to do, but (no surprise) there’s very little assigned for my area. Others in there were busy all night. I was taking walks to stay awake.

Have I mentioned that I love my job?

Puppy! Widdle squirmy black and white fuzzy puppy, with puppy breath and puppy grunts! He is so adorable! I know my friend wants to keep him - I’ll bet she does. She did sell the little girl, but the longer this one stays the less likely she is to be able to let him go. I don’t blame her; he is a cutie!

Then I mailed off a book for paperbackswap.com. I have printed out the postcards and labels for the Booster Club meeting scheduled to make up for the one that was cancelled because of Libby’s memorial service. I just need to stick the labels on them and they will go to the post office tomorrow.

Last week I stopped at this outlet type store I rarely go in, and they had these mu-mu type housedresses for $1.40 each. I bought a couple and liked them so much I went back today to get some more, but theyn were all gone. The lady said they may be getting some more in tomorrow, so I will go back. I did get Mr. SCL a Tommy Bahama polo-type shirt for a whopping $7.

I have changed the catboxes so I am probably done being productive for the day.

Dotty, I am glad to hear that Her Royal Highness is doing so well!

It’s only 95 degrees today, which is better than the 100+ temps we had last week, but it is still too bloomin’ hot! I want fall to get here - fall brings hockey season!

Hey all! Once again, much too busy to post. Let me summup:

I am a smart person. I learn quickly, and usually don’t have to be shown something twice. That said, this new job is the hardest job I’ve ever had. It’s incredibly complicated, the term “multitasking” is a horrific understatement, and even if I could post to the boards from the office, I wouldn’t have time to. I mean it. They keep reminding me that on average, it takes six months to learn the job completely, and I was told today by a coworker that I’m ahead of schedule, so I suppose that’s something. I still don’t know if I’m going to even have the job past the end of the month, but I’m pretty confident so far. And even if they decide not to hire me after my temp period is over, my paychecks through then will cover all the debt that started piling up last month. So, life is good, if exhausting.

Now I have to go walk the dog and pay attention to him, because I heartlessly desert him for nine hours a day. Hopefully, sometime this week I’ll have an evening to sit down and actually read the MMP.

Yay1 Drae’s back! What kind of job is it? Does it involve world domination or at least sex toys?

You know, SCL, while the Dope rule has always been that if one mentions one’s cats, one is required to provide photographic evidence, in recent months the rule has been extended to puppies as well. So where’s the puppy photo, eh? Eh?

And are you going to “accidentally” forget to mail the Booster Club rescheduled meeting card to Smeagol? Cause I would if I were you. Just sayin’.

Hi Drae!! ::waves::

Oooh, I wanted to add to the mother rants (since **Sean **and Aunty Jen have started them already). I talked to Mom on Saturday, which is usually a good time because we really like talking to each other. But she’s convinced that the world is going to hell in a handbasket and that life is going to end up miserable and awful (think plagues and pestilence) for any of us still alive in 20 years or so. She’s said before that she kinda regrets having kids because that means I have to live in this awful world. Now while I realize that there are problems in this world, I certainly don’t regret being alive and I don’t think the future is going to be filled with evil horrors the likes of which the world has never known before (all of which are Pres. Bush’s fault apparently). I just don’t know what to say to her to convince her that it’s not that bad and it’s really not worse than when she was my age… when Nixon was in the White House fer cryin’ out loud. Things weren’t better back then, they aren’t that bad now, and they’re not going to be worse in the future. Bah!

Hi everyone! Talking of puppies (we were right?) I had a crappy day on Thursday last week which involved no sleep Thursday night and trying to track down someone who was flying in from Tripoli…anyways I was working late on Friday trying to catch up from spending the ENTIRE day on the phone trackign down our aforementioned lost soul when I hear click click click on the tile floor outside my office and this little happy black lab pup pokes his head round the corner of the door. You know when they are runnign on the spot trying to get to you but the floor is to slippery well that was him. He was all puppy breath and love and snuggles. Made my day.

One of our operators was trying to find homes for them - he had adopted a dog from the pound and then she had puppies. And they were going like hotcakes to good homes!

Now I want one.

Well, the doc’s office called back again. Told me hurry, hurry, he can see you after all.

I’m pleased to say, I’m going to live at least another day. My symptoms were due, not to a stroke, or MS, the two possibles my doc suggested, but rather, to my old friend, migraine headaches. I haven’t actually had a headache for years. It seems that most people stop having headaches around 40. That doesn’t mean they are gone, though. He said I had the classic signs of migraine syndrome. Lucky me.

I may be fat and old, but at least I’m a healthy fat, old broad.

We let Bert cook dinner. Actually, I don’t think Bert’s is owned by a guy named Bert, but I have no idea who cooks there, so I just say that Bert cooked dinner. We had baked chickie and smashed N.O.T. with gravy, and sallit and veggies. Before I head back to work (ick) I’ll have to have the obligatory ice cream. At least there’s that.

As we drove back, I saw where a new doctor’s office is going into some new buildings just down the road. I need to get a new doctor, so I’m going to see if they’re on my insurance list and try to get an appointment. I’m almost out of BP meds and since my old Dr retired, his former practice wants me to come in and see another doc before they’ll give me refills. On the same BP meds I’ve been taking for years. What a pain. If I have to go it, I may as well go to someone new and convenient, right?

While I’m rested, I’m pretty sure I still have a sleep deficit. I feel odd - almost off-balance. Nothing that getting back on a normal schedule won’t cure. At least I hope so.
Two hours to go. <sigh> Can someone write me a note to get me out of this shift??

Dear FCM’s boss:

FCM is unable to go to work the rest of the week because it gets lonely without her in the MMP. Also, we’re pretty sure she ought to be creating monsters in the basement.

For further information, feel free to contact us. Assuming you can find us.

The MMP

Excellent, gt! I’ll print it out in a pretty font to make even more of an impact!

The smoke’s gotten worse, and we’re getting some ash falling now too, but the fire isn’t so close that I have to do anything about it. I know they’re out their busting their butts to stop it, because they’ve set up a big-ass camp for all the out-of-town fire people just down the road from here. It’s fairly awful, but quite survivable. My eyes and throat aren’t entirely happy, though. Inside is better, though it still smells just a touch smoky. I’d love to open a window; aside from the smoke, it’s a lovely day!

I love Labs. I ended up having to wash as well as brush out a big yellow guy today. He loved everything but the dryer. He got lots of babytalk from me! And I can run the register now. Nothing like being left alone in the shop and having to run it to figure out. It’s not like it’s very hard, anyway.

My knee has decided to swell up again. If it keeps up, I guess I’ll have to go find a knee doc to give me another cortizone shot or something. This is really obnoxious. Tomorrow’s going to be buuuuusy, too. Arrrgh!

Such randomness today!
VBob - I was thinking “Puppet” for Cap’n Socks’ nickname, too
JuFoo - Duluth is not the first city I think of when I think of a quick get away - but what ever floats your boat.
picu - I’m glad you’ll be with us a while longer, but I can certainly relate to scary symptons. I’ve had scary digestive tract issues that turned out to be a few tiny stomach ulcers and ARD - could have been much much worse.
Welcome to all the new Mumpers - Please don’t forget the sacreficial offerings of chocolate to FCM (she needs them now more than ever, what with the weird hours she’s keeping) the goat is going to be awfully busy this week.
I had some randomness to add to the pile, but forgot it while I was catching up.
Oh - and whichever one of you said you’d post kitty pics “if we’re interested”… We are ALWAYS interested (that goes for puppy pics, too, btw)

Hi everyone! (generic greeting to one and all)

I’m calling the pizza man. He’s (or she’s) gonna bring me food.

no no no no no - it’s *Chocolate Love Offerings * - there’s no sacrifice involved because it’s all about love. Seriously.

But that makes me think that maybe I should stop and get some chocolate on my way in tonight. That may make the endless passage of time less intolerable. Ya think?

I’m still stuck at work (at 6:40 local time). :frowning: But KeithT made something last night that I put in the crock pot at noon today, and he’s home making green beans and corn bread now so when I get home dinner should be ready. His crockpot experiment is a cross between coq au vin and gumbo. It smelled really good yesterday so we’ll see how it turns out.

Since you asked for pictures…
Here’s Thor the hamster.
This cutie is Lily.
And this is Lily the cat watching Thor the hamster. And thinking, “Mmmmmm, dinner.”

MamaTigs, I can’t not send Smeagol a meeting notice because the slimey bitch is on the executive board. Damnit.

Sorry I don’t have puppy pictures, but I didn’t take the camera. I should have. I’m a bad MMPer.

We just got our water bill for last month, and it says we used no water. Interesting. We did use sewage, however. How did we flush without water? We used the sprinklers, which are on a different meter. I don’t understand…

Anything for you, FCM. Lightly-scented paper will also make a fine impression, I’m sure.

I have a headache. I’m pretty sure all this weather coming through is making it hurt. We’ve had about 4 storms move through here since 4:00 or so this morning. My personal favorite occurred this afternoon, when all of a sudden it was raining horizontally. And then it stopped and almost looked like it hadn’t rained. Maybe the water landed a few blocks over. Anyway, I’m trying really hard to relax so that the headache will get lost, but it’s not working yet.

Although looking at taxi’s pictures seems to have helped. Very cute.

Yay for a challenging job, Drae! You still need to check in here periodically, though, even if it’s not from work.

Sorry to hear about the sucky Ren Faire developments gotti and about the sick mainframe, of course.

Stay safe, palebunny.

Glad the health stuff is minor, picu!

Did you take pics, ems? I love cute little baby puppies. Same thing to you, SCL.

Sorry the moms appear to be difficult this week…hope they all come to their senses soon.

Welcome to everyone who’s new. (Just tell us about whatever, Auntie; how’s your cat doing?) And welcome back, Lemme. Long time, no see.

Good week for stream of consciousness, Cap’n.

Wow, Jah! I think there are several of us here who will tell you what you already know: not the best way to manage a data base. I’m a rank amateur and even I know that. Sounds like a good reason for you not to want to stay.

So did the phone repair person make it there by 4, LiLi?

Seems like BooFae was going on vacation or something…? But I thought it was a short one… Hope everything’s OK with her.

There was more, but I don’t remember what it was. Other than rigs made me giggle back there somewhere.

I’m watching How to Steal a Million, which is fun.

Back later.

GT

So I was worried because my car was spewing hot air trough the vents. Was it overheating? It’s not *that *hot outside. OMG, WHAT’S WRONG WITH MY CAR? I had turned the air knob to juuuust a tiny bit cold. In other words, I had the heater on. In summer. And it took me two days to figure that out. :smack: I are smart, really.

I noticed that the price of gas is down to $2.77 at Arco. My corner station, being right off the freeway, is still at $2.99. I remember the days of being outraged at $1.45/gallon. Teh world was ending!!!1! Oh noes! Sigh. And I never had a fun car while gas cheap, either.

Well, maybe you could accidentally drop Smeagol’s card so that it doesn’t quite go in the mailbox, SCL. You know, do it so that you can be telling the truth when you say, “Gosh, I don’t know what happened – I dropped it in the mail with the rest!” Or else “accidentally” write the wrong date on it.

Yeah, I’m evil that way.

I love it when people get creative with language. One of these guys just coined a new word: manifications. As in, the physical manifications that someone had been drinking. Isn’t that a nice word? I think I’m going to have to start working that into my everyday conversation.
