A Random MMP (My first MMP!)

Is it wrong that I find “manification” to be excitin’?

Evenin’ Y’all! Men’s night was wunnerful tonight. We had a good crowd. Lots of bad jokes and carryin’ on. Just fun with the guys. I needed that. I tried to talk ol’ y’all know who into havin’ a spend the night night but he did have some paperwork to get done for work, poor thing, so it didn’t happen. Tomorrow however… We’re havin’ sketties tomorrow. It’s homemade even. So what if’n I took it out of the freezer and it’s in the fridge thawin’ out. I still made it! So it counts as cookin’. Yes it does. So There! :stuck_out_tongue: Anywho, with a nice green sallit and some good garlic bread it’ll be good. There’s ice cream even for dessert. Well, the “appreciation” could be dessert I suppose. Let’s just call that an extra dessert.

Have fun at work Mooooom! I say a stop for some chawklit is called far.

Welcome to all newcomers. Do come back. You have to come back. It’s a rule. Once you post you are an official cool kid and must post. We don’t care what you post, but you must post.

Ok, gonna call it a night now. Time for da bear to go beddy bye.

Nite Y’all!

ETA: Glad everything’s ok picu, for the sake of the MMP and your male harem. How would they ever function without their Mistress? I’ll leave it up to you to explain what I’m talkin’ about when the inevitable cool kids pipe up with wantin’ to more about this.

I’ve got you beat, Jah. I can remember riding with the folks and passing a gas station where gas was 79¢ per gallon. They freaked but assured each other gas would never go over $1/gallon. . . .

I got my license during the 70’s gas shortage - I didn’t go very many places (that pleased the 'rents)

eta: if I can find it, I’ll post the cartoon on high gas prices I did for my cartooning class junior year of college

Hey all.

I’m going to Atlanta next weekend for Dragon*Con and I haven’t had any long car trips for quite a long time since I haven’t had a decent car for road trips for a very long time. Anyway, Tampa Bay to Atlanta is about 8 hours. We want to get there sometime Friday morning and we were thinking of driving about 2/3 or 3/4 of the way on Thursday and staying somewhere for most of the night and getting up early and driving the last couple hours Friday morning. Does anyone know of a good stopping point a couple hours outside of Atlanta (South) on I-75? I know Swampy is in Georgia. Would I be better off asking in a seperate thread?

I’m starting to freak out when I think about how much I have to do before I leave.

possibly - swampy could probably suggest some places - but you’d get more Jawja residents offering their insights if you start a thread on the subject.
Best way to avoid freaking out is to make a list (when are you going?) and revise it as you think of things. I’ve got my packing down to a half hour routine, but I still freak. It’s normal. Just make sure you leave enough kibble and water for the cat, and turn the iron off.

Good evening everyone!

Swampy, before I forget, my hubby sent you a funny via e-mail.

Welcome to the noobs. We are typically a very nice bunch of folks.

whiterabbit, I hope the winds remain calm and a little moisture comes your way.

It rained here off and on all day. Bleh. It seemed like fall.

Magic, I’m sorry for your loss. I didn’t see the end of last week’s MMP until today.

Well, going to work was most difficult today. I really, really, really wanted to stay home, dangit.

However, I dragged myself in there and promptly threw myself into my work. I had 250 e-mails waiting for me, along with several projects. Sigh…I can’t wait until vacation…next August.

picu, I’m glad your health problem turned out to not quite so serious.

Sean, I, for one, sympathize with you on the Mom thing. I love my mother, but she drives me crazy. I can only tolerate small doses of her. She lives only 10 or 15 miles from me.

I guess I’ll cruise the Dope for a bit and then watch some boob tube.

Socks, interesting OP. Very random.

Mork, good that you’re feeling better. Glad to hear you’re feeling giddy. Pass it along, please.

Those digs are NOT random. They’re carefully timed and well-placed. But what’s to love if I can’t get a rise out of you?! OK, OK, I’ll let it go! :stuck_out_tongue: (good morning, btw)

McUNE, scary stuff. Hopefully, the waters will continue to recede.
**
Dotty**, great to see you back. Sorry for the internet connection problems. Fingers crossed for Noor’s upcoming MRI. Good morning by the time you see this!
**
Antigen**, welcome to the MMP! You need a nick. Good luck with getting your mom to visit.
**
MBG**, after I read your post, I took a nap, so I hope you’re feeling better now.
**
Jahdra**, I saw all the good things that happened to you in the last MMP. Could you send some of that good luck this way please? You can keep the boring stuff though. . . .especially the broken database.

More driveby. Scottish Darling and I are in NYC right now - the weather is crappy, and I can’t relax 100% on this trip because I am stressing out about moving and stuff, but we’re still having fun. A good friend from back home just happened to be in NYC this week - bizarre coincidence - it was so nice meeting her and catching up. Weds we’re heading up to Boston. I was looking forward to catching swampy’s MMP - hope I see it next week!! And I miss all of you, of course - I won’t be able to post regularly for another week or so at least. Maybe not even until September. :frowning: Hugs and kisses to all!

Home. tired. talk tomorrow.

Ultra-drive-by. Hi. Bye. Good night, Roo!

Swampy, shhhhhhh. Hubby might hear. Oh, wait, he was one of them, wasn’t he.

I’m afraid my male harem has fallen to only Hubby.
The tall hairy one is now being cared for by his parents, in the last stages of AIDS/ARC. It makes me cry to think about it. He doesn’t know me anymore. :frowning:

The skinny bald one is in drug rehab, but he’s doing well. He’ll be back in the fold before long.

picu sorry to hear about your friend. I’ll keep him in my thoughts and prayers.

Taters I’ll check out the email when I get home from work today.

Wiles, if’n you’re lookin’ to stay a couple hours away from Etlanner on I75, I suggest the Perry/Warner Robins area, though you could mosey on up as far as Macon. I am assuming you will be takin’ I475 around Macon, which is what most folks do. There’s places to stay along I475. Don’t know what kind of accomodations you prefer but most of the hotels/motels around Perry/Warner Robins/Macon are of the Comfort Inn type. Which means clean but not fancy. Hope that helps.

Everyone else, yay, boo, awww, etc as appropriate. Caffienatin’ up here. My body still ain’t quite understandin’ why it needs to be up so early but it’s adjustin’. I look at it this way, I’m goin’ to work durin’ a cooler part of the day and gettin’ off at the time the heat is buildin’ up for the hottest part of the day, so there is that. Still it’s dark when I leave for work and daylight when I get off which is the opposite of how it is on second shift.

Ok, everybody have a good day now.

Nitey Nite Mooooom!

Later Y’all!

Up. Not even caffeinating yet.

Sorry about your friend, picu. Good thoughts and prayers headed out toward him, his friends and family.

Gotta get ready for work…

GT

Good morning, campers! Nights still suck, but I’m not as exhausted this morning. In fact, I was more starving (I only took a yogurt and a cucumber for “lunch”) so I just finished some cheese on toast and a glass of milk. And I just finished catching up on this thread. So now I’ll mosey back to the dim comfort of my bed. It’s all overcast and with the curtains drawn, it’s pretty dark, so it makes for good sleeping. Which is what I need.

Three more nights to go. At least I get paid a night differential. It’s not a huge amount, but it’s something, I guess. And on that note, I’m heading for snoozy land. Be good. Do your chores. Put your dirty dishes in the dishwasher, and quit teasing the cat! Nighty-night!

Wish I Had A Camera Department: On the way home from work yesterday, I saw a AAA truck broken down on the side of the road. I wonder who they call?

This morning, walking from the commisary with my brekkie, there was a guy riding an industrial sized self propelled lawnmower by standing on the deck, butt forward. :dubious: :smack: All I could think was “Don’t fall off, buddy. It’s too early in the morning to deal with a traumatic amuptation…”

I’m filled with grrrrrrrrrr. Last night, I took a call for an unresponsive old geezer at the county nursing home. ‘Unresponsive’ usually means we’re going to do CPR. When I got there, the old duffer was wide awake and alert; he had hit his head and was momentarily knocked silly(er), and the nurse panicked. Took him to the hospital in Suffolk anyway, because the staff physician ordered it. I lost 2 hours of valuable ugly sleep on that one…

{{{{Picu}}}} When things are not so sad, I’ll submit a membership <snerk> application for your harem.

Morning everybody! I’m going into work for a bit, then I’m off for the rest of the day. I need to clean and do laundry. Might as well, it’s going to be 101 today.

BBBobbio, I’m filling the Superman role, I just need an EMT to help me. And maybe Qadgop and gabriela as well.
SCL, we have our Booster club meeting tonight. And the team is back in town practicing. And I saw a kid wearing a Canes jersey yesterday. Happy! Happy! Joy! Joy!

EVERYBODY KEEP QUIET! Mmmmmooooooommmmmmm! IS TRYING TO SLEEP!!!

picu, sorry aboyt your harem. :frowning:

Mama Tigs, here’s a puppy picture for today.

Drive-by here, as well. Hello. I’m moved into the new place but I think my router crapped out on me (stupid Linksys) so I still don’t have much of an internet at home. I also can’t quite figure out how to get the HD channels on my TV. And I still have a lot of wiring to do to get my cable and ethernet stuff where I want it.

Right now I’m at the office, though. And I want to go back to bed!

Morning, everyone.

((((picu)))) (plus prayers headed out)

Need tea before I think about my long list of Things to Do Today.
Oh. I found out yesterday. I was right. It’s a boy. Nathaniel Elijah it is, then. Right, kidlet? Is it bad to say things to your kid when it’s in utero, like, “Don’t listen to Daddy. He’s not funny. His jokes suck.”?

Wile if it’s only about eight hours, why not drive all the way into Atlanta, and then get a room there. I’ll help the next day - no extra rushing around in the morning to pack, and you won’t have to hang around waiting to check in at the hotel where you’ll be staying for the Con.

Crap. Missed the edit window.

Please substitute “It’ll” for “I’ll” at the beginning of the second sentrence. (I’m not going to be in Atlanta.)

Morning, Mumpers!

Not much of note happening here. Just checking in.
