A riddle

I’m the kind of guy who likes to be home for the holidays. But not my Uncle Roy. He wants to spend every holiday on the road, often in fairly obscure spots. Well, not that obscure sometimes. Like many people, he spent New Year’s Day (recovering from a night of partying) with friends in New York City. Then on Valentine’s Day, he visited his wife’s family at their lovely home in Annapolis Maryland. He tells me St. Patricks Day will be celebrated in Albany, Georgia (not a city overly known for partying, Earth Day in someplace called Allentown, Kentucky —and then he’ll fly to Belgium for Memorial Day.

I asked him what or who he planned to visit in Allentown (not PA) and Albany (not NY), and he just smiled at me in his usual cryptic way.

So my question is, where will Uncle Roy spend Independence Day?

My mistake.

Uncle Roy just phoned to say he will be in Allensville, Kentucky on Earth Day, not Allentown. Oops. My apologies to all in the Bluegrass State.

Well, not knowing your Uncle Roy (or his travel agent), I couldn’t say for certain, but I’ll guess: Hammond, Louisiana?

You got it, Second Guest. My Uncle will meet you there.

Roy couldn’t find anywhere to go for Easter. Guess he’ll have to stay home then.

So how was the answer to this riddle figured out?

I am not good with riddles like this, but they seem fun

Roy could go to Ashland, Kentucky, for Easter (but only this year).

Here’s a hint, misstee:

It’s all about numbers.

And he’ll be in Whittier, California, on Labor Day.

I have no idea at all what his plans are for October. Maybe Staten Island for Halloween? Brooklyn on Thanksgiving?

Are you sure about that? I don’t think he’ll be going to Ashland anytime soon.

A quick query:

Is this something to do with matching dates with ZIP codes?

qts: Yep.

Scarlett67: The info on this page led me to believe it was doable. On further Googling, however, I find that it is a typo. Had poor old Roy turned up at the Boyd Co. Public Library this Easter he’d have discovered he was three years too late.

Uncle Roy can just go to hell for all I’m concerned.

Yabbut, he’ll probably wait until two years from this June 6.
