A Routine MMP

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 51 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 74 and sunny. This is Fall weather for these parts. I have a doc appointment at ten-thirty a.m. I wanted it for first thing, but this was what I got. Just a routine make sure I am still alive thing. No vampire today. That’ll be next month. Also tonight is men’s night over to the church house. Thus steaks are marinatin’ and beer is chillin’. We will go over early to do setup as is our wont. RDOS inactivities will between the doc appointment and then.

I am a creature of routine. As a RDOS, I suppose I don’t have to be but I like my routines. For instance, postin’ here whilst I begin to caffeinate is pretty much the first thing I do every mornin’. I suspect many of us have our routines we feel we must follow. I am displeased when a routine is disrupted. I feel so inconvenienced, like TVCTPMO is out to get me. Yet the world somehow manages to keep on turnin.

Here’s the topic. Feel free to pontificate or hijack. It’s the MMP! Willy-nilly reigns!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I must purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed in the doc’s office. Do not fear. I will wear a pair of my best drawers.

Happy Moanday Y’all!

First?

Hard to believe I’m the first one to respond here!

Second!

Good morning everyone.

I like a morning routine when I can get one. I hit the throne room first, tend to biology, take my morning meds, brush my toofies. Then it’s slippers and robe and head to the kitchen. Ziva gets her morning snacks, then I prepare my morning Diet Coke and decide what breakfast will be. Then I bring my drink and food to my desk and do my morning computer routine, which progresses from email to comics to the MMP. If I’m lucky, I can get Not Always Right read before FCD wakes.

Far too often, my routine is disturbed, dammit. But so far so good today. And the rest of today will include emptying the dishwasher and I don’t know what else. I’ll probably feed Otis because FCD hasn’t been feeling well and I want him to sleep as much as he can.

And so my day begins. Happy Moanday!!

Our younger daughter overslept this morning and wound up with about ten minutes to get dressed, eat, and rush out the door.

My wife and I handled it. We’re parents, shit happens, we deal. I suspect our daughter was more upset about the frantic recovery than we were.

I suppose the Canadians among us will post about routine poutine.

I decided this morning was a good time to sort thru the jeans in the “small” side of my closet. Some I didn’t even bother trying because they’re my target jeans - they’ll fit when I hit my goal weight. The others had to be pulled on because, as usual, you can’t trust the size tags in women’s jeans.
I added 3 or 4 pairs to my rotation, which is nice. I also noticed that the ones marked “Made in China” tended smaller. I removed one pair, because even if they’d fit, I decided I didn’t want them.

Now, to get FCD to go thru his shirts. He’s shed over 40#, so the 2XL shirts are waaaaay too big. I hate that they’ll have to go - some are really attractive and some have hardly been worn. Someone at the thrift store will get lucky.

I want to go to DSW and Kohl’s and see if they have any slip-in Skechers in my size. I have one pair and I love them, but I’m leery of buying any online. So I’ll head out in a bit when the stores open. Till then, I have time to empty the dishwasher.

FCD has left for the marina - he’s modified 2 parts that the yard crew need to finish the installation of the fuel fill lines. So he’s going to deliver them, then talk to the manager about some other work we want done. Otis is outside, giving me a break.

I’m a little concerned that we’re teaching him bad habits. He gets a treat if he behaves and sits on command. But he’s taken to jumping on me, then sitting, expecting a treat - I fear we’re reinforcing bad behavior. Needless to say, we’ll talk to Trish about that on Saturday.

On the good news side - we exceeded our energy target with our power company, so we earned a $225 check! And FCD mocks me for turning off lights all the time!! That’ll show him! :stuck_out_tongue:

OK, time to head to the kitchen.

Morning all. Slept until 7am and have a large load of Blue Jeans in the washer this morning, may be followed by assorted towels and that should trake care of my laundry needs up to Thanksgiving. It’s 47F outside and I have closed all the house windows I had left open last week because it has cooled the house down just fine and I don’t want to turn on the heater yet. Due to reach 72F today and no rain, so should warm things up.

I am also a creature of routine, usually the first thing I do in the morning is jump on my computer, check my e-mail, read Not Always Right and then come here to catch up. Even in terms of eating my usual weekly meals are the same, I might switch days now and then but the consumption is the usual suspects. Monday and Friday are stop at Kroger days, mostly because I pick up Apples on Monday and Bananas on Friday (why, I don’t know, but that’s my routine), and I try to do all my eating out on Sunday’s and Monday’s.

Today will be a break from routine, I need to go get my new car so will Uber from here to the dealership and hopefully drive home in my Hyundai Palisade. Pictures will hopefully be forthcoming.

Knots, I have never eaten poutine in my life, but it is something I would like to try one of these days.

FCM, I have a closet full of XL and 2XL Polo shirts and am moving down to Large so need to do some cleanout work myself. Jeans seem to be holding steady at 40", but have a couple pairs of 38" and may make a gradual transition if my weight holds. Probably need to look for 1-2 dress shirts; I doubt I have an 18 1/2" neck anymore.

And I have a Sketchers store just down the road from me, I’m very happy with my slip-ons from them.

And everyone have a good week!

And from Sunday night:

JtC, so far the dealership has been above-board and the guy told me Friday that they would have the car ready at noon today…so we’ll see.

Pavo, hope wife is feeling OK today, falls are never fun, less so when you reach a certain age (what that age is, I ain’t saying…)

red, it’s 45F in your old habitat and won’t get much above 70F in the next week, so you are definitely in warmer climes now.

Knots, thanks for the tip, I think I have an old hair dryer around here somewhere…

And that should catch me up.

Mornin’ everyone.

It’s 49°F and mostlly cloud the moment. We might have a couple of sunbreaks later this morning, but, for the most part, it’ll remain cloudy all day, and the daytime high will be around 60°F.

As for routine, I definitely have a routine that revolves around the pups. If I’m up well before 5:00 a.m. they receive a small Bocce Bakery treat, but between five and five-thirty, they receive breakfast. I grab my coffee, eat my multi-vitamin gummies, and then head to the computer to read my email, the news, the comics, and then head here. After I’m done posting here, I peruse real estate or look up stuff that interests me. For instance, I’ve been looking up e-bikes, their specs and whether they can be serviced at local bike shops.

My son’s flight from Denver was delayed by just under two hours because the flight leaving from Seattle to Denver was delayed. So, we didn’t return from the airport until after 11:30 last night. He’s upstairs sleeping, and the dogs have probably gone back up there to cuddle with him; they love their boy.

Pavo, I hope your wife is feeling better today.

VanGo, I hope your rib is doing better, too.

I’m not sure when my son will return home today, but I’m sure he probably wants to get there. If he leaves early enough, I’ll take advantage of the break in the weather and get that lawn taken care. I know I keep saying I’m going to do it, but I just can’t seem to get to it. It’s not completely overgrown, but it is a bit shaggy looking.

Other than that, I don’t have any plans for today. Maybe catch up on some trash TV, if the episodes I want to watch are available through my HBO subscription.

Alrighty, I need some more coffee, and then I should get on with the day. Please take care of yourselves.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 14c/57f with no predicted change, and a chance of showers. Weather app says “This rain is fucking brought to you by the letters B and S, and the fucking number of the beast.”

My week has a routine (two days working at home, three days on campus, two days of weekend) and I pretty much base my life around it. Certain things happen on certain days for certain reasons, and I feel quite discombobulated if I have to vary my routine. This week feels messy as I need to go to campus on Tuesday so I am working at home today, campus tomorrow, home on Wednesday, then campus Thursday and Friday. I usually cook on Tuesday after I log off at home so that I’ve made breakfast and lunch, and chopped fruit for my campus days. This week I will not be doing that tomorrow and I already feel out of sorts about it.

Other than that, my life revolves around the needs of the cats. When I get up, I work from one location to the next: Muffin’s litter tray gets cleaned, her water bowl is refreshed, her biscuits are topped up. Then I move on to the water bowl on the landing, the landing’s biscuit bowl, and the litter trays in the bathroom and shower room. Downstairs to draw the living room curtains, refresh the water bowl in that room and check the biscuits, the final location is the hallway litter tray, and the cats’ food bowls and one last bowl of biscuits. Once everyone else has been fed and watered, I get my first cuppa of the day!

I did get some sad news today, my friend sent a text to let me know that their pet ferret has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Heddy was pretty old for a ferret and wasn’t in the best of health so I am not surprised, but still saddened at his passing. He’s been buried alongside his siblings.

I gave up on Sketchers for work shoes a few years back. They changed the support in them to the point that they were miserable on my back and knees to wear all day. However, I still have a couple of pair of old school Sketchers slip ons that are suitable for office / casual wear that are comfortable.

It’s only supposed to get to the mid eighties today. It was a cool 62F when I took Nelson out this morning. I should have pulled on a sweatshirt.

I hope that your wife isn’t too sore today, pavo.

I’m sorry about your friend’s ferret, BooFae.

I’m beginning to get into a routine now that the move is over. Unless I have an appointment or something, most days begin with a bio break (where I also check email and such, but y’all probably didn’t need to know that), taking Nelson out, starting the coffee while pulling on compression stockings and taking meds, fixing breakfast and eating while internettin’. After that, I do KP, sweep the casa, do any other housework that needs done and RDOS. Usually on Friday-Sunday, I do any laundry that needs done, Thursday, Sis and I have our day out that includes grocery shopping. Any other errands tend to be postponed until afternoons.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

My morning routine was briefly disrupted, as I woke up 10 minutes before my alarm, but thought I had slept 50min past it. So I was ultra ready for work. Volume was light today, but so was staffing, so TPTB were moving us around like pawns in a chess game played by meth-ed up squirrels.
Driver: “How’s it going, dogbutler?”
Me: “Good, I haven’t bitten anyone yet.”
Driver: “It’s 8:30a.m. on a Monday.”
Even with cleaning up the last minute stuff the ninja left around, I was out before 9. I got gas(1.7 gallons), and did my Aldi run, got BS chicken boobs, meatballs and tortellini for Wednesday’s tortellini and meatballs, everything bagels, andtheyalsohadchocolateecoveredespressobeanssoiboughtapack.

I enjoy a good rutnudge, nudge, wink, wink, but I roll with change. As opposed to Spot and roomie who pretty much meltdown when the routine is disrupted.

Curds? No whey!

We spend an hour and a half at the gym every morning. We do a fifteen minute stretch and then half an hour on the weight machines. We alternate upper and lower workouts. We do half an hour of cardio and then a fifteen minute cool down on the rowing machines.

We do yard work on Sunday morning

That is about all of the routine for us. The rest of the time is unstructured but busy

I’m usually up around 0700, although it seems harder with the decreasing daylight. I usually fuss around on the innertoobs and then get breakfast started around 0745. It wakes the wife up and we’re usually eating around 0830 or so. Today was fried egg sandwiches.

Both elevators are down while they work on them. One was out all weekend. We’ll postpone some errands until they’re up and running.

Biannual window cleaning starts this week. Or is supposed to. I wouldn’t think it’s a good idea to be dangling off the roof of a building in 30mph wind.

i am rather routine oriented. easier to know if something is “not quite right” that way. lager is very set in routine, koritza rolls and goes with the flow. i did throw things into a tizzy by getting up a half hour early this morning. we have visitors at work and i wanted to be sure i was at the ready. it all worked well, they were about 10ish minutes early and i got back to my usual morning work routine.

my new 5 minute break thing is working well. things are a bit tidier, and it is amusing the cats.

Hi folks - A bit before noon as I start my brief drivel.

Hope @Paintcharge’s rib is starting to feel better. Ditto for @fachverwirrt’s wife.

Sent GF home about an hour ago. She started her day today with some bad news too. She & hubby have had the same housekeeper for decades; the woman and her family is nearly part of their family. Housekeeper texted GF overnight that housekeeper’s 20-something son was killed in a single-vehicle multiple-rollover crash on the freeway. No seatbelt and out he went. It was the wee hours and he was presumably driving home from his overnight job and fell asleep. Crap. Poor kid and poor Mom. Poor GF; she’s pretty upset too. She’s known the dead man since he was a kidlet.

Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, we had a great visit.

My routine?
Wake up pre-dawn to dawn-ish, caffinate & internet for longer than I should, eventually shevel & go out for breakfast / lunch depending on how long “eventually” turned out to be, piss away the remains of the day in fine RDOS fashion, go out for dinner, internet or read, then sleep. Lather rinse repeat.

From the last day-ish …

You’re right to be pissed. That’s one of my pet peeves. It happens a lot these days. I’ve taken to telling the server I’ll be ordering in courses. First a drink, then when that’s half gone, I order my salad or app. Then when that’s almost gone, I order the main course. Sure, that builds in some wasted time, but I’d rather have that than an entree getting cold while I’m still working on the salad or app.

I suspect the computers are scoring the kitchen on how fast the ordered food gets out, so unless the server inserts a delay, they’re rushing to feed you. Ordering in stages gives me control of the delays since I don’t really trust the servers to do so reliably.

Oh yeah … and Hooray for shiny new wheels!

Ouch! How’re you doing now, besides grouchy and irritable like usual?

We try to keep our sleeping schedule consistent, because we both do better when rested. So that means getting to bed early enough, even on the weekends. That’s our main routine.

After weeks of dry weather, today we got the first drizzle of the week. Which will be followed by more drizzle, every day this week. Weird weather.

Tonight’s festivities include reviewing the offer from the furniture shop, dinner, and watching something dumb on tv. Not very exciting.

how horrible! i can’t imagine.

My routine: bathroom duties, then downstairs to make a big mug o’ tea with milk and sugar, which I sip while reading the local paper online and perusing the Dope and my selected list of daily comics. Those are FBOFW, Zits, Baby Blues, Pearls Before Swine, The Far Side, and Calvin and Hobbes, if anyone’s interested. Huh, I note that three of those are reruns of comics from the 80s.

Then it’s on to making breakfast followed by kitchen cleanup. Lastly, watering potted garden plants if they need it.
