(Old) A Routine MMP

Obviously it was your good thoughts from Jawja that carried the day for us, thank you. As they say, not a pretty game but we’ll take it. Hopefully will keep us bowl eligible.

I went to my nearest neighborhood watering hole to watch it since I don’t own a tv. First time I’ve ever got to a bar before it opened-I musta looked like a drunk sitting in my car waiting for it to open. I was the only patron there for the first half hour or so. Me, the cook and the bartender. Finally some guy wandered in to play Keno but he sat way at the other end of the bar and just mumbled about his numbers. I was the life of the party: three Diet Cokes with :lime:.

Fought the traffic to get home-the bar was half way to the stadium, meaning 6 blocks closer to it than I am but on the main drag away from the stadium so getting out of the lot into the stream of cars inching along was tedious. It’s been so chilly, misting rain and gloomy here for two days I’m thinking of using my Keurig to make myself a spiced rum hot toddy to warm my bones and fight off consumption. >Boo wanders off to invent an automated hot rum for herself<. Have no fears, I only have one nip of rum in the house so drunken mayhem is unlikely.

That’s a major malfunction. Give me the name of a nearby liquor store that delivers and I’ll fix you up right.

Yay!

How is she getting along? Has she reconciled with her family?

That’s absolutely adorbs!

Towels are done and floors are mopped. It’s rained on and off all day. Still waiting on Brown (they did warn me that it could be as late as 2100). Now for more chillage.

And a good Saturday (checks clock) late afternoon to all. Left for the soccer fields about 7:30am and except for a few minutes at home around 1pm, was out and more or less active until after 4pm. Ended up coaching two games (we lost both), refereeing as an assistant ref on three games, and actually feel pretty good right now (I expect the aches will settle in later). Last day of the ‘regular’ season, we have a tournament next weekend and that will take care of my soccer duties for the Fall season. Temperatures were in the 60’s/70’s F so a pretty comfortable day outside. Have a game to ref at 8:30am tomorrow, but shouldn’t be any problems (famous last referee words).

And got a whole lotta catching up to do, so best get started with it.

Sticky Buns, sorry for the tooth problems, I probably should be taking care of my own teeth better, haven’t had a cavity in a number of years so I’m probably being overconfident and will pay for it someday… And I do not Karaoke, but look forward to the Book of Faces debut (which I will watch eventually).

FCM, happy de-masting. As for gas, I rely on the discounts at Kroger, which is only 2-3 miles away and I can save over $1.00/gallon, but I admit that is a happy circumstance and agree with you about people drive a long ways to save what amounts to nothing…

boo fae, your health reports sounds like mine yesterday, hopefully like me your over it in a day. Looks like it hasn’t slowed you down much…

Taters, hope foraging occurs next week.

I don’t get Social Security, but my Government pension usually increases by the same amount, so hopefully a little more in the bank for 2026.

Coppertone, enjoy the church shenanigans.

BBBoo, wasn’t here to think on it, but looks like it wasn’t necessary for the Nebraskans.

Oopsie, a tear for October; too many melancholy memories. And enjoy your time with family. And great news for Wife BFF.

Cookie, can they transfer the prescription? Surprised the doc didn’t know that. Best wishes to wife-unit.

Nut, sounds like your green thumb is working well.

Shoe, what a lovely gesture by an anonymous customer! And is does look like a dragon/cat hybrid…

Pilot, hope something can be worked out for the reunion trip.

swampy, one more week of soccer and I can start planning Saturday’s like yours…

And that more or less catches me up, so off to do some dinner prep (i.e., nuke in the mocrowave) and then consume the resultant calories. Take care all.

Last year my SS went up, but the price of Medicare went up more, so my take home benefit went down a smidgen. Of course the cost of everything went up more. Can’t win for losing.

We may all see that for 2026 again.

As to gas prices:

from

It’s Sunday morning here. It’s getting colder, 10°C (50 Murkkin) with a low tonight of 2°C (35 Murkkin).

SenGirl is finally over her being huffy. She’s a good girl, but sometimes adolescents are adolescents.

SenWife is in Taiwan for work for 10 days so I’m holding down the fort. Lots of things to do running a household with the teenagers. We go through milk by the cow-full. SenBoy grows overnight.

Kids! Took my GF’s 30yo son a month to calm down over the discovery his Mom had a BF.

Hope she stays calmed down.

Good luck until wife returns.

My cousin is finally talking to his father after getting all worked up because my uncle got remarried “too quickly” after his first wife died.

SenBoy is really into futsal and practicing all he can. He had me out there kicking the ball to him and being a tackle dummy of sorts.

Just found out I’m not getting my food stamps next month, meaning I won’t be able to afford to eat. Damn.

Every food stamp recipient in the country will be in that boat. Whole lotta hunger goin’ on.

You mean deaths.

Back when I worked for a living, I would drive by several gas stations to get to my job. One the day I was going to get gas, I would always pay attention to prices so I’d know where to stop on the way home. Every so often the cheapest place would raise their price while I was at work which would just tick me tf off. But not enough to not fill up, I was down to a quarter tank and I get all twitchy and shit when I go under that.

We can kinda do the same thing here. We aren’t driving as much anymore so can plan to fill up when we are going to be going by the cheap places anyhow.

We should all be wishing that’s all that happens in 2026.

What do you do if there is still frost on the ground? I haven’t been out in it yet, but it looks rather slippery. Do you let it melt off before getting out on it or am I just a weenie?

Agreed. Boo, have you tried Capt Morgan’s spiced rum yet? It works very well with coffee

That is so awesome, what a great guy and how cute is that!

We were out and about today and I sure did notice that I hadn’t remembered this was jacket season again.

We only spent six months doing house repairs and it was not a fun experience. Yours sounds even less fun than ours.

Sighs with you.

So today we went to Kentucky (that sounds like a long drive but you gotta remember that WV is a very small state) to look at the leaves. OMG, I had NO idea how much I was missing before my cataract surgery. The colors were amazing, bold splashes of red on yellow and orange with some evergreens and kudzu for contrast.

We had lunch at a diner and weren’t impressed. They had such things as pumpkin spice won-ton’s and pumpkin caramel quesadillas which went untasted. The waitress was nice and the decor was xian as was the over loud music. The pumpkin spice room freshener didn’t cling to our clothing.

After lunch we stopped and bought a couple of helium balloons with long ribbons. When we got home, I tied feathers to the ribbons and let the balloons hold the feathers just over the fuzzbutts heads. I wasted money buying two, I should have known that they would both play with the same one. Cats are worn out and the balloons are starting to fall, hopefully they will have enough helium to still be toys in the morning. I’ll probably lock them in a closet tonight, I don’t want the idiots to get blocked by swallowing too much ribbon.

Agreed. But I stopped short of politics.

One of my FB friends posted about adding something like ramen cups, instant mac & cheese, individual cereal boxes, etc along with the candy for ToTers because of this. Give the kids a treat, but also a meal.

I tend to stick with a couple of national stations. I’ve been burnt with no name gas to the tune of having to have my tank drained and fuel injectors cleaned ($700) because I stopped at a station that not only had water in the gas, but diesel as well.

Well, Brown still isn’t here. It’s also back on the on cycle of rain. With any luck, I’ll take Nelson out between showers.

I was thinking about inflation but you are right. Everything is interconnected now.

At the moment my nip is Bacardi’s spiced, but at least it’s dark Bacardi. Good to know about it being good in coffee though. Tonight I’m doing rum in hot apple cider~seemed appropriate after two gray, damp, gloomy fall days.

May everyone sleep well and toasty tonight and have a day with sunshine on splendid fall colors tomorrow.

Almost 10pm and the day is beginning to catch up with me, so will head off to bed soon after this message. I think instead of going out to dinner tomorrow, since I have a game to referee at 12:30pm (I was wrong on the 8:30am game) I’ll make it a dine-out breakfast instead. Flexible I am…Sunny Street Cafe is my likely stop.

Of course, that’s if we play, there is rain expected around noontime here tomorrow, so it’s definitely a ‘we’ll see’ for playing.

Pilot, I know the feeling, but at least my budget will hold steady.

Coppertone, don’t know what to say except damn…I hope it is not as bad as you think. There may be millions in your position soon.

JtC, no frost yet (hasn’t gotten below 40F) but sometimes the dew is so thick in the morning that I worry about slipping. Glad you have a nice side trip and found a way to entertain you feline masters.

And it’s after 10pm so bedtime beckons, catch y’all tomorrow.

I took a short nap. I watched the Wolfpack blow it. Canes also lost. But the spuicy black bean and garlic stirfry was good, as was the Vieux Carré.

For now

I :black_heart: it!

I bought a bunch of it. I haven’t named the deer or the nutcracker yet.

:canada:

Oy.

So there was a Mich U vs. Mich State fooootbal game, and I had no idea years ago that when I was in my mid 40s that college football would impact my work life so hard.

Jeeeeeebus we were slammed at the get-go, and then when the game settled in …. crickets.

Both my parents want me outta this job, and my cat wants so hard outta this house, until he realizes it’s cold & damp, so he just howls at me for gooshy-fud.

Everyone yellin’ at me!

I have some yummies in the oven. Work open → close tomorrow.

Happy Standard Time! At least for Europe. North America’s got another week of saving daylight.

We are in autumn - it’s cold and wet, with an expected high of 9°C/48°F. In about an hour we’ll go for a walk to get the blood moving. Might stop at Starbucks for something warm before coming back home to make meatloaf with mashed potatoes and carrots. Maybe I’ll do something with the lemons I bought last week.

:smiling_cat_with_heart_eyes: There’s hope for humanity.
