(Old) A Routine MMP

You had me for a for a minute. I should have read the second sentence before running off to check.

No daylight saving time here in Asia so it affects what time I can call people in the States.

It’s been raining all day and miserable. I’m taking my son shopping, his third favorite hobby after sailing and futsal. Close call as to what is more expensive,

Things are so weird everywhere. I’m having a hard time with it today. The house is a complete disaster right now and I hate that, too. But, given that I’m always awake so early and everyone else is sleeping odd hours, it’s difficult to straighten things up. So in the meantime I sit with a poodle on my lap.

Oh, and having switched to my own insurance, it appears that my copay for seeing my therapist is $90-$105 per visit! I’m hoping she will adjust this for me.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. The usual morning cleaning and afternoon sloth and pro handegg. I have the curtains open, so Spot is watching his shows in the sun room. It’s currently 41 degrees Ferret Height(5.0 Centipedes) and dark.

ENJOY YOUR YUMMIES! OR ELSE!

Sounds like an appropriate compromise.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 58 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 78 and cloudy with a chance of rain this evenin’. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization in which I have verger duty. After church and Sunday skool, other verger, baby Priest and I will herd acolytes through a practice for next Sunday’s big All Saints day processional and recessional in which many of them will be involved. I guess this makes up for the past two days of RDOS sloth. The rest of the day will involve RDOS inactivities that I am sure I will need. Any need to feed today will be via forage.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Yeah, when I’m between half and quarter, I keep it in the back of my mind to check prices as I’m erranding. And like you, I don’t drive very much, so even half a tank lasts a long time. FCD, on the other hand, fills a lot more, especially when he’s working on the boat - constantly stopping to run to the hardware store for something. Anyway, it seems the new Sheetz that I pass on the way to the new Aldi has had the best price in the area so far.

When we were loading up the car to go to dog training, FCD had one hoodie in the back seat where the dog goes, and another hoodie and sweatshirt on the passenger seat. I don’t think it was so much prepared as forgetful!

Well, except for us - we lurves ya and hugs ya virtually!

We goofed big time last night. I forgot to check the pellet situation and the stove ran out - dammit! At least the oil tank is 3/4 full, so we didn’t freeze - 44 Ferrets this morning out there. We also missed that the dog’s water fountain ran dry (it’s different from the much smaller critter fountain.) So FCD needs to add “check water” to his evening routine. That also explains why Ziva’s water bowl in the bedroom was licked dry.

I joined the thing at Walmart where you can get free delivery if you order over $35 of stuff - $1 introductory, then $98 annually. I’m pretty sure I’ll cancel before the annual fee kicks in, but it was nice to have the toothpaste and 8-hour generic tylenol and can’t remember what else I ordered to show up on the doorstep. But I don’t think I buy enough there to justify $8/month. Certainly not groceries, and we don’t use up deodorant and shampoo all that fast. So there’s a reminder on my calendar to cancel next month. Meanwhile, we’ll see if I use it or not.

I was nice this morning (dammit) - FCD needed sleep so I tended to the morning feeding. And I’ve figured out that when Otis jumps up on me when I’m in my chair, he wants out. We need to redirect this to a bark. At least he’s not trying to chew on me - he just wants out!

Time to figure out what needs doing before the grandspawn arrive around noon. And work out the pot roast timing - that will depend on Daughter’s ETA. We’ll see how the day goes.

Happy Sunday!!

My mom pays for our W+ subscription and that’s how we get groceries. Sometimes we pick them up curbside and sometimes we get delivery. The nicest feature, though, which I just started using is the free prescription delivery from their pharmacy. Very much worth the $4 tip to not have to go into the store and deal with all the masses just for a couple prescriptions.

Sadie woke us up around 0630 by hurking up a hairball on the blanket. Just as well, as I was having a horrible dream of being stuck in the bowels of a labyrinthine building with no clear way out.

The niece cancelled for today and is coming tomorrow after work instead. She works weird shifts as an ER nurse and gets her days mixed up. So today will likely be another quiet one. I do need to hit the grocery again for some things.

The new credit cards showed up in the mail yesterday. I almost tossed the envelope, thinking it was junk mail. :grimacing:

I still prefer to walk the aisles myself and make my own selections, especially meat and produce. Maybe one day I’ll trust some stranger to pick the right bananas for me, but today isn’t that day!

FCD just left for the boat. Daughter left Akron a bit ago - according to her GPS, she’ll be here around 4 (which I’m pretty sure will stretch to at least 5, so I’m going to time supper for 5:30 unless she gets caught in some messy traffic. I tidied the kitchen and the ice maker is making good ice. I also prepped the basement for the grandspawn, and while I brought in firewood, it won’t be cold enough to have a fire. But I’ll be ready when the temps drop.

Looking at the long-range weather, I’m thinking Weds will be a good day to go see my mom. Rain is promised on Thurs. So that’s the tentative plan for now.

I’ve got about 2 anna half hours till the kids invade. Chillage shall ensue till then.

Is that akin to herding cats?

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Today’s agenda is stripping the bed, washing sheets and remaking. I also need to call Cologuard to check what the heck happened to the pickup. I may have to take it to the UPS store myself.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Good morning, everyone.

It’s 44°F and raining. Rainfall of varying intensity is projected to fall throughout much of the day, and our daytime high will only be 49°F.

It became pretty stormy here yesterday, especially last night. Branches and leaves were blown down and were smacking the house and our windows. Some of those fir tree branches were largish. Maisie was terrified, and she was up on the couch behind me, trembling and stress panting for two or three hours. Buster became concerned enough about her that he climbed up there too, and rested his head on her flank, or would sit up and put his paw on her flank. At any rate, I was not exactly comfortable. The couch is not huge, and almost 160 pounds of dog was draped over my torso and legs. Finally, she calmed down, but then I was wide awake and had a rather restless night.

Shoe, I’m sending you hugs, and I’m not yelling at you. The black dragon is adorable; it was very kind of the customer to hand it over.

We didn’t go out to dinner last night and opted for breakfast for dinner since we had leftover fried potatoes with onions.

I’m pretty sure today will be a day of sloth and chill, with a couple loads of laundry tossed in for good measure.

Alrighty, it’s time for more coffee. You all take care.

I felt the same way. It totally made my night.

I DID! IT WAS A CHICKEN BOOBIE AND A SLICE OF GARLIC BREAD!

You would die if you saw my car. Aside from the half-zillion kerchiefs and bandanas for work, there’s a spare pair of shoes and two pairs of socks (in case I step in a puddle or spill something on me) a winter coat, and at least one sweater.

And that’s in the summer. Come winter, you could comfortably dress a snowman from my car.

Hey, a girl’s gotta be prepared.

I have a recurring similar dream. Very unpleasant.

D’aaaawwwwwww.

Do the elevators not work or only go up? Doors that lead nowhere? Man, I hate that.

Morning all. Up to 55F weather, which will get to 64F later today. Picked up my NY Times and some Little Debbie pies and then met with a parent whose soccer player had left his stuff behind after a game, got that transferred and then went to the Sunny Side Cafe for 4 large pancakes and two slices of bacon, so no steakhouse today (next week for sure). The Weather Wizards are promising rain today, but the powers-that-be say we’ll play the 12:30 games nevertheless, so I guess I’ll get a cold shower today. That should take care of my outdoor activities so I will spend the balance reading and watching tackleball. It is only going to 62F today, so deciding what to wear under my soccer uniform is my biggest decision of the day.

And now to see what’s transpiring with my fellow Mumpers this Sunday…

shoe, so “why is everybody always pickin’ on me?”

That seems unusual, you used to have to drag me to the store and I thought the common belief is that boys hated shopping…but then again, I’m old and unfamiliar with the younger generation…

Sticky Buns, the house may be a disaster and things are weird indeed, but there are worse things than sitting with a poodle in your lap…

swampy, happy Processional-teaching.

FCM, like you I don’t buy enough at the Mart of Wal to justify delivery expenses, but seems like more and more people are letting other folks do their shopping, given the abundance of carts with multiple containers being wheeled around by employees. LIke you, I prefer to do it myself. Hope all the timing works out.

Cookie, glad Sadie could clear things up for you by being sick…wait, that doesn’t sound right, but I’m sticking with it. And glad the new cards made it, hope these don’t get frauded too.

red, I have a UPS droppoff about 3 miles from my house so it’s no problem to run it over there, never had a shipping problem with them.

Taters, having a poodle on your lap is nice, having two larger-than-average canines draped over you is a little bit of overkill, IMHO. Take care and have a restful day.

Don’t think I have ever had a ‘hopelessly lost’ type dream, at least none that I can remember.

OK, need to check the Sunday You Tubers and I have about 2 hours until soccer (and the rain). Take care all.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 8c/46f with a predicted high of 11c/52f and with scattered showers. Weather app says “More fucking rain to screw up your fucking plans today.” Not messing with my plans, I only needed to go out side for a couple of minutes!

Same here. My usual supermarket is part of a large chain and I sometimes get vouchers for money off petrol, but the nearest store with a petrol station is a few miles away so the saving is not really worth the time and effort it takes to get there.

Yes, you definitely do - and I’m glad you’ve made a decision on that already. I’m sure your family will be very happy to see you too. Great news on WifeBFF too, I hope you enjoyed your reunion!

Awww….how sweet of him to give it to you

How will you manage to keep your reputation as the Dread Pirate Boo?!

Poodle therapy, pets do the best job of making us feel better or at least accept that we can’t move to do anything else because it’s against the law to disturb a comfortable pet.

Good of her to do that and help you get out of a bad dream. I’m sorry to hear of Mrs Cookie’s continuing health woes, I hope she can be persuaded to take the extra tests.

Late check-in with you lot after a rather busy weekend. Yesterday I had a lie-in and abandoned the plan to go to the gym because I had a painfully sore throat and a snotty nose. Good idea, in the end. Instead, we had lunch at home then I drove us to the supermarket as ‘im indoors needed some stuff that he can’t easily get back home on his bike. Then we went over to Little Paws HQ to pick up a raffle prize won by my friend’s husband. Said friend was coming to ours that evening so we agreed I’d pick it up and hand it over. Along with the raffle prize, I came home with more cat litter, a couple of fleecy blankets, various types of food to tempt all of the girls, a couple of stuffed mice, a scratching post a flat scratcher, and some Dreamies.

Friend arrived, we had dinner here then I drove us all to Cannock to see some bands. The venue’s been refurbished since we were last there, they’ve moved the stage and the mixing desk, and moved some of the seating. It was interesting but I’m not convinced it is entirely successful. Anyway, the bands were excellent, met some friends and had a few pints of water since I was the driver. We were home just before midnight and to be honest, I was glad to be home because my throat was still very sore, and my head felt very stuffy. Remembered to change all the clocks that needed to be done (except the car, I’ll do that tomorrow), had some wine, and went to bed.

I was up before the others this morning, got the cats fed and watered, cleaned the litter trays and had a bit of quiet time before our friend was awake. Then we had a couple of cups of tea before ‘im indoors surfaced. Sore throat has become a cough now, so plenty of tea was required. I made breakfast for everyone and our friend has just left to drive home. Should only take her an hour or so, and she stayed at ours late enough to miss the incoming football traffic. Today’s kick-off was 2pm so the match is probably nearly over and she’ll miss the traffic on the way out too. I am off to have a nice soaky bath because I deserve one. Having made breakfast already, dinner is leftover curry out of the freezer. I’ve done enough cooking and entertaining for one day.

It’s 51°F now, but was only 41 when I woke up…that’s downright chilly! Not having to take a dog out first thing (and several more times) every day is still bittersweet, but I think by the time it’s properly winter I’ll be able to properly appreciate it. It’s a bit cloudy, but there’s enough sun that I don’t have to turn on any interior lights and I can appreciate the fall foliage that’s visible from inside (there are lots of big trees in my yard/neighborhood). The leaves around here hit peak color about a week ago; I always enjoy the show. If I ever move someplace where the leaves don’t change I know I’ll miss it.

WifeBFF wound up cancelling dinner yesterday. Honestly, I’m not surprised: she’s ecstatic about being done with dialysis and she is starting to feel better, but she’s still recovering from the month-long ordeal and is bound to still have some bad days. We’ll see how she feels in another week.

So, yesterday was full of TV and Lego and sloth. On a whim, I ordered a pizza for dinner; I’ll have a couple slices for lunch today. Today will be much like yesterday, except I’ll do laundry at some point. It’s going to be another long/busy week, so I’m definitely appreciating this quiet weekend.

It’s hard to believe that election day (note: I’m only talking about my county) is next week already! This Wednesday I’ll leave work early and go to the county government center for 2 hours of refresher election officer training. I don’t really need it, and the last election I worked was only five months ago, but I always figure it can’t hurt – though if there are any fires at work that day I won’t mind if I have to cancel. Then I’ll help set up the polling place on the evening of the 3rd, as I always do, and the 4th will be the Super Long Day. I’ll be a provisional specialist again (assisting voters who need to cast provisional ballots, including same-day registrants): I enjoy it, because I like interacting with voters. I especially love helping first-time voters, be they teens or new citizens.

Normally I’d work from home the day after the election, because I’ll be fine in the morning but the 16-hour day will start hitting me at around 3pm, but my program is holding an all-day “tech expo” on the 5th and a new tool that I’m spearheading will be an exhibit. Two of my direct reports will help staff the table, but I definitely need to be in the building all day. I’ll work from home on the 6th and 7th, though (and the night of the 7th is when I’ll drive up to NJ).

Heh! Nah. I’ve certainly seen The Goonies, but it doesn’t mean much to me. If I were inclined to get a pirate ship it would be the Black Pearl.

I think my next new set will be the tropical aquarium: I’m not really a fish person, but this looks awesome!

That is so cool! (Both the gesture and the critter!)

I usually shop in person but sometimes get groceries delivered from Wegman’s, and if I need bananas in a delivery I let the InstaCart shopper pick them. Their produce tends to be better than Giant’s or Safeway’s. I have a note in InstaCart asking for the bananas to be as yellow as possible but stating that some green is OK, and that I’ll understand if they have to be mostly green. I’ve had good luck with that so far. (:crossed_fingers:)

Ugh…feel better soon! :people_hugging:

Sometimes okay often I don’t feel like doing the grocery shopping. Never tried delivery. But I am a frequent user of the pick up option. It’s free. I shop on the app and they bring my groceries to the car and load them, I don’t even have to get out of the car.

Very convenient and a time saver, well one still has to spend time shopping online. But I find it very interesting and have discovered items I normally would roll right by. I filter by brands or savings. Yesterday I discovered frozen cubes of garlic/ginger/ turmeric on sale. Yeah let’s get some ginger cubes, and Bao buns , never saw those before in the thrifty acreage.

Once in a while I get home and find they screw up an order. But thus far it’s been in my favor, usually involving substitutions I didn’t authorize but they added them anyway and didn’t charge me. Vodka mules when I wanted high noons, buttermilk biscuits when I wanted jimmy dean in the red box, lunch meat. I kept it, why involve cs? They would just get confused and waste all our time trying to understand my problem.

I have really enjoyed living somewhere with a proper autumn. Some of the maples around here are breathtaking right now.

Concur heartily!

I haven’t even had any time off work (yet) but just knowing it will happen soon has been such a weight off, that I realized a bit ago that for the last TWO nights, I slept a solid 6 or 7 hours - maybe 8? - without interruption, no insomnia, just pure, deep rest.

Cannot tell you how good it feels.

Yaay! That is sooo awesome to hear. Everything good is nigh impossible with poor sleep.

My sumacs are ablaze and the shagbark hickory yellows dazzle. Red oaks a deep deep crimson. And the purple asters still abloom in some spots. Waiting on witch hazel to pop out her yellow flowers.

Pics, please?

I’ll “pay the tax” by posting a few from ‘round here, in return.
