(Old) A Routine MMP

I have a snow scraper/brush and a small afghan in my trunk. And a phone - I’m prepared for anything!!

Once again, FedEx left my delivery where it could have been run over. They leaned it against the frame around the garage door, all of ONE FOOT from the porch. Jerks.

Trevor and Otis have been running amok - mostly Otis attacking Trevor. I had to throw them both outside because they were playing too rough inside and ran into a table FIL made - I’d hate for them to break it. So they’re in the yard, Roxy is in the basement, and Tobias is on my recliner watching Moana 2 (he and his sister had a tiff.) FCD came home for a sammich, then went back to the boat. I need to start the pot roast - it takes about 3 hours on top of the stove, so it’s time.

Off to the kitchen with me!

MSP has finally gone into full fall foliage mode. This week will be mostly 50s during the day and mid-30s at night.

After a fried egg sandwich breakfast I made a grocery run. Looks like this month’s total will be quite a bit less than last month’s, for some reason. It’s not because of prices going down, I can tell you that. And what’s up with fruit? Anybody else seeing a shortage? I haven’t seen raspberries on the shelf for a couple of weeks, and the strawberries have been really bad. Oops, just did a quick search and yes, there are shortages all over. Gee, I wonder why. . .

I cleaned, dusted, and vacuumed. I changed Spot’s litter and took out the trash and recycling. I changed the bedding(with Spot’s assistancemeddling>, and have the first of 3 loads in the dryer. Lunch is shredded chicken tacos. Watching bad handegg. I may nap post lunch.

“Baby Priest and The Acolytes” would be a great band name.

Yeah, walking to the dumpster in an aloha shirt and a jacket.

Pretty bad dream if Cat hornk is a relief.

GOOD.

If you ever build it, I’ll bring the rum.

Does he have airholes? < concerned >

swampbear, did the Whiskeypalians give a nod to Reformation Sunday when you deheathenized today? Or just maybe sing :A Moghty Fortress?

The no mess declutterring is working. I put on a podcast and got started on the desk. Most of it was “ I’ll put it here and deal with it later “. I dealt with it now. The desk top went from stuff falling off to 13 items and room to work. All in a half hour.

I also got my mobile installed on the ceiling. One of the things I found on the desk was fishing line. That worked for the mobile. The 5 minute better thing is going well. I installed the mobile on one of my 5 minute better breaks.

Got a very booked week coming up. I’m looking forward to giving out the Halloween items on Friday.

We discovered why Otis was disappearing in to the woods - there was a headless deer carcass lying by the fence. So that was fun…

It’s out by the road and I notified animal control.

Afternoon all. A lazy rainy gray but warm day here.

Big news at my end is yesterday GF met w her son & they had the afternoon, dinner, evening, overnight, and morning together.

Son now has a much better appreciation for the timeline of her & hub’s relationship falling apart over a decade+. He gets it. His Dad’s turned into a bitter recluse and it didn’t start 6 months ago when divorce was filed. That was the beginning of the end, not the beginning of the beginning.

And that’s plenty of progress for this visit.

Also had a good yak w a long time pilot pal who’ll be retiring in a couple months. He was at his final annual refresher training event before retirement. Which is one of many classic milestones on the way out the door. He’s a philosophical character and we spent some time on that topic.

Training is always a mix of triumph and trepidation. It’s a bit of an annual landmark in your career, a birthday or anniversary of sorts. You look forward to it, prep for it, try to peak while you’re there, and always feel wasted but relieved on the way out the door. “Whew! Fooled 'em again.” Feels weird to walk through that huge familiar complex one last time, then get on the bus to the airport to ride home, never to return.

One door closes and another one opens.

I wonder if he’ll be enjoying any indigestion? Is there someplace you can keep him overnight that’d be extra easy to clean up?

He’s crated overnight and at worst, I’ll have to launder the cover on his bed. But he snarfed down his supper, so I’m going to assume he’s fine. Idiot dog.

Daughter has taken her spawn and her dog home. Otis has crashed - he and Trevor ran and rassled and generally wore each other out. I’m just enjoying the quiet as my dishwasher sloshes.

A friend from church is bringing me tortillas tomorrow. Very helpful. Now to find someone with sour cream and refried beans.

Howdy Y’all! Deheathenization and acolyte herdin’ went well. I do believe the little house monkeys will do great next Sunday! OYKW told me to call him before I left, so I did. He then asked me to please bring home some stoner food. Even said he was makin’ sad puppy dawg eyes. Sad puppy dawg eyes cannot be ignored so I got stoner food. The Stinker!:poop: Nappage, day drinkin’ and general sloth have taken up the rest of the day. Also the biiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow.

BBBOO sorry your friend cancelled dinner, but a day of sloth and Lego sounds good to me!

BooFae feel better soonest.

shoe yay for good sleep. Also how cool about the demon cat stuffie. I think you should call it a demon cat because that amuses me.

MOOOOOOM you have inspired me sorta. Your mention of pot roast made me go to da freezer to dig out a hunk o’ beast. I saw some beast stew I had made and frozen and decided that will be tomorrow’s sup instead. I will even be thoughtful and thaw it out and heat it up. Otis found a tasty snack in the woods!

doggio I think “Baby Priest and the Acolytes” would have to be a death metal band.

CupCakes we did not give a nod to Reformation Sunday today. Don’t know why cause we usually do. It’s not a Whiskypalian thing per se, but it’s OK to do so. Also “A Moghty Fortress” sounds like a great hit song for “Baby Priest and the Acolytes.” My brain goes to some strange places.

Rocker in keepin’ with the fact that my mind goes to strange places, I read your post and thought “ How strange! Why would one want one’s phone on the ceilin’.”

Howdy all, back from the soccer and gym afternoon, the 12:30game started in the rain and it fell (lightly) on and off for the duration, which was only an hour. Then since the gym was on the way home and I was dressed for it (and just happened to have a gym bag with me for the other bits I needed) spent a couple hours working out and then decided to watch the championship game for the U9’s, since I had invested so much time in them this weekend. So am now home with the room heater running because it is cooling down out there (57F now) and the rain is due to stick around until tomorrow morning with no appreciable warming. Did transfer my Sirius XM membership from my old car to my new one, so I have done something constructive today.

So let’s see how Sunday played out for the rest of you…

boo fae, had to look up Dreamies, trust that the cats have a high opinion of them. Hope you get to feeling better soon.

Oopsie, happy electioneering. And that Lego looks amazing.

shoe, I concur, a good 7-8 uninterrupted hours (my bladder tends to block that these days) of sleep can be a panacea.

FCM, I usually get USPS or UPS deliveries, they usually are left at my door or in my mailbox depending on the size of the item. Don’t get Fedex too much. And you probably did daughter a good service by wearing Trevor out too…and was the deer headless because of Otis or did something else remove it before him?

rocky, may have to look into that ‘no mess decluttering’ technique, I have a couple of places that need it badly.

Pilot, that is good news from GF, with son back on board she can concentrate on getting the split accomplished as quick as possible.

Well, I guess if you are dancing there…

And that’s all for now.

After dog parking, we stopped by the museum. My boss was in with her pup, so Peach got some more one on one time with another doggo. Then, as I was leaving I got a text that one of the water features wasn’t working. New install. I went back and couldn’t do a full inspection with the place full of people. Fun for tomorrow.

Yeah, my nearest one is about that far. I just opted for pickup since I’d be home all day. I’ll make the drop off tomorrow.

Shoot, raspberries have been on sale here for a couple of weeks for $.97 a half pint. I’m loving having the variety of produce that I don’t have to spend an arm and a leg for down here.

OYKW knows the cravin’! (I miss stoner food).

Houseirk done and supper et. Talked to Dad for a bit and now for chillage.

MetalMouse - FCD thinks Otis may have killed the deer and probably ate its face and brains…tho we didn’t see a skull, so who knows? I do know he’s one pooped pup. He’s been snoozing since Trevor left.

I made a list of foods to take to Mom’s. My sister isn’t much of a cook, so I’ll make some heat-n-serve meals. Tomorrow will be cooking day. After a grocery run. Good times ahead!

Watching F1 Quali before the Green bay game. the Panthers game was disappointing. But the poke loin, sweet N.O.T. and Wisconsin Old Fashioned are not.

< crosses fingers >

Happy Heretic Day!

And the opening act for Snüggie Death Cült.

I remember when my dad used to help a friend deliver cars from his used car lot. Dad brought a car to a Catholic parochial school, and the nun who was the principal asked which parish he belonged to. Dad had to tell her he was Lutheran, Missouri Synod at that. He said they both laughed. Speaking of heretics!

I’m losing cats again. I haven’t had those sort of stress dreams for years but here we are.

My BFF says that she saves a whole lot of money ordering pick up groceries. She doesn’t get to walk past the snack aisle that way.

That’s so sweet. Dang for you, though.

Our brandawg was afraid of thunder but calmed a lot if I grabbed her and stuffed her in my desk knee hole and sat in front of her so she could pant and drool on my legs.

There was a lot of St Bernard in that girl and when she was nervous, she could drool like she had papers.

Not only do you deserve one, they can help break up the ick you have going on in your head.

It’s amazing, I honestly had NO idea how beautiful it could be on a daily basis.

Sleep makes such a difference. Good sleep is so important, I’m so happy you are getting some.

Are you planning on going anywhere or just stocking up on supplies and bed-rotting the entire time? No judging, I did a lot of people avoidance when I was off work as well.

This never happens to us. The worse that happens is that they will put our packages on the back steps under the carport.

I know you should get the same service as anyone else, but I’m sure that the difference is that I’m willing to bribe them. Our regular delivery folks get cash the beginning of December and all of them have access to the snack bin on the porch.

(Don’t tell anyone, but they are also willing to put heavy boxes inside our entry way for me if I ask.)

Are you able to clock in before the museum opens? So you don’t have helpful littles swarming you?

As to the happens round these parts.

Harry almost got murderized today. Of course, I wouldn’t have seen a thing. I saw him out in the gully with a extension ladder on his mower and then I watched him put the ladder against a tree and shake it around like he was seeing if it was steady enough for him to climb. I was on my way out the door to start hollering at him “Harry, have you gone and lost your mind?!?!?” and suddenly their school bell started clanging.

Mrs Harry was clanging the bell and waving her hands at him. He looked guilty and stood in front of the ladder like a kid trying to hide something, then got back on his mower and went home. I stopped watching at that point, sometimes a man just needs to be beaten to death with a walker.

The balloons we bought yesterday were on the floor this morning and didn’t start rising again when the house warmed up. Bummer, it kept Jolene busy for hours yesterday. I wonder if a Mylar balloon would hold the helium longer.

Speaking of wondering things…I’ve been gathering up a box of period supplies to take to the woman’s shelter.

Does anyone have experience with washable period panties? Is this something a homeless person would be able to use and wash in a sink or would they end up being a one-time-use thing?

Hullo, all, with fond greetings, hugs and snugs all around!

I’ve been scarce for good reasons, not that it affects you all one way or the other. May 2025 please hurry up and come to a close, and may 2026 somehow be an improvement?

At last, as of yesterday, most of my adversities had been overcome. My Dad is out of the hospital. The pond is repaired and refilled, as is the broken water line under the patio. The new internet cable is installed and wonderfully operational. It is only half as costly (now the install is complete) as my slow satellite internet was. My expensive satellite tee vee is replaced with reasonably priced streaming services. I finally have an adult cell phone. My expensive copper wire home phones are replaced with reasonably priced VoIP. And they all work very well. My old but super reliable car has received overdue maintenance and is happy about it.

Finally, yesterday, a sigh of contentment! A day of unapologetic sloth stretched out ahead!

But no. We suffered a power outage.

Usually I am well prepared for these occurrences, but owing to everything I’ve been preoccupied with over the past few months, this one caught me unawares. No biggie. I’ll just go gather up some firewood from the shed and if it’s a lengthy outage, I’ll be well fixed to stay warm with the wood burner. Off I went.

As I grabbed lengths of cut wood to toss into my wheelbarrow, I suddenly felt a dreadful but familiar pain. I was being attacked by wasps. On the face. Near my eyes. Painpainpainpainpain!!! I was lucky and got away with only 3 stings. Two warriors came in the house with me, one tangled in my hair and the other buzzing away in my mud room. They quickly became deceased wasps.

The power outage was fortunately short. I was able to nurse my sore face with ice. But I still woke up this morning looking like the Elephant (wo)Man.

Can 2026 be better, please? Please? God, I hate wasps!!

More when I’m in a better frame of mind.

I’m thinking that someone either shot or hit it and took the head for a trophy. Usually, animals will go for the abdominal cavity first.

I’ll have to make do by ratcheting up the crankiness and hope for the best.

I’ll pitch in with gin to go with the quinine we’ll need to fight off malaria and tropical malaise.

Stick with disposables. It’s hard to women to find ways to wash their hair much less undies (and they take forever to dry and you can’t exactly hang them off your shopping cart to dry in the fresh air.)

I try to supply my downtown library librarian friends with tampons, pads and panty liners to hand out to the street people who hang out there. I supply the library security guards with free narcan.

Whatever you do, good on you and thank you for the dignity you are gifting.
