A sad, busy trip to Cottonfield County: this week's MMP

I actually started yawning at work because I was working so hard on the “just breathe” part. I have an appointment on the 29th so hopefully I can get some therapy to help me out. I seriously thought I was past this crap after 2007.

Don’t step in a poodle.

It’s important that a utensil serve a dual purpose.

Dindin was pot roast, smashed N.O.T. 'n gravy, green beans and steamed baby carrots. Plus cornbread. I done good!

Feel better Spaz!

WetOne the correct pronunciation is actually pee-can.

Good luck with the insurance stuff mmmmmms.

Nut it’s fine to wear a sack as long as you properly accessorize. After all the key to f-aaaaaa-bu-lous dress lies in knowing how to accessorize!

Bobbio that’s a terrible pun! I love it!

I’m going to roast N.O.T.s thanks to Swampy’s mention. It’s time, with the rainy day.

Spaz, it happens all the time to me, but is getting better after major med re-tooling and beginning therapy this summer. Hold on-- the cavalry is coming!

Hi, honey(s), I’m home (at my mom’s house)!!! What a day!!

Last night, I crashed a bit before 9 and slept almost till 6 - guess I was tired, huh? So once I got up and dressed and stuff, I headed to the diner to meet my high school friend for breakfast. I kinda didn’t plan for so much TRAFFIC not to mention the stoopit school bus (which, thankfully, turned off after a couple of miles.) Still, I got to the diner at the later end of the range I’d suggested and my friend had already gotten a table. She and I wound up talking for an hour anna half, and it would have gone on, but I needed to get to the horspital. Still, it was nice to catch up with her.

As I was cruising the closest parking lot to the entrance I needed, I saw a car pulling out, so I got a super-great parking spot - yay! And once I got up to the 3rd floor, my sweetie was sitting up in the recliner (I freaked for a second, since his bed was empty and stripped and I didn’t see him right away.) Both of his surgeons visited today, as well as the physical therapist and the occupational therapist. He was fitted for a back brace, and he walked, climbed steps, and got on and off the toilet - all things required before they’ll let him leave. He was also visited by a massage therapist and got a hand massage - they’d never done that before, but he said it was really nice.

I crocheted 2 hats while sitting with him, and I learned from various folks what I’ll need to do to take care of him. So it was a good day for me. Then about 6, I left for my date…

Somehow, I missed the turn that I wanted, but I know the area well enough that I figured out where I had to go, and I got to the restaurant almost exactly on time. My friend was already there - I’d have never recognized him. Then again, last time I saw him, he was 14 - 43 years ago! All I’d remembered was he had dark hair. Well, he’s now got greying hair and a receding hairline and a salt-n-pepper mustache. We talked about all kinds of things for almost 2 hours, and we probably could have kept going, but he had to go to work and I needed to get here and get some rest. But it did come up that he likes to sail, so I told him I’d invite him to go out on the bay with us come spring or summer. It was a really nice dinner, and the crab cake was AMAZING!!! Plus he picked up the check, which was a nice surprise.

**Spaz **- that page you linked to wasn’t the one he printed out. I’ll see if I can find out from him were it is. Incidentally, his surgeon grabbed the printout and “fire extinguisher” and took it back to his office with him.

As for a nick for Opal, seems to me the logical one is #3… right?

**Brynda **- we’re doing a bathroom remodel of sorts, altho it’s not an inconvenience. We’re converting the shower/tub area of the basement bathroom into the sump and mechanical area for our aquarium. The water will be piped thru the floor into the hall closet, and from there, into the cabinet under the fish tank where it will connect with the plumbing. But I guess that really has nothing to do with your little project, does it?

I know there’s more I should reply to, but I’s tahred, so I’m going to hit the sheets. There’s a chance we can go home tomorrow - it all depends on when the drainage from the incision gets down to pretty much nothing. If not tomorrow, definitely Thursday. Either way, I’m ready to go home. But first, I’m ready for sleepy-bye. MWAH!!

No, Bobbio, better than sex–we took a nap. Nothing better than a weekday nap. The sheer naughtiness of it.

Glad to hear your DH is progressing so well, FCM.

Brynda - I’m remodelling the entire downstairs!

the coughing has subsided for the most part, and the pulled muscle seems to be healing. But I have my regular doc appt tomorrow, so I’m just going to follow up, make sure I really am getting better.

Sadly, no.

Up, caffeinated, off to irk. Martinis and vacuuming tonight.

rosie, hope the muscle heals quick. I sneezed yesterday, and it hurt so much I went fetal on the sales floor.

I can’t blame the dog this time. I woke about 4:45 and despite my best efforts, I couldn’t turn my brain off, so here I am. meh

The plan is to pack the car, just in case we’re going home today. There’s no way I’d drag my poor sweetie all the way here before turning aound to go back home. I need to remember to borrow a pillow or two - the back brace makes him sit offset from the back of the seat, so pillows will be necessary for a comfortable ride. And if we don’t go home today, well, I’ll be all packed for tomorrow.

It’s weird to sleep in a full size bed - ours at home is a king. The width isn’t an issue since it’s just me, but I do notice the reduced length when I stretch. I miss my own bed. But at least I don’t have to sleep on the torture device known as the sofa bed - that thing makes waterboarding seem like a day at the beach!

It’s also weird having to park outside - I get frost on my car, and of course, I left my ice scraper at home, so I need to warm it up to clear my windows. That’s why I love my garage!

We shall see what the day holds - Happy Wednesday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 44 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 73. Yestiddy I wore a suede jacket which was fine in the mornin’ but by afternoon was too hawt to wear. So, today I shall wear a lighter jacket. I know how important it is for y’all to know my fashion choices.

MOOOOOOM glad FCD is doin’ pretty good. Also glad your dates went well. Does FCD know you’ve been datin’ while he’s in the horsepistol? :stuck_out_tongue: Oh and ICK on frosty car windows. Inside parkin’ is one of the most wondrous inventions of all times is it not!

doggio an evenin’ of durkene vacuumin’? Sounds adventurous (adventureous?)!

Now I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy wants brekkie. Then, alas, irk purtification must commence.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

**swampy **- of course he knows about my datin’ - he knew when I permitted you to escort me to dinner. I don’t sneak around on my sweetie, and he knows the value of a free meal! :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, either I’m a hypochondriac or I’m experiencing lithium toxicity, but I’ve not been feeling well lately. I just happen to already have an appointment scheduled with my doctor tomorrow, but I thought I was going to end up in the ER last night. I’d really rather not have to do that. So I guess I’ll just try to drink lots of water today and hold on tight.

Blurf.

I’m about two orders of magnitude less grumpy today than I was at this time yesterday. This will save me money I would have had to spend on Maalox.

Today is my Firday. Tomorrow I have to go back to the olde homesteade to finish the cleanup, and I guesstimate a short handful of hours of me doing the work solo will finish the job. I want this whole fiasco done and over.

Back to the salt mine. Carry on.

I’m eating boudin balls for brekkie! Yum!

Today is my last day of work before vaycay. w00t! My department is having a luncheon at some swanky Latin Fusion restaurant. That will be fun.

The only thing I have to do today is back up my computer, because my lease is up on this one and they’re swapping out workstations while I’m gone.

Ha! Found the exact same hat as I bought me Mam 6 years ago in a small shop in NZ available online from a place in Yorkshire. What a small world this is sometimes

Got it in a different colour this time, but she did really like the last one before she lost it (or, according to her, my Dad nicked it and hid it 'cos he don’t like hats, though she might be imagining that one). So I get a reprieve on walking round the city centre in the rain, yay!

Now just need to get the unimaginative booze 'n chocolate presents, for the more distant relatives and I’m done!

Have yourself a splendid Wednesday all!

Nut there is nuttin’ unimaginative about booze or chawklit. Says the booze 'n chawklit hound.

I would love a gift of chocolate or booze. Those little chocolate bottles of liqueurs were 2 gifts in one! Remember the days when a carton of cigarettes was a totally acceptable present???

Uh, no. But I do remember the days when safe sex meant you had a padded headboard.

I don’t know what your budget is but here is one on Amazon for less than $16…Amazon.com: Fox Run Polished Marble Rolling Pin with Wooden Cradle, 10-Inch Barrel, White: Home & Kitchen

I posted this in my journal already but it was pretty weird so I’m posting it here too. Hope you don’t mind:

So yesterday morning I left for work a little early to stop and fill my gas tank since I was just below 1/8 and I usually fill it at 1/4. Just as I finished filling the tank and was entering the odometer reading, price, and gallons into my aCar tracking app, A man calls out to me from the other side of my car: “Hey, do you eat at the Olive Garden?”

I looked around to make sure he was talking to me. He clearly was so I looked back and said, tentatively, “um, sometimes? Yes?” He then held up two gift cards. He explained that it was all he had on him and he really needed gas. He didn’t have any cash or credit cards, just the gift cards. He said he’d sell them to me for $15 each, which was $10 off the face value. He offered to let me call the number on the back to check the balance on the cards.

I knew already that I only had a $20 in my wallet (I don’t carry much cash) and I’ve been the one with no money at the gas station trying to enlist the aid of strangers before (in my much younger days, thankfully) and I know what it’s like. I told him I’d give him $20 for one of the cards, and that I didn’t need to call the number. I didn’t say it, but my thought was either the card is good, and I just got $5 off at Olive Garden, or the card is not good, and I helped a guy out for $20 which really isn’t all that much money. Not really a down side to the decision.

He was really thankful and went back to his car. Then his head popped up over the top of his car and he asked me “do you go to CVS?” and I said “yeah, usually…?” and he said “Here, I have a 30% off coupon for CVS. You can have it,” and he gave me the receipt coupon for 30% off. I guess because I’d given him $5 more than he had asked for for the gift card, I don’t know.

The whole thing was just kind of odd. I hope I helped the guy out.
