I don’t understand the rule, but the Amish can use gasoline powered engines as long as they are stationary. Horses can pull the equipment because the motor isn’t moving itself.

Happy Birthday Juliet!

Front yard mowed and got a start on the back, but took a break. (it’s 85F already at 10:30am). I’ll either finish it in a bit or waiting for the evening (back yard is in shadow then).

flytrap, if you prefer Coke with your raisin bread, I can accomodate…

Butters, I agree with Juliet, you may have to run to the store for a couple of parts, but fixing it shouldn’t take very long.

**sari **- thanks for that link. I’m not sure I’ll ever understand Amish rules, but since they don’t apply to me, it’s just idle curiosity. I know I’ve mentioned before about the time I saw a young Amish man playing a video game outside a pizza place - it might have been an old PacMan arcade game. Just an odd sight.

Just found out the boss is going on leave for the next week anna half. Baby Engineer is going to live in his house while he’s gone. It appears I’ve started him on a cottage industry!

Lunch hour almost over. Tim’s brought me a pile of stuff, so yay for work!

Happy Birthday Juliet!!

Thanks for the birthday wishes, all! I’m heading off to that obnoxiously long and boring meeting, so I thought I’d head out on a happy note by reading the birthday wishes.

Now, for more coffee…

Just back from lunch.

ISWYDT.

Subtle, huh?

Happy Juliet Day!

One more week day to go. Woot! Pooka Bear is coming up the stairs without breaks now, which is awesome. I’m still waking up at night when he makes noise to make sure he’s ok, but so far he’s doing well.

Other than that, everything is fine. Next week I get to go to truancy court. Wheee! (I’m scared spitless, but I’m told it’s basically a ticket.)

Howdy Y’all! I have been a bzzy bear today. Yahd mowage was accomplished along with cleanin’ off the back porch and pressure washin’ around the cee-mint pond. Got to make things good for the big soiree on Sattidy. After all it is not everyday one plays host to THE MIGHTY YARD GOATS kickball team!

Butters, this is pretty much the recipe I use for Shrimpies 'n Grits. There are all kinds of frou frou recipes but IMO simple is best. Plus this is nummy.

And now this…

Nappage completed. Also received 2,850 yuan (Chinese money) via UPS (the guy actually stayed at the door and got me to sign for the package), so I have my ‘walking around’ money for my vacation.

swampy, did you know there was a Minor League baseball team named the Yard Goats? Yeah, they’re damnyankees, but know I know something I didn’t know before. Hartford Yard Goats | MiLB.com

Sunny, yeah for Pooka!

Home, with a poke roast rotissin’. I got several poke loins - some of which will become poke chops - some ground beef, and some chickie, as well as stuff to go with them. And Klondike bars.

Just another day in paradise. Glad tomorrow is Firday…

Yay Pooka. I have been wondering about him. Sunny don’t fret over the truancy thing. You know you did what was best for the child at the time.

I never did go to the store but hubs has to pass it on his way so he’s gonna grab the chicken and onions I need. Field peas w/snaps and okra and tomatoes shall be sides. I may or may not come up with a starchy substance. We have tons of taters so I should cook some of those. There are some friends of hubby that grow taters for a living and they bring a couple cases each time they come down.

A case of taters is a bunch. Last time we got big redskins and tiny redskins.

I have enjoyed my quiet day at home. Back to the grindstone tomorrow though.

We have supped. Chill mode ensues. MetalMouse they may be Yard Goats but they are not MIGHTY YARD GOATS.

What ID10T installs a toilet without a shutoff? And what building inspector signs off on it? Sounds like hubby has TWO jobs.

Happy Birthday Juliet!

I’m having a grumpy day today.

I got the groceries ordered.
So annoying, my son needs to take over that chore.
He needs to start cooking more too. Spam and beans is easy.

This https://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/toad-in-the-hole will be dinner tonight. Except I don’t throw the ittle circles out. I toast them too to dip in the runny yolks.
I made it yesterday for my son and he really likes it. Unfortunately, I overcooked the egg in the one I made for myself, but the dog liked it.

Worked, came home ,cleaned the kitchen. Getting ready for hockey9Please Hockey Gods, don’t let the Caps win!)

I love that name.

Happy birthday Juliet!

Moooooom**, having grown up in Amish country, I am familiar enough with the group and other plain people to know that Amish congregations are autonomous and can interpret the Ordnung (their rule book) with some level of local control. The Beachy Amish, for instance, generally meet in churches as opposed to homes and some of the congregations can drive cars. Young folks, before they join the church, can drive and dress English until they are baptized and join. ruble or (if he ever shows up again) bobbio could likely give you more detail though.

metal mouse, somehow or another, I just knew before clicking that it would be a link to the famous Peabody Hotel ducks. I love them!

butters, even I can install a <snerk> ballcock <snerk> assembly. Like alien though, the bigger issue is not having a shut off valve.

Yay Pooka!

Last evening, I figured out why Nelson would begin barking and running for the door around 11 PM. When we stepped out about a quarter after nine, my neighbor was walking her lab (beautiful, sweet dog). She said that she usually walks her around 11 when she gets off work, but she had cut out early last evening.

I’m looking forward to a short (I hope) day at irk tomorrow. I wish retirement would hurry up and get here.

Ballcock??. That sounds a little dirty. Hubby says he has the stuff to fix it tomorrow. Sorry for quoting the entire post but I am on an IPad. Sari we call them one eyed jacks and have them often.

That would depend upon local codes and how much the builder is willing to spend. The bathtubs in our house share the same wall, and have no shut offs.

I just peeked at that site again and here are some of the other teams in that league:

Fisher Cats
Rumble Ponies
Sea Dogs
RubberDucks
Flying Squirrels
SeaWolves

and more average names:

Curve
Baysox
Senators
Fightin’ Phils
Thunder

That’s quite a collection. I think I’ll give this list to the next soccer team I coach and let them pick the team name from among them.

Back from the monthly soccer meeting, not much accomplished but I am going to do a study on the refereeing because what the chiefs want to do doesn’t add up, IMHO, but I need to quote actual numbers.
