Are you talking about this part?:
Because I believe Aslan2 was using “able to spell and use grammar” as an adjective, however awkward it may sound. As for “traditional” writing, quit squashing his artistic license.

The teenagers at this board seem to have a better grasp of grammar and spelling, in comparison to most typical teenagers on the internet i.e. the typical teenager uses a lot of leetspeak or abbreviations.
Is that better?
And yes, I do have a pretty good command of English for someone in grade nine.
“We shall first crush the Spanish, then onward to rest of the opposnig countries, we shall crush them under our foot too , but first lets have our tea.”
oops, wrong kind of command.
I now work in a high school as a 41 year old adult after 20 plus years in the private sector. It’s very interesting to see high school life from this side of the fence as I remember some of my own experiences. XWalrus2, you are typical of some of the students I see in that your maturity level has outpaced those of many of your classmates, obviously including Brian. I find that most males begin to mature emotionally around the time they turn 17 years old. Some sooner, some later. The longer Brian waits to mature, the harder time he will have with life in general. He will eventually realize that the negative consequences of his actions make them not work doing. Until then, avoid him when possible, pity him and wait for the testosterone haze to clear.
I do have an lj (my lj). I know who’s on my friends list. If I intend to write anything that I wouldn’t want anyone not on my friends list to read, I lock that entry. There’s enough material in my open entries and my user profile so that anybody coming across me randomly can see what I’m about. Many people do things this way.
Basically I’m saying he can’t have his cake and eat it too. He can’t write anything he wants and have his journal open to comment from random strangers. He could write whatever he wanted for a limited audience or he could write carefully and in public.
Then again, none of this is probably as easy or as simple as I make it sound either. For me, I’m not worried about somebody I know IRL making fun of me for what I write. Just another peril of being a teenager I guess. That’s not to say that I don’t sympathize.
Well, the Hello Kitty tattoo might work quite well. However, if he was wearing a klan hat, how could I prove to anyone that it was Brian?
No, there shouldn’t be a comma between “spelling” and “in”, and “most typical” is redundant.
Of course, my comments are getting into style rather than grammar, which is why I said that putting the subject before the verb is “traditional” rather than “correct”.

What are adults for, if not to quash every sign of individuality in a child?
