A Special Manly MMP

Sweetie is home. Dinner will be out tonight. YAY!

… or not. He changed his mind. Grilled cheese it is…

Today is my sixth anniversary at my job. They usually give out a certificate, announce it over the intercom, and give a card.

I got nuthin. :frowning:

I need to take a walk to reduce my roundness, but I just ain’t in the mood. I’m still getting used to the Boy In School schedule. I was going to walk home today, but he picked me up. It worked out in the end because we needed deoderant and an ironing board and I’m the only one with money right now, but dammit, my walk home is my exercise!

Eh, it ain’t the end of the world. Letting Things Go is my resolution for this month. So far I’m doing pretty good.

Although this does mean I’m going to miss Rifftrax Live: Reefer Madness.

SpazCat’s Christmas present to herself: Rifftrax Live on DVD: Reefer Madness.

Huzzah!

AHEM:

HAPPY SIXTH ANNIVERSARY TO YOU

HAPPY SIXTH ANNIVERSARY TO YOU

HAPPY SIXTH ANNIVERSAY ANN

HAPPY SIXTH ANNIVERSARY TO YOU

Happy Anniversary, Annie! And good thoughts headed out to Saint Zero.

See, Coyote, all kinds’a monkey topics are possible around here.

Or Monkees. We watched the original series and I remember loving it.

Don’t worry about being late for the MMP, Missy. Just jump in whenever you get here.

Thanks for the additional info. That’ll make it easier for for people who are less familiar with aubergine to make.

Have to agree with the EWWWWWWWW above.

Home. Have already walked more than 10,000 steps today. Go me!

Am considering what to eat. Pasta sounds good, but I might wind up just making a few quesadillas. Then I need to go get some yogurt and fruit and veggies. I’m running kinda low on them.

Back after a while.

GT

Appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed, prayers and good thoughts headed out Annie.

Hope Ernie’s better soonest Rebo. How’s Dipsey?

Dindin was teh num! I really outdid myself with that spiral cut ham. Course that means ham sammiches for a few days but that’s never a bad thing, right?

I love you guys. Thanks.

I never got the hang of Tuesdays…

Or Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays for that matter…

Which is about what I’ll get for my 29th next month. I am, however, assured that the 30th makes up for it.

Will do!

I haven’t LOL’d in a while, have I? Please vote for it. I might make it onto the main page.

It stormed, then I worked all day(day before school=) More tomorrow, including waiting for VP.

[color=red[rosie[/color], I LOLed then I voted.

Prayers sent, [n]Ann**.
I hit 8 years at my Job on Sunday, and 22 years in retail. Eight more years, and I’ll be legally insane.

I am at work and half the morning has gone already without me really noticing it. That’s how productive I’ve been!

Had a mixed evening, I gained half a pound at Fat Club which wasn’t unexpected given the week I’ve had, but I’m still within my target range so that’s ok. I heard that my friend (remember the one having a sordid affair with a married man at work?) has been dumped and was wallowing in misery and red wine last night. I sent her a couple of sympathetic messages but it’s hard to do that when you have that “I told you so” thought in your mind all the time.

Nothing else really, it’s pub night tonight so there will be beerverages!

Expressions of happiness and merriment regarding your time of stay at work, along with best wishes for the healthy state of Religiously Approved Null Entity, Ms. Ominous.

What? Sometimes I like letting my inner gnome out.

One of my coworkers just announced that next Saturday is supposed to get the highest temperatures of the year. I think I’ll set several bottles of water to freeze so I’ll have cold water if the light goes out (most people are back from vacation, so the A/Cs will be on in a lot more houses than a couple weeks ago).
Almost done with the dissertation. Looking over the informational packages again, I discovered that I had more time than I thought, too. What I’m doing is so different from The Usual Fare that most of the advice in the packages doesn’t really seem applicable; the whole process is designed for studies based on bibliographical work, mine is experimental; cites are expected to be in the Author (Date) format, but most of my sources can’t fit there (corporate materials with no Author and no Date; ISO Standards) so I’ve had to use a different format and of course I explain so and why in the Introduction… worst case scenario they’ll give me a “rewrite this thing, young lady, and find a few more scholarly sources while you’re at it” grade.

The word length thing is really bugging me. First, that way of measuring length and, ehm, gravitas of work is an English-language thing and one centered mostly in the humanities, so it feels real strange to me: none of us foreigners (over 75% of the students) had encountered it before. Second, we’re given a word count. OK, although word count can vary as much as 10% (seriously!) depending on what program you use. Then we’re given a maximum we can’t surpass (which is equivalent to going 25% over), but not a minimum: do you people familiar with English-language Academia know whether being below the target count will produce fits? I wouldn’t want to send any of my professors to the hospital, poor babies have better things to do with their time than have fits. I don’t know whether the reason a minimum is not given is that being below the target is unacceptable or that it is so unusual that they haven’t consireded it; a lot of the recommendations are about how to shorten your work, which makes me think that overlong papers may have been a problem.
BooFae, I’m sorry for your friend in the sense of being sad that she’s sad, but happy that she can now move on. Anything has to be better than that loser.

Nava - being below the target word count shouldn’t cause too much in the way of academic fits provided you aren’t significantly below it. F’rex, we have a project that has a 5,000 word limit and allow students to be 10% above that without penalty but there’s no penalty for being below the limit. However, one project submitted on that course had a word count of about 2,500 so that was pulled up immediately as being a serious shortfall. Although we may not apply penalties against the marks, you would have to produce an outstanding piece of work to get good marks with only half the available word count used.

Not surprisingly, that project failed.

Right now I’m at 20% below but still need to add required fillers, so I expect I should be able to make it thereabouts of 10% below without needing to inflate the text… that’s with MSWord 2010 wordcounts, previous versions give lower counts.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. I have an interview at 8:30 about a job I’m not too sure about. Sounds excitatin’ don’t it.

BooFae you’re nicer than me. I’d be all, of course he dumped you, what’d you expect would be the outcome of this! I’m not very sympathetic in these kinds of situations.

Happy Wednesday Y’all!

Up, caffeinated, off to irk.

Up, not caffeinated, not off to irk yet.

I’ve got a lunch for 8 people today. Hardly motivational. But, with any luck today I’ll make some pound cake, too.
