A Special Manly MMP

Yay, Ann!!

Are you a wizard?

Yay for the thus far good news Annie!

The job is with the telephone relay service for people who are deaf/hard of hearing. The position is that of manager. Just not sure I want to do it. Interview went well. Thanks for all the good thoughts.

In other news, my sinuses hurt. I hate that!

Yay for good news!

Thanks! BTW, that would be a job I would adore. I trained the call center on what to do when you get a relay call. Wanna come and QA instead?

Sinuses. I feel ya. Welcome to the South.

Sounds better than the cellphone maul center gig you used to have. Relay service has always fascinated me. Go ahead.

As for the sinuses, Claritin-D is my savior. Go ahead.

(For the befuddled, “Go ahead” is the traditional cue to the relay operator to translate and works like saying “Over” on a two-way radio.)

**taxi **- love the afghan! I saved the pattern the last time you posted about it, and I’m glad you reminded me of it. I was looking for a new baby afghan pattern and I’d forgotten about this one. So yay!

**swampy **- your post about the job reminded me of an old old OLD SNL skit where Garrett Morris did “News for the Hard of Hearing” - Jane Curtain would read a line, then Garrett would yell the same line at the camera. Cracked me up!!

Daughter will be at work late today, so it’s just me and my sweetie for supper. Maybe I can persuade him to go out tonight?? We shall see.

Speaking of daughter, she wants “lab coats” for her students. Translation - men’s small or boy’s large white button shirts. If any of you have any of them laying around that you don’t want or need, I’ll gladly take them off your hands. I was going to buy her a set for the classroom, but I couldn’t find any for under $15, and for 30 shirts, that’s some serious scratch… I’ve posted a request at work and on our local classified listing, so obviously I’m not above begging. School starts on Sep 7 - I don’t have much time.

Happy Hump Day - c’mon Firday!!!

My Asus Eee netbook just arrived. It’s a refurbed one I got from Woot.com.
Now I won’t have to pack up the big laptop every morning when I head to the store.
Ima go now.

Thank goodness that Hump (work) Day is over and we’ve only two more days to work this week! Well, at least those of us who work Mon-Fri., that is.

Last week, I discovered that the mice had been partying in my cubby, unfortunately. I had a bag of chex party mix and they’d chomped right through a fabric bag to get to it. They had partied down on it, too. At any rate, the exterminator came on Monday and put down quite a few snap traps, under the desks (mine and several nearby) and one up in the flipper cabinet that the party happened in. Today, just two days later, we caught -three- of em! And one of em got caught while the guy was there to pick em up… he was still… alive! Needless to say, I was squicked out today and now have to wait until Monday again for the exterminator to put out more traps. Oh, he baits them with this cloth that apparently smells like peanut butter and mice find it irresistable. ::shudders::

Sorry for such dreadful tidings … I personally think we should have several cats in our office, btw. Okay, okay… something better to discuss … hmmm…my son has made it to New Mexico safe and sound and started grad school this past Monday! I am just so proud of him!!

Eight more years and I’m writing to the Vatican to have you canonized. Thirty years in retail is worse than what they did to Saint Bartholomew.

My spazghetti sauce recipe has been officially stolen from me. This must be why chefs don’t share recipes. They’re worse thieves than teachers. :frowning:

There’s a convention down at Ye Olde Grove Park Inn. Part of the convention is staying at Ye Olde Spaz’s Workplace. I spent close to four hours shuttling people back and forth yesterday and two hours today. Over one hundred miles have been put on the shuttle van since yesterday. YOGPI is two miles and some change from YOSW. Where’s the mind boggle icon?

I’m tired. Rosie’s sig to all!

We went to the Leonardtown Grille and had a very yum supper. I got the crabcake and shrimp dinner with fresh green beans and a salad. **FCD **had the special - porterhouse with baked N.O.T. and salad. We are both stuffed. Peach streusal pie later.

I’ve got a load in the laundry. Later, I’ll knit. Mostly, I’m chillin’. C’mon, Firday!!!

Whoa, Spaz! That’s a lotta mileage. Sorry about your recipe. You didn’t share it with us on the blog, did you?

Yay?

Heh. I knew exactly where that was going. I’ve watched the whole series a couple of times on hulu and just started reading the novels.

I agree on the cats. What’s your son studying?

Yay for a new netbook,** Bumba**.

Cautious yays on good preliminary results for RANE.

Almost forgot: cute blanket, taxi!

Loved that quote, SO. It may need to go to work with me. We do some of the business analysis and work with the developers and some of our customers are impossible to nail down on requirements. Arggggghhh. (It’s been extra-annoying this week.) I’ve been in parts of whatever business it is I’m actually in for 20 years (I’ve been doing business analysis and related stuff since 1994 and project management-ish stuff since…well, forever. 20 years for this employer; since high school - :cough: years ago - in life).

Off to the grocery for a few things, then it’s back here to take compost and recycling out, put out trash, etc.

Back later.

I regret to say that I usually shotgun and burn mine for doing my zombie thing. But if she thinks its going to be a regular thing, shoot me a PM and I can probably cover you with some for next year.

GilaMonster has gotten another job and tomorrow will be her last day. This, of course, was unavoidable and I’m truly happy for her because it will provide much needed health insurance for her family of 5.

But… How to let go of someone who I have shared so much of life with over the past 4 1/2 years. I’m not going to get all mushy here but I will miss her very, very much.

Aww, Sticky, sorry you’re losing her.

Am off to knit a bit and watch something online before dozing off…

Hugs all.

You guys helped me get through this day. I can’t express how much you all mean to me.

Thanks: I love you all, and good night!

Worked all day again, still waiting on VP. Had a customer walk in and ask for something:
Customer: Where is this(points at front page of Office Max ad)
Me: There(points at the Office Max next door)

Sorry about GilaMonster, Sticky.

Sorry about the recipe, Spaz. Flayed and crucified? Meh, I get worse on a Saturday afternoon.

Bumba, I got a Gateway netbook from W00T! I love it, it’s even Canes red.

Good luck swampy (or meh. as the case may be)!

Herbs, I could loan you Gordie to take care of your vermin. However, nuking your cubicle from orbit would cause less collateral damage.

lost the intertoobs last night, and just got home, so I’m not going to pretend to have read the last two pages.
I’ll just “sig” you all.

Morning all, glad it’s nearly the weekend! I went to the pub last night, beer was consumed and bizarre conversations were had. I got home and into bed before midnight so that was good, got woken up by sirens at 4.30am. Sirens that did not stop, did not fade into the distance and were keeping me awake. Bah.

I is tired today. And I’m out of leftovers so I have to cook tonight. It will be a creation involving marrow, turnips, mushrooms, carrots and celery. And anything else I decide to put in it.

Why oh why do I always stay up so late at night knowing that I will totally regret it in the morning? :smack:

same reason I do
