Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienated. Need to motivate myself toward purtification. ‘Nother job interview at nine this mornin’ for a job with the local cable company. I don’t much like the company but hey, if it pays ok who knows.
We were having lunch with Femboss when she said she had something to tell us, but we had to promise not to tell anybody. Two of us asked whether we could tell our families, the third one asked “so when are you due?”
Healthy sticky thoughts requested on behalf of a very-wanted and quite-unexpected baby, please (they’d been told it “would be difficult” due to a medical problem her husband had years ago).
Thanks for the compliments on the blanket. FCM, you should definitely try it. It’s a great pattern.
Monday, I went to a vendor dinner. The dinner was meh, but I won two tickets to a Twins game. I have absolutely no interest in baseball, and after a moment’s consideration KT decided that he doesn’t either. So we sold them at almost face value (They were really good tickets - box seats on the first base line.) and now have $100 to burn. I think we’re going to try one of the really nice restaurants in the Cities - one that we wouldn’t normally go to, but that with this unexpected extra money, we can check out. Both of us came up with Sea Change as our first thought so I think that’s where we’re going to go. I’m excited.
Went to the interview and interviewed. Took an aptitude test. Well, went down through the test clicking on random answers. Yeah, I was that impressed by it all.
I got that drawing turned in for checking. Hooray! I actually took it home last night and checked it for readiness (while sipping a Jim Beam and diet!) whcih reminds me - I need to add the OT to my timesheet.
Sticky thoughts for Femboss!
1-1/2 hours later:
Heh. I forgot to hit submit. I went out and got me a Chick-Fil-A strip salad. Nom-nom!
I’m posting from my new netbook. I don’t like the keyboard much, but this little thing is a lot easier to haul around.
A few minutes ago a young man came in. He was wearing a red t-shirt with a demon printed on it, a ball cap on his head sideways, and a scowl. He wanted to leave a resume. He grabbed one of my pens off the counter and said “let me just put my phone number on here.” As he was writing, I told him that there were no jobs availabel in my store. He said “I’ll just take this with me then”, grabbed his resume, and left.
I was thinking “If there was a job here, why would I want to spend my entire day with you?”
Did I mention that Verizon sold out to Frontier Communications around here?
Did I mention that Frontier has been migrating our email accounts to their server, complete with new email addresses?
Did I mention that Frontier hasn’t a clue what they’re doing?
It’s taken 2 days for us to get our email working again. :smack:
I dunno Bumba, havin’ one of Satan’s minions in your employ might come in useful. Just sayin’…
Been at the pool for a little bit but had enough. OYKW and MOG are still out there indulgin’ in beerverages and floatin’ on floatation devices that have warnin’s on 'em to use only with competent adult supervision. I’m not sure either one of 'em qualifies.
-swampbear (to make it a good round three here’s another smilie)
I don’t think I ever put the recipe on the blog. A certain someone is about to be declared anathema maranatha with the former Spazghetti Sauce, though. He doesn’t like the cloves. Of course not, we only have whole cloves right now and that’s too much for the sauce! You put a pinch of ground cloves in!
It’s not like I haven’t been making that sauce for years and perfecting it as it goes along. Messing with my Spazghetti Sauce is like messing with someone’s barbecue sauce in East Kakalak. That’s some never forgive action there, as I’m sure Bobbio will agree.
Eh, I’m not complaining too much. He’s better at chopping things than I am. He doesn’t cut himself every single time in the same place. (Seriously, that happened to me earlier this year.)
I got back late last night and had a docs appointment at 7AM this morning so I am tired! But my BP is back within the normal range but they now think I have vertigo so they have referred me for physical therapy and I have to go back in a month for follow up.
I have some phone interviews this afternoon but before that I need to run to the post office and mail a New Baby Gift to Norway and a wedding gift to Colorado and my French Tax check to Paris!
BTW, my four hour meeting only lasted three hours, so I’ve been sprung! However, I am now stuck waiting for my hubby until 4:30, cause that’s when he expected me to be off work. But I leave an hour early tomorrow in exchange. So no prob.
swampy, you have a bad attitude. Get your unemployed ass back to work!!! Ya bum!!
**Bumba **- how could you let such a charming potential employee get away?? Too bad you can’t hire the swampster.
Glad it’s almost Firday - it’s been one of those weeks. I’ve almost got my project done, no thanks to my cohort. He loves to write in a rather affected way, and I just edited his paragraphs back in to plain English. I refuse to write in governmentese. He also doesn’t think. I gave him the name of a bridge, but when I looked at a picture that he sent me, there were two bridges. Now, my first instinct was to check and make sure I’d identified the correct bridge. I hadn’t. But he didn’t know that because he just believed me. Silly man. Plus he sent me an old picture. I found a newer one that showed the bridge that we didn’t care about was knocked down. That’s something that’s good to know… Anyway, he’s annoying me in several ways.
Supper is chickie tits in BBQ sauce, steak fries, corn, and peas-n-carrots. Sounds semi-wholesome, no?
MOOOOOOM my bein’ employed is supposed to affect my attitude how?
Well, dang Bumba! Here I was thinkin’, I don’t have a tshirt with a demon on it but I do have one that says “Untamed Cycles” (BIL’s brother’s cycle shop) that has a skull with flames comin’ out of it on the back.
Ok, Mumpers I need prayers and good thoughts for JDD’s brother. He’s comin’ out of surgery as I post. He had to have a double colostomy. They also found a mass on his colon that’s been determined to be cancerous so he’ll also need to undergo chemo. He’s also a good friend and this is just so  and kind of sudden.
You know, I think my attitude would be better if I didn’t work. Of course, this assumption is made with the idea that there would still be plenty of money to live and pay bills.
Whew! It’s been a long couple of days. I’m glad they’re over. It’s my Friday today and I am damn glad!
Hugs and smooches to all. I read, but couldn’t retain much.
