Remember, they are “dark movies,” not necessarily horror (though most would qualify).
Some are straightforward, while others are horrible puns, and still others offer red herring details (especially the red and green M&Ms).
Most are verbal clues to the title, but a few are meant to evoke the content or theme of the movie. Of course, many times the two methods overlap (cf. Snakes on a Plane).
Mild hint for the guy with the lantern: this is really vague and stupid
Stronger hint: focus on the lantern - the guy is irrelevant
The mountain: This doesn’t include the full title of the movie
Red M&M: It’s not what he’s doing - just the things he’s using
The guys with the Os: Those are the letter “O,” not zeroes and it doesn’t really matter what they’re doing - just who they are
Telescope guy: the movie has no supernatural elements and the guy himself represents someone in the movie, not the movie’s title
Tunnel/doorway in lower right corner: it’s an adjectival phrase
Well, I eventually cheated, so I won’t say too much, but the telescope the guy is holding is completely irrelevant. I think the only reason he’s looking through it is that, to fit into the painting, he had to be doing something creepy.
Also, the “half-clues” I noted for the woman with two kids and the two guys on the stairs turn out to have been completely irrelevant, as well.
I’m currently sitting on 40 correct…the 10 I don’t have are liable to drive me nuts.
Apparent clues I’m missing:
The woman with two children.
The 3 kids dancing in a circle.
The red M&M.
The giant knife.
The jawbone.
The stairs and the guys on it. (I’ll take Chef Troy’s word for it that they’re two separate clues.)
The people with the Os.
The mountain.
The hole in the wall near Candyman, The Wicker Man and Eraserhead
The clues so far for the ones that have been clued haven’t helped.
They’re over on the right side. Make sure you’re scrolled all the way over. The butterflies are near the screaming man and the fish, the tunnel’s down near the candy cane, the man in the baskets, and the walking pencil.
As to the beetle…remember not all of them are horror movies, or even wholey serious.
It’s also what you can do by playing the game more than once and only putting down your best score. Also, don’t forget you can pause the game so you can still visually analyze the clues without running more time.
