What he said!!!
It’s been a very busy day for us and while I have read all, tiredness has happened.
I got up early, fully planning on going to a meeting today and after I was showered and dressed and made up, I got a text that someone couldn’t make it on time so the meeting was rescheduled. I was in the middle of washing all that shit off my face when the yard guy I had called showed up and hubs went out to tell him what hubs the plant hater wanted to have done.
I have a new plan for the front yard. I’m going to have a desert cypress planted in front of the master bedroom window and one in front of the hobby room window.
For those who haven’t lived around cypress trees, they are the evergreen cigar looking trees and don’t get much wider than six feet. Once they are established, they don’t need watering unless we go back into drought again. They are also birdy condos and looking into them will entertain the cats and me to no end.
Yes, I am grumpy.
Before we got married, we discussed children and religion and all of the things we thought would be important to have up front. We did not talk about trees and bushes and clover. That was a big mistake on my part.
After the plant mutilations were finished, hubs had a guy over to put timer switches on the vent fans in the bathrooms. He has IBS and leaves the vent fan going after he is done to help clear the air. He tends to forget about the fans, so I usually end up noticing that his bathroom door is closed and shutting the fan off.
Hubs recently read that many electrical fires are caused by vent fans that are left to run because they get dust in the works and whatever, so he wants timers on all of them. Including the ones we never use. Sigh. His father was his age when he would do that sort of thing.
I’ve got goosed by a goose when I was bending over trying to get a pack of cigarettes out of the pig’s mouth.
You win the internet. Seriously, I don’t think I will ever read something as !!! as that again.
Love to all, Imma gonna make some cheese. My hands hurt too much to stitch recently (I suspect it is the storms moving around) but I can stir warm milk to my heart’s content.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.
Imma gonna make some cheese.
And hubby makes beer. this makes this Wisconsin boy happy.

I WON absolutely nothing ON THE MEGAMILLIONS!!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 37 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 50 and N.O.S. for the day. The big items on today’s agenda are to make the dip and cheese thangs for the Epiphany partay and to attend said partay. It’s from two until five this afternoon, but we don’t necessarily plan to stay the whole time. A couple of hours is usually enough for us. There will be a lot of good munchy stuff, needless to say. That plus foragin’ if’n anything else is required will take care of any need to feed today.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then the makin’ of goodies must commence. I realize the partay will require me to don bein’ in the public attire, but I will not say to be amongst the great unwashed cause these are my co-parishoners so I assume they bathe on some kind of regular basis.
Happy Sattidy Y’all!
I spent 10 hours in bed with Mel and it was glorious!! Yeah, I was tahred, but I got me some good sleep and for the moment, I feel human again!!
I need to rotiss a chicken to take to MIL tomorrow, and as usual, there’s laundry. FCD mentioned maybe sorting thru the boxes of his dad’s tools in the shop - I’ll help him if he does that. Otherwise, I predict a day of much slothage. Or not - we’ll see how it plays out.
Happy Saturday!!
Good morning everyone.
It’s currently 46 degrees, with an expected high of 55. The day will cloudy to partly cloudy.
Sloth won out yesterday after I did some minor tidying. I then spent the day watching Netflix (the new Vikings series) and some other shows. I gave Polar his meds and took care of a couple of other minor chores during sloth too, but nothing too strenuous. Today I shall make up for my slothful ways.
I went to bed around 10:00 but didn’t sleep well again. I napped, I guess, and got out of bed around 4:30 this morning.
I hope you all have a pleasant day.
Good morning, folks.
It’s a cool 24F, and we’ll be getting up to a still cool 35F. It’s winter. It happens. The sun will be out.
I need to fold laundry, put away laundry, and put some laundry into the dryer. I already got the vacuuming done. Dusting, too. I need to straighten up the kitchen, too. Hubs will be getting home today, at some point. Leaving Monday morning, as usual. Dinner will be Ham & Bean Soup. For him, and daughter. I’ll be having a cabbage steak, I think. I’m craving it, and I don’t know why. Could be worse. I could be craving carbs.
Speaking of carbs, I made a ‘dessert’ that I happened across. Hubs and daughter will probably enjoy it. I’m not the least bit interested in it, personally. I’d rather have a bigass bag of plain Lay’s chips.
Anyway, you take slices of chocolate cake, and put a layer of them into a pan (I used a disposable aluminum, rectangle type pan, with high sides).
Then, add a layer of chocolate pudding (I went that extra bit, and made the chocolate pudding with chocolate milk).
Then, you add a layer of crushed Oreos.
On top of that, you place a layer of Cool Whip.
Then, you do it, again.
Top with a little bit of crushed Oreo sprinkles, toss it in the fridge, and boom. You’ve got whole lot of a diabetes-inducing snack.
Should be tasty, if you’re into that sort of thing.
I finished my coffee, and now it’s time to clean the toilet, and do the other stuff. I live such an exciting life. Ugh.
Have a good day.
My cats are both out of their furry heads. Both have DEMANDED to go outside, and Buddy insisted on staying out for a little while.
It is, of course, raining. Weather’s expected to get steadily worse for most of the day, too. Rain all day, wind’s due to pick up in an hour or two (which is going to do any remaining weakened trees in soggy soil SO much good), and the guessers think thunderstorms this afternoon. Yes, everything’s on chargers and the battery-powered lights are positioned for easy grabbing.

that’s called a trifle … moms version used bananas banana pudding chocolate pudding and nilla wafers in a huge glass bowl that looked like a wine glass that held about 12 layers … it was time-consuming and took a lot of stuff to make so she only made it 3 times a year if we were lucky
Should be tasty, if you’re into that sort of thing.
I have a serious love of chocolate, but that sounds like just a bit too much for me. Plus, frankly, I’m not a fan of crushed Oreos in anything - like cookies 'n cream ice cream - no thanks. I’ve got a recipe somewhere that uses a cream-puff type pastry spread in a rectangular pan, chocolate pudding, nuts, and cool whip - MIL used to make it for my birthday back in the old days. Just enough chocolate to give me a happy.
that’s called a trifle …
Not like any trifle my mom made - hers always had either Kahlua or rum mixed into one of the layers, and no cookies. I think it was like 37,000 calories per spoonful. ![]()

I’m showered and dressed more or less like an adult. First load of laundry is in the dryer, second in the washer. FCD just left for the apartment to get the paperwork he needs to settle his dad’s affairs. We won’t be working in the shop today, so I’m glad of that.
And now, to the kitchen to tend to a few other chores…
that’s called a trifle
I didn’t consider this a trifle. I make a trifle with strawberries, angel food cake chunks, French vanilla pudding, and whipped cream. This chocolate monstrosity is just that. A monstrosity. It’s just too much EVERYTHING. Ick.
FCM, yes. NOT my thing, either.
Morning all. Slept pretty well and now need to do a little more shopping and referee indoor soccer from 3-6pm, so a fairly busy day. Cool outside (32F), but supposed to get up to 55F tomorrow and at least no rain for the weekend.
ace, shady, whatever it’s called, I gained 600 calories just reading about it…
Seanette, y’all seen the guy with the animals 2 x 2? Stay safe.
doggio, won exactly as much as you did on the Megamillions…
swampy, enjoy the party.
JtC, trees sound nice (especially if you don’t have to rake leaves).
Sari, hope Ripple did find a place to lie down that he didn’t get trampled on.
OK, need to break fast and do a little shopping, everyone take care.
ace, that sounds like a church lady dessert. It makes enough to feed a crowd and has the prerequisite cool whip / pudding / oreos that works in a potluck sized serving.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Nelson had a good romp in the cold with his girlfriends (the standard poodles next door plus Charlie and Della, who were out with Miss Ann’s son). We all came in when the humans got too cold.
The only concrete things on the agenda today are picking up prescriptions and hitting the grocery outlet for some Jimmy Dean sausage (likely will pick up a few other things there too, but the JD is a good stand in for ground beef at my house and they’re running a sale @ $1.99 / lb).
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
This morning started in the wee hours with sick. Lager started the “fun” at 1:30am, then quarter to four, then 5. This is why the poor dude has been on the medical merry go round. Thankfully this time he just wanted to snuggle between rounds and not cycle.
Koritza decided to join in at 8 am. She gets sick with very little warning and she likes to be up high. I was not fast enough to get her down off the chair.
I will have to do cat laundry when I get home from the shopping trip. There will be swiffering of the floors. Huh, now I am writing get swifter things on the shopping list.
Some low life in Maine got my winning lottery ticket. Dammit. ![]()
Guess I’ll have to do my laundry myself instead of hiring someone to do it for me. Dammit.
Pressure around the eyes had me grabbing some Midol. Don’t need a retinal migraine episode today.
Load 2 (whites) of needed laundry is in the washer, load 1 (outerwear, including DH’s work clothes) in the dryer. I’d probably better grab load 3 (towels and bathmat) and get it on deck. Dishes have been run. I’ve still got a few hours before they’re calling thunderstorms, so should have time to finish laundry before that threat to power.
Cats are finally settling down, Allie in my desk chair, Buddy helping DH sleep. They are squabbly today. I got the Feliway and set it up yesterday, the instructions said it could take up to a week to notice any effect.
SMUD says they’re down to about 150 customers without power. Considering that a week ago, they were over 350 thousand, I’d say they’re making impressive headway. Probably not a lot of consolation to those last 150, though.
Happy Saturday!
It’s cold outside I’ve heard.
I don’t need to step foot outside until Toosday evening, so I don’t care.
We won’t be going to the park for awhile.
Cerby is supposed to be on rest until hump day.
Ripple gets his drain removed on hump day, but he still has a way to go before he can go to the park.
Echo will just have to suffer.
Ripple went upstairs with me; I knew he would. He also jumped up onto the bed. He slept a good bit of the night without even moving. Poor thing, I kept waking him up checking on him. He’s limping a little, and was starving this morning, but he’s in a happy mood.
My son is making me nuts worrying about Ripple.
Every time Ripple goes outside, my son goes out with him to make sure the other dogs don’t bump into him or try to lick his wound.
We’re supposed to keep a collar on Ripple so he can’t lick the wound, but he’s leaving it alone so I’m not too worried about it. He’s sleeping a lot anyway, let him be comfortable.
I went to bed just after 9, and slept until almost 8.
I think I needed it, although I was up every hour and a half or so checking on Ripple.
I know I was annoying him.
I’ve got a shit ton of stuff to do around here, especially laundry.
I’m going to try to get everything done over the next three days.
I have to figure out my schedule for the next few weeks, and get my money in order.
I have a bunch of phone calls to make, but they will have to wait until Toosday.
Both bathrooms need a good cleaning, my bedroom needs a good cleaning, all of the plants need tending.
I’ve been a sloth for over a week, time to get my ass in gear.
I’ve been a bzzy bear. Cheese thangs are made, and the holy moly dip is in the crock pot doin’ it’s thang. I use both ground beast (about a lb.) and snausage (about three fourths of one of those rolls of snausage), Jimmy Dean’s red when I make the dip. Thus, I used the rest of the snausage to make snausage gravy. I baked up some frozen bizkits (don’t judge!) and scrambled some aigs to go along with the bizkits and gravy. I feel so domesticated! There are some cheeze thangs in a small Tupperware like container for the spoiled brat to munch on, so he’s happy.
Holy moly dip is: about a pound of ground beast and some snausage (snausage is optional, I do it cause snausage), Velveeta cheeze (cause it’s not real cheese), and rotel maters. Brown the meat. Use a skillet for that, but y’all know that, right? Hunk up the cheeze and dump it in your crock pot. Dump the maters in with the cheeze. Melt all that down and then dump in the meat. Give it a good stir and let it set (sit?) on low until everything is all gooey and gloppy. I stir in some shredded white cheddar cheese cause I’m all fancy like that. Serve with those cute little dippy/scoopy corn chip thingys.
Thus endeth the cookin’ lesson.
A decent heave, and now it’s my weekend. Of course it’s cold, windy, and cloudy.
