A Stormy MMP

Glad you came back to play with us, Boo!

We were so dead-ass slow tonight, I friggin’ finally finished my gift project!
… plus we had a helluva fast close. I think there were maybe five orders the whole last hour.

(Cross posting from the “projects” thread, sue me.)

it might be open by now but I haven’t heard anything but one factor is they banned overnight camping due to people being assholes and messing things up

Alex Catt died unexpectedly tonight. I have a sad. :frowning:

:astonished:

I don’t even know what to say here. {{{dogbutler}}}

{{{{{doggio}}}}} I am so very sorry, that must have been such a shock so soon after losing Gordie too. I can’t imagine how much that must hurt :broken_heart:

what how… why … damn …we should change this to the “in mourning” mmp

also my condollences to the FCM family also

Oh, {{{doggio}}} - how sad!

I had a mostly decent sleep, despite some weird sleeping noises from FCD. He was so exhausted, it seemed even breathing was an effort. I have to wake him before 8 - he’s got to take his mom to the funeral home to do the inevitable paperwork. And I’ll be wrangling Tobias. My daughter is anticipating a normal day, excited at the prospect of seeing her son again - she was at the apartment Monday night and had a late meeting last night.

I may bundle Tobias out to Food Lion with me - they’ve got coke products at 4/$11 which is a major bargain these days. They limit you to 8 at a time - I’ll be making multiple visits to bolster our stock and get some for MIL. I’m also going to cook up the freezer burned london broil today - I expect it’s going to end up in soup, but we’ll see.

And, of course, there’s laundry…

Happy Wednesday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 37 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 73 and partly N.O.S. for the day. The big item on today’s agenda is to procure provisions. We don’t need a lot of stuff, so it shall be a quick trip to the Pubic sto’. I do have a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for shrimpies 'n grits, so we shall procure steamed shrimpies. That and bacon wrapped spare guts shall comprise sup. There will, of course, be the usual sloth and general overall uselessness.

{{{doggio}}} I am so sorry about Alex Catt. The Loud Beast and The Sharp Angry Puppy are together again over the rainbow bridge.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas, alack, and oh so much bother, I suppose I must needs purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Woe.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Oh, my goodness! I am so terribly sorry. I have a sad on your behalf.

that’s the best prices I’ve seen in a year in a half …if shipping wasn’t a fortune id send ya a 20 or two to send us some …

{{{doggio}}} I’m so sorry for your loss.

It’d be cheaper!

I’m so very sorry to hear this. I send you, and everyone that loved Alex Catt, my most sincere condolences.
Sending you gentle hugs, {{dogbutler}}.

Good morning, folks.

I’m hoping everyone is doing well, and good, this morning. Things are ok around here, so far, anyway.

It’s 42F, which isn’t too bad! Supposed to get up to 52F. Again, not bad! Windy, though, they say. Fine with me. I’ll take it. It’s supposed to be cloudy all day, but no rain until tomorrow.

I’m craving salad. So, that’ll be my dinner. I guess. I’ll be doing the grocery shopping tomorrow, and I’m going to get myself a cabbage. I’m also craving cabbage steaks. Fart Blossoms, too. I need to add them to my list. I suppose craving greens is better than craving sweets, so, I’ll just run with that thought.
Since I’ll be out, and about, tomorrow, I should probably go pick up my Rxs that are ready, too. Make a day of it. They stopped doing the curbside pick up. So, I have to go inside the actual damned Walmart, now. I’m really disliking that. I may change pharmacies to a drive thru place. Maybe CVS, or Walgreens. Always something.

I’ve had my infusion of coffee, already. I guess I need to get started on the hovelwork. Roll-sucking is on the agenda. Such joy.

Have a good mid-week day.

{FCM} Add me to the chorus who are very sorry to hear about your FIL. I went through a similar event with my Mom in '21. When frustrated about finding the right thing to do, an old preacher advised me thusly: “There’s no right way to get through this, you just muddle through as best you can. Try to help, but understand it can’t be enough.”

IME, the funeral home will handle the death certificates. It might be wise to order extra official copies when they ask, at least 10 or more. In our case, when Social Security got the death certificates, they quickly and efficiently cancelled payments to both my Mom and my (still living) dad. Then somehow informed the pension office from his former workplace and they canceled all payments too. The extra death certificates were instrumental in eventually proving to the various bureaucracies that only one of them had died. Hopefully you won’t go through this, but a friend had advised us to get extras, and we were glad to have them.

As to mumpering: Good morning all, 65F here and supposed to be 85 this afternoon. Weird for January but not unheard of 'round these parts.

I’m finally emerging from the plague and can walk and talk like normal. No fever or headaches or coughs (well, just a little) anymore and I can get out and around. Whew, that was a hell of a thing and I don’t want to go through that again. Mizpullin keeps testing negative, so somehow she dodged this bullet (or had it asymptomatically before me and we never knew – is that possible?).

The truck wreck repair (remember from back in Thanksgiving?) continues to languish. I finally became unpleasant again yesterday and got all the parties to finally talk to each other (insurance agents, claims folks, and repair shop). They changed their collective minds yet again and declared “Our bad, we decided it’s a total loss now!” This has gone back and forth for over a month with one faction favoring repair and another wanting to total it and get me out of their hair (I guess). I swear they’re probably just flipping a coin at this point, but I can now get started again. Today to the body shop to get an actual report from someone who can tell me what needs done (the mechanic, not a manager), and I’ll decide whether to accept their money and repair it, or surrender it and shop for a replacement. Thankfully I’m well enough now to travel around the area and get these errands done. I still have a sizable set of mods (aux tanks, crane, ladder, cover, guards, etc.) that were removed from the truck and are taking up space in various mechanic’s shops. Much of this requires heavier hoists that I have at home to lift and reinstall, so I have to decide what happens with this equipment as well. If I must order a new truck, some of it may not be usable on the replacement.

I told my wife yesterday it’s no wonder so many people end up suing. They get tired of waiting on bureaucrats to make a decision and just go for the nuclear option.

On to the week… If I test negative again tomorrow I’ll start rescheduling my physical therapy on my neck and back (because of… you know… the wreck?). And I’ll try to finish all the pills the docs gave me for plague-riddance. Some of these are huge, but I’ll finish them as instructed. The good news is I’ve really got my appetite back now, and am enjoying food again. Tasting things is good, yannno?

While I was down with plague, the icemaker overflowed and covered part of the freezer with frozen icicles. Cleaned all that yesterday and tried to reinstall the icemaker (after thawing it). Turns out the valve which fills it each time doesn’t close all the way, and the port at the top just rains water onto the food. So I shut it off at the spigot and will try to call the repairman and see if it can be fixed. Right now I’m too busy to replace it, so I grabbed some old ice trays and am managing the old-fashioned way for a while. No biggie as I have no coolers to fill this time of year.

Hope everyone has a better week from here on out. Looks like we could all use it.

Morning all. Double-nickles (55)F heading for the 60’s, but rain is due tonight and tomorrow, so best get my errands run today. Did some online shopping last night and have the items I need at Wal-mart I.D.'ed by rows, so shouldn’t take too long. Paper rescued and pill taken (without the MMP as a reminder, have no idea how many doses I would have forgot).

{{{doggio}}}, I am so sorry about AlexCatt; so many of the Mumper Pets feel like part of the community here that losing one of them does have an effect; my deepest condolences.

yanker, glad your doing better and hopefully get a final resolution to the truck; just keep beating on them (verbally!!) until you have a firm deal you can proceed with.

FCM, agree with shady, prices for Pepsi (Coke too) have been around 4-$14 (I’m talking 12 packs here) and haven’t seen cheap prices like that for some time; so stock up.

Yeah, it’s been a bit of a downer, and it’s only Wednesday…

shoe, nice work; hope business picks up a little bit, just to keep you gainfully employed.

Sari, nice story about Lucy’s dad, I suspect once his mourning is over, he’ll be looking around for another canine soul to help.

Well, actually, I looked this morning and my Thrift Savings Plan check is in there, so that is a few more Benjamins… But I still want to clear up the Tru-Green Mystery.

Wet one, didn’t know Which Wich did Cheeseburgers…may have to give them a visit (not massively fond of their subs, however).

OK, need to finish to morning internettin’, get some fairly Instant Breakfast into me, and be about the day. All y’all take care.

:crying_cat_face:

{{{doggio}}}. Alex Catt was part of the Mumper fambly.

metal mouse. It’s not a true cheezeboiger, more like a Philly steak sandwich. So good.

I am so sorry doggio.
