A strangely early MMP

It’s tricky to rock a rhyme that’s right on time.

(It’s too quiet)

That’s the exact sound! How’d you know?

I’m awake again, of course…I’d like to sleep another hour at least. Also, I’d like for it to stop raining as that is NOT helping.

GT

Oh dear, GT, I’m sorry to hear about the leak. It looks like it’s still raining here, too.

Good morning all, up and caffeinating here. Oh yeah, and two down, three to go!

{{{{Spaz}}}} - so sorry about your cham. (even if the thought of a cham makes me squeamish Heh). And congrats, Eels on the new job!

Happy hump day all.

{{{Spaz}}} – so hard to lose a pet :frowning:

{{{GT}}} – hope it’s a small fix. Still sucks to have it overnight and lose all morning because of it.

{{{McUNE}}} – there’s still time; here’s hoping they offer you something better than going back into the Steno Pool!

**Elly **-- yay on the new job!

Swampy, **Donkey **-- aren’t you going to give beebs a few make-up smooches, too?

**Haze **-- how many books are there, really? And how much would renting some storage space for a year cost? It may be worth it, at least for some of the books. Or not. I have no idea what the cost of long-term storage is, just throwing the idea out there!

Good morning, Ivory. Just because

Eeek! Someone catch him!
Morning, everyone. More rain here today. That will make Mr. Lissar happy. He loves rain.

Attacks Husband is pissed because it’s his birthday on Friday, and he’s being given the gift of high humidity and 31C, according to the weather report. Both of us ought to move somewhere that never gets warm.

We’re off to Costco today, plus associated other chores. I will not buy anything stupid. I will not buy anything stupid. I do not need a whole box of cream puffs or four pints of Ben and Jerry’s.

Don’t be silly, of course you do!
I am currently in meltdown/panic mode and I thought that perhaps stopping by here might calm me down a bit. I wasn’t in a very good frame of mind when I woke up and then my stomach decided to start protesting, which made me late for work. And as I was on my way to work I got another lunch for 30 people! So, now I’m extremely behind and I called my dad who will hopefully be here to soon to help dig me out of my litte hole. Also, I needed to go to the grocery store this morning, but didn’t go because I was crying. Ugh. Hopefully I can send him there.

Afternoon all. Just skimmed the last 3+ pages. Busy but bored, tired and have a headache. Pronouns missing in action.

{{{{{MMP}}}}}

You can’t catch me, I’m powered by corned beef and cabbage, and a late night/early morning snack of chips and salsa.

  • streaks the other way *

Oh, here’s my salsa recipe:

  1. Go to store
  2. Buy salsa
  3. Eat salsa, preferably with chips

Well, I’ve been on the tall stepladder and inspected the area nearest my bedroom window. (Yes, I was alerted to this problem by a drip (non-human) next to me on the bed. That was very freaky.) One little section of the fascia has slipped about an inch (just looked it up to make sure I’m using the right term; I think I’m right, it’s the vertical piece above the siding that meets up with the roof). Am about to go up to the attic to see if there’s anything I can do to keep it from dripping through the crack in the ceiling. It’s supposed to be raining most of the day, which is NOT GOOD, of course. Also, my gutters need cleaning (and really need to be replaced, I think.

Based on the weather map there should be a break in the rain pretty soon; I’m hoping I can go de-goop the gutters when that happens.

Once I’m done with the attic, I’ll start calling roofers. I looked a bunch up on the Better Business Bureau web site while I couldn’t sleep, so I have phone numbers at the ready.

Anyone with applicable experience out there who can give me advice? (I’m going to start a thread when there’s a break in the action.)

Back with further reports in a bit.

morning!

Off to school for my kids…

Yeah  Eels !!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up, caffienated, brekkied and ready for work. I may end up comin’ back home to do some work stuff if it’s too crazy there. I have a bunch of apps to listen (voice apps, duh!) to and sometimes it’s easier to just do it at da cave cause it’s quieter. We shall see.

All who need feel betters, here they are.

gt you should call your insurance company. The company may want to send an estimator over to have a look at the roof. It’d be a good thing and this could be someone who could recommend ya some reputable roofers as well. Good on ya for checkin’ out roofin’ companies with the BBB.

Later Y’all!

Up and off to work.

Pie, I would, if I could find a babysitter.

Yay Eels!

{{{{Spaz}}}

Good luck with the roof, gt.

Yay for Eels!

{{{Pie}}}

I’m doing ok this morning - got a lot more sleep last night. My son came over and helped me cook dinner - we made jambalaya. It was yummy!

Yesterday I scheduled my gall bladder surgery. June 17 at 8:00 am. Better to get it over with, I suppose.

Happy Hump Day, Mumpers!

I am having waaaay too much fun with this page .

Some of you old-timer Mumpers might recall the tale from late last summer when my neighbor Fred was bleeding from his rectum. The ambulance was called, I heard the page, and I beat everyone else there 'cuz I live across the road.

Last night, I went to bed early because I wuz tahred as hell. I was so out of it that when the phone rang a little after 11, it barely registered. VWife rousted me, and told me Fred was calling for me. I fumbled around a bit, and managed a barely coherent conversation.

“My wife fell. Can you come over and help get her up?”

“Is she OK?”

“We need help getting her up.”

“I’ll be right there.”

Hmmm. An 80 year old woman falls in her house. She’s probably hurt, but he didn’t say so. I assumed he was right, so I just grabbed my wallet, and on an afterthought, my radio. I left all my medical tools there, as well as my trauma bag in my car, on the benefit of the doubt.

Bad move. Sarah was on the floor of the back door to their kitchen, covered in blood and unable to move her left leg. She had tripped and fallen, hitting her head on a refrigerator, and wrenching her knee. The blood was from a tooth that was knocked loose. She had previously fallen in early April, and was most of the way recovered from the resulting fractured kneecap. She could not flex her knee, but could wiggle her toes and ankle, so MAYBE she didn’t re-break it.

After a quick trauma check, Scott (the son) and I picked her up. She tried to stand with her walker, but couldn’t, so we set a kitchen chair behind her and sat her down. In the elapsed 5 minutes, her knee had visibly grown. I asked her what she wanted to do. Like many elderly patients I’ve dealt with, she was embarrassed because she was being a bother, and couldn’t make up her mind. When patients do this, it’s aggravating as hell. Blood could be spurting from a severed jugular, but they won’t go to the hospital because they don’t want to waste the doctor’s time. Gaaaah.

Scott and I convinced her that because her knee was re-injured to the point she could not use it, she needed to go to the hospital. OK, she said. Then came the debate of where, because most of her regular doctors were affiliated with Bugtussel, but her orthopedic guy was elsewhere. I suggested going to the second, but that was eventually overruled. Then came the big question: how to get her there. I gave her two choices: I’d drive her personally in my van, or I’d get the ambulance. She finally decided on the ambulance, because she didn’t think she could get in and out of any kind of passenger vehicle.

That settled, I called to have the ambulance crew paged, then got busy documenting medical history and stuff. I caught some grief for it from the crew, because all I could find to write on was an old grocery bag. I hope Kevin turned that in with the regular report…

Kevin and Billy, the Rescue chief showed up. We loaded Sarah on the stretcher and got her out to the unit, and splinted her knee for the ride. They transported her to Bugtussel, Fred and Scott followed, and I went back to bed about 12:30.

Where the HELL is my caffeine?

In other news, the shooter from Sunday is still at large. Dumb as he may be, he’s still outsmarting the Sheriff’s Department. Also this morning, I saw trash strewn across my yard from the trash trailer. I think we had a bear come calling last night…

The world would be a better place if we all lived across he street from a VB.

What a guy.

Am up and facing the day. Last day of school for the boys. [del]Princess[/del] Daughter has been out for a week.

Need to go to bank, seeing as how #1 son must pay this woman $20 to scuba dive in the quarry on her property. This woman must be making mucho bucks–$20 a day, so really it’s $40, as he needs to return on Friday as well. For this he gets the privilege of using a port-a-potty if needed.

Need to do some gardening today before the heat hits. Work tomorrow and Friday and then driving to Memphis for 2 days, after I get the boys ready for camp.
I have resigned myself to insanity for the next 3 weeks.

Paging Beebs and the other Mumpers in and near Beantown: there are rumblings of me going your way on bidness sometime late July or early August. Howzabout a mini Dopefest?
