Dotty I’m so jealous. I want it to be the weekend too.
It seems like a lot of people are quite hooked on the Kushiel books with mixed results. Are they worth reading? (Probably getting from the library.)
McUne if it’s not too much work, will you add a beverages section to the recipe blog for all of the yummy sounding Sangria recipes. Pretty please?
Rigs I’m sorry to hear about TH. ((((Rigs)))) Oh and tell your son to watch out for the blue gill-- no one fishes in that quarry so they’re all over the frickin’ place. I was nipped 9 times by those friggin’ fish. They have no fear of people and are used to being fed. If he brings a can of squirt cheese (like easy cheese), they’ll go nuts for it. It makes things interesting. (I grew up in Bradley, IL, btw.)
Cheap red wine, one liter. The pseudo wine that goes in cartons works. Don’t bother using the good stuff, it’s not worth it.
The juice of one or two Navel oranges (depending on their size), or of two Navelinas.
Opt. the juice of half a lemon.
As much soda water (Casera if you can get it) as juices, in volume (it can be less, specially if you’re adding liquor).
Opt. half a glass of brandy, white herbal liquor or rhum (about 1/3 what the total juices were in volume). This option is most often used by people who are also adding the lemon.
Let it stand in the fridge to cool.
Rinds, ice, glazed sugar on the edge of the jar, etc. added as decoration before serving, to taste.
{{Shadow}} I keep meaning to tell you that I used a bunch of the yarn you sent me to knit a scarf, which I just finished, and it looks great. I think I’m going to give it to my MIL. I’ll post a picture sometime. So thanks for the yarn.
It’s still crappy weather here too. Who took the sun??
My pot roast was dry last night. But the flavor at least was pretty good.
I’ve got a serious case of the Don Wannas today. And my manager’s out at least for the morning. So that’s not helping at all. Blergh. I think my group should make a coffee run.
Home for today’s estimate. This guy has a much different opinion than yesterday as to the source of the leak. He’s caulking (for free!!!) the spots he thinks are the problem. He’s got lots more experience than yesterday’s guy, so I’m inclined to believe him. We’ll see what the estimate looks like. In the meantime, I’ve decided to take my time and get more estimates (I have one scheduled for tomorrow, one for Tuesday and two who will call me to tell me when they’re coming out.)
I’ve made lunch and am now heading back to work. Woo hoo.
Morning, all. So far it’s a nice day, but apparently that will change this afternoon. More storms. Yippee and hooray.
I hope Aerin feels better soon, LiLi.
Yay for graduation/end of school/summer for those who are celebrating! I remember those lovely days when school was out and the world stretched endlessly ahead of me with nothing to do but have fun. I’ve often wondered what it’s like as an adult; probably not nearly as much fun, I suspect.

Everybody else have a good day, okay? I’m going to try to actually work a full day today. We shall see how that goes.
I’m feeling cheerful but rushed this AM, cheerful due to attending Grandkid’s end of school music recital last night and I have to say Jr did brilliantly–of course. He played with the beginning band and he’s also a part of the school rock band, Trogdor. He drummed on Billy Joel’s “Still Rock & Roll To Me” and was totally channeling Animal, even going so far as to kick over his cymbal at the end. We have GOT to get him off this Led Zeppelin/Who kick he’s been on lately or it’s gonna get expensive! They also did an incredible version of Decemberist’s “The Mariner’s Revenge,” complete with accordion player–there are some incredibly talented kids at that school.
Rushed because I have an early-ish meeting with some financing people so I gotta jet–I will insist on posting pictures of Jr later because it’s what Grandma’s DO!
Hugs to you all, hope Aerin kitteh gets her butt fixed and Rigs’ sitch works out okay–fingers crossed!
Howdy Y’all! Sneakin’ in a lunchtime post. I’m eatin’ grilled chicken sallit as I post cause I’m all multitask like. Plus readin’ the Dope is a perfect way to spend lunch.
Think I’ll go check out all the sangria recipes. Ima go buy stuff to make sangria this evenin’. I wanna make it tomorrow night and let it set overnight in the fridge. MMMMMMMMM… sangria by the pool on Sattidy!
Depends. Do you like alternate European history? Do you like porn? Do you like BDSM porn?
I had an unpleasant surprise when I got up this morning. I walked into the bathroom and there was a frickin’ tarantula sitting in front of the toilet.  I woke up completely and quickly, walked back into my bedroom, found the nearest hardcover book and dropped it right on the invader. Then I had to clean it up.
Stupid wolf spiders. They’re not supposed to invade until the fall.
I’d rather go bare-legged and flash the general populace than wear leggings. I tried wearing bicycle shorts with the dress yesterday and it worked okay. I’d like them to be a bit shorter and tighter though.
So I’m off to look for boyshorts. See y’all round.
Huzzah. The caf had edible food today in the form of meat lasagna. I am overjoyed.
Also, it just occurred to me that today is my Firday, because I have tomorrow off to make up for working on Sunday. More overjoyousness ensues. (sadly, I will probably spend most of the day waiting on the UPS guy to show up with the replacement for my Blackberry… grrrr)
Spaz, ick. Seriously. ICK. I’m so glad that our climate doesn’t seem to be conducive to giant-sized bugs, because they totally squick me out.
