A Substitute fun MMP(now elbow free!)

Fusetender 3rd Class Ethilrist, reporting for irk. Sitting here waiting for something to break so I can page somebody and say “Hey, it broke.”

Well, I didn’t. But I did just spend $60 on two t-shirts for my mom and a bathing suit for me. So, all in all that was a better deal!

As far as clothes in general go, despite my size, I’ve almost* always been of the ‘if you’ve got it, flaunt it’ mindset. So, I tend to flaunt it when I’m not working. Maybe some day I’ll grow out of this phase.

*I do seem to remember, though, when I got to my lowest adult weight ever that I was dressing much more conservatively. Probably just the fact that I was in love with Eddie Bauer clothes at the time.

My hand-eye coordination just broke. I somehow managed to spill a large amount of ice water down my shirt just now.

Ethyl I’m curious. After you call somebody to say “Hey, it broke”, does that person in turn call somebody and say, “Hey, it broke, go fix it”? Cause that sounds like the way it should go after it breaks.

Gonna go throw steaks on the grill shortly as I am commencin’ to be hongry and so is OYKW. We can’t just go wastin’ away now can we?

I hope you have good aim.

Most places I’ve worked, they seem to have figured out that just passing the “Hey, it broke” message down the line until it reaches the bottom of the totem pole is not such a good idea and costs money. Now, when we tell somebody something broke, it’s either the guy who fixes it, or that guy’s boss, who will be standing over the guy who fixes it until it’s fixeded.

Correction, one shirt for Sticky’s Mom & one (dry) shirt & bathing suit for Sticky :stuck_out_tongue:

Did a big grocery shop yesterday, and of course discovered when I got home I’d forgotten to add some fairly important stuff to the list, so must shop again once the car’s available (the local bus system does not inspire confidence that I could get frozen goods home still frozen). DH had to work today (second Saturday in a row this has happened, but we can use the extra money), two hours earlier than his normal shift.

Made four pounds of hamburger patties that are now freezing and awaiting further packing. Also made a load of meatloaf, also now freezing. Only remaining ground-beef processing involves the batch now browning, that is destined to be drained, crumbled, and packed in plastic freezer boxes for recipe use.

Gas prices in my area trending downward (at least until Sandy provides an excuse for price hikes), which is good. Weather’s quite nice today, too. Sorry I can’t teleport any of you over here out of Sandy’s way.

Also got to get some stuff ready for church tomorrow (read lessons, make sure I’ve got class materials, etc.).

It’s a good thing Sandy is coming near Halloween. In watching TV news since yesterday I am now going to buy a chicken costume, decapitate myself, & run around because they are inciting me to
P A N I C ! ! !

as it’s the storm of the [del]century[/del] all recorded history!
If I lose power, I might freeze to death (despite the fact the heater isn’t even on) & might not be able to get out [del]for weeks[/del] til next July 4th. The mayor of Philadelphia held a press conf yesterday. "If your home has flooded before, get out NOW! (well but 2pm on Sunday despite the storm isn’t supposed to *start *until about 4pm on Sun.)

Gotta run to the store: flashlights, batteries, bottled water, French Toast fixin’s & poop paper.

Spidey don’t forget the cookies. One cannot meet one’s doom without cookies!

Dindin is et. Sallit, steak, shrimps, roasted N.O.T. 'n onions and cheesey bread. I stood ten feet out in da yahd and tossed the steaks right onto the grill StickyBuns. :stuck_out_tongue:

Plus there’s ice cream.

Life. Is. Good.

Yay, something broke!

Breakage is good?

Well, no, but it’s something to do. I got to create a ticket and look stuff up and call a couple numbers and leave a voicemail, before our boss’s boss’s boss got involved and started emailing :frowning: to people to indicate her displeasure.

:smack: I didn’t gets cookies. (Other than the 4 packages in the basement)
Swampy, can I goes to my doom wit ice cream (& pudding)? We’ve got lots of those since Jr is now tonsilless.

In other news, I raced this morning. On one of the laps, I noticed a pair of hot pink & black thongs hanging from a tree branch alongside the trail. This wasn’t anywhere near the parking lot. I don’t know if someone hung them for the race or is there a more interesting story behind how they got there, like are these the woods from the Wizard of Oz?

Electric bill just came in, and it’s already dropped a third due to the cooler weather, whoohoo! Every little bit helps  We got an offer from our landlady <who is MrTao’s ex mother-in-law> to reduce our rent drastically if it would help us out. That was really, really sweet, but even if I got full-time work starting tomorrow, we wouldn’t be much better off in six months if we stuck around, so…we’re sticking with the original plan. They won’t have ANY trouble renting the place out, and I know they can use the money, too. Plus MrTao can help HIS folks out a little while he stays with them, so all in all, it’s best for us to just bite the bullet. It was REALLY nice to have that option though, that was VERY sweet of them.

MrTao and I went to the air-show for a bit this afternoon, and got to see what the Royal Air Force uses, a Chinook. I love the smell of the big planes, and it was interesting to notice that theirs smells much different than ours; I’m assuming a different kind of oil. They train here, locally, in preparation for Afghanistan. Apparantly it’s pretty damn close to the real thing, and they said that at night you can’t even tell the difference.

Tonight’s dinner shall be carne asada; for all the mexican places here that make their own, very famous carne asada, so far I prefer Costco’s the best. I just really love the flavor, it is SO good!

This is assuming I have any room left after eating these Lindor Balls that MrTao brought home as well, grrr…

PLAAFP

Anyone here know what a PLAAFP is? I do now because I googled it but I find it kind of funny that it’s on this test of everything that you must know to become a teacher and I’ve honestly never heard that term once in my last three years as a student.
In other news, dinner was tasty, quasi-fajitas with fruit punch.

Costco has that? Is that in the meat section or frozen?

Like as in a 5K?

I wanted to walk a 5K on Thanksgiving day but my doctor said no until my knee is fixed. They are having a 1 mile fun walk at the same place so I might just do that.

… shoes or underwear? :dubious:

I thought underwear too, but I am thinking shoes.
So I’ll refrain from my own ‘undies in the tree story’. :stuck_out_tongue:
'cause I certainly wouldn’t leave flip-flops hanging around, pfft.
