A Superb Owl MMP

Howdy Y’all! We have slothed and continue to sloth. At some point sup will get made and et and then we will sloth some more. Have I mentioned lately how much I love bein’ a retired drain on society?

Rocker glad Philly did not get destroyed by marauding mobs of celebrants last night. I wonder if KC survived.

My nephew and his family live in KC. I haven’t heard that he needed to be bailed….

My cousin sent me a photo of her son at the Super Bowl. He wasn’t a spectator. He helped set up for the half-time show. In the photo, he’s standing just off the field. Nice to get paid for being there, I guess.

I’m going to work out hard and long today as penance for eating too much lately. Oh, and my new sneakers should arrive. I go through 3-4 pairs a year. I tell myself it’s still cheaper than having to buy gas. I like to pretend I have a choice.

doggio, I looked up the Farmer’s Dog commercial and got all the feels. So sweet! I also watched the other SB commercials on YouTube. I thought they were all pretty lame.

Once when my daughter and I were standing on our front lawn, a Great Horned Owl swooped about two feet over her head. It was HYUUUGE and a big thrill. It frequently hung out in the cottonwoods across the road. I never hear them where I live now. One of the things I miss…

Thanks for reminding me I have to start on my taxes, FCM. Ugh.

Maybe try another brand? I easily get a year out of the Reebok Princess.

I enjoy owls, especially burrowing owls, which are diurnal and thus easier to see. We’ve had good viewings in Ecuador and Aruba. I’ve seen great horned owl in Montana and two short-eared owls on Kauai.

Thanks for the recommendation! I put in a lot of miles on my sneakers–over 200 miles per month. You’re supposed to replace sneakers every 500 miles, and I find if I wear them much longer than 3 months, my feet and legs can tell. Due to foot issues, I usually buy Brooks XX wide. They’re pricey but really well constructed.

I must have some sort of accent that makes “Stay on I-70” sound like “Sure, if your GPS takes you off on a state road, why not??” FCD had his GPS set for shortest rather than fastest and he called me from somewhere in the middle of nowhere in western PA wanting to know what to do. He was closer to I-68 than to 70, so I directed him there. What gets me is not 3 weeks ago, he looked at the map and gave his aunt directions, which included staying on I-70 till it hit I-270 into DC. SMH

I just finished raking up a bunch of sticks in the yard. I left some for another day, because I’m tired and sweaty. I know the mower will chop up a lot of them, but some were a bit more substantial than I like to mow over.

Speaking of mowing - I need to get FCD to take our mower to Amish Dave for service before mowing season. I’m pretty sure we’ll need new blades at least.

OK, time for some chillage.

While sweeping the kitchen floor a former co-worker called so I walked with him, just 1.84 miles today, he had an appointment he needed to get to.

Now that the snow has melted and the temp was actually up to 52* this afternoon, Hubs put away the nativity set that was set up in front of the house on the lawn.

I’ve checked to be sure that the location that sells the absolute best blueberry pies in the world will be open tomorrow so that we can stop in on our way to Chicago. They’re in PawPaw, MI and will be open. Yay!

Also, sent out an email request for a lector sub for Sunday. I’ve known about this about at least a month but am kind of a procrastinator. At least it’s sent 6 days in advance so I’m sure a sub will step forward.

Now need to do some dishes then get packing, both food and clothes.

As a hiker, I know that Brooks are one of the best shoes. They can be worn for normal everyday walking around or for non-technical hiking. One of the best shoe fitters on the Appalachian Trail recommended them to me. So, I bought Brooks Dyad for everyday and Hoka Speedgoat for backpacking.

I’m with y’all on the Brooks sneakers. They were recommended to me by Fleet Feet and they have definitely made a difference.

Irked, came home, walked the dog and et. It wasa below freezing when I walked Nelson this morning and 70F when I came home. Ma Nature needs to take her meds.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

In the “you probably don’t hear this sentence in normal households” category, I just asked Buddy “why are you licking my computer?”

He didn’t explain himself.

Howdy Y’all! We stopped sloth long enough to fix and eat sup and then clean the kitchen. We are now back to sloth. All that activity wore us out! I have a special meal planned for VD. I am sure all of you will be on pins and needles until I reveal it tomorrow mornin’.

MOOOOOOM life is so hard for the directionally challenged. Hope he’s not so far off track that it’s really late when they get there. My yahd is lookin’ a bit shabby and should be mowed soon. AAARRRGGGHHH!

Cat_Glove did you alert the PTB that make sure folks are scheduled for services? Trust me, TPB will be over folks to step up. As I am the PTB for that at my church, I know of which I speak.

Nettie perhaps Buddy knows that the ‘puter makes all the goodies show up and so by lickin’ it he is summonin’ forth the goodies.

Expecting a little snow, so I have a fire burning with dry and damp wood, aside of which I can set wet wood to dry. Catboi is pleased.

My doc appointment was switched to telehealth, so I’ve rescheduled it for a few weeks out. It’s a med check, essentially, and the new date is closer to when I want to talk about prescriptions and labs anyway.

He called from the DC beltway wanting to know what exit to take. Um, the same exit we’ve been taking for 18 years… I just don’t get it.

I guess he’s about dropping off his mom any time now. Hope he calls when enroute here. And I hope he gets here soon.

How’s Higgs? Is she feeling any better?

I did not rip the cork of my new bourbon bottle in half. Yay!

When I got to go to Pittsburgh(and got to me Ruble), I let my friend C navigate. We ended up at the Philly city limits. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Not to be confused with Canadian Dave or Swearing Dave

Leftover homemade clam chowder for dinner.

Mmm, bourbon n clam chowder…

I do have some Knob Creek and Maker’s Mark…

Road trip!

There are no signs of mice or any other infestations in our outbuildings. We do have a whole bunch of stuff we will never use again and should be given away but hubs just can’t manage to let go. Oh well, we have plenty of room and the rodents aren’t chewing it up, so whatever.

I knew who won the stoopid bowl as soon as it was over. Not because I was watching the game, or any sort of news show, oh nonono. I was innocently doing some mindless monster mashing in Diablo when the general chat went nutz. So much for avoiding all the hoorah going on in the Valley.

When Mom and I were in Tucson, we saw a couple of big owls at the resort. The cheerful golfcart guy told us that there were several breeding couples on the grounds (with names and complete histories and parentage). I’m sure we have owls here but I’ve never seen one.

I’ve been seeing a bunch of robins lately which makes me happy. We have a deep bird bath and a shallow one, both of which have been freezing at night. In the morning, I go out and break up the ice when I give the yard flock their breakfast. Robins appear to like ice baths because I never see them bathing in the afternoon when the water has warmed up.

We recently figured out that the tiny monthly payment I get from my time working for a county in California has included income taxes to both California and Arizona. In our defense, I only started pulling that money back in December so we didn’t lose the money, we only loaned it to the state.

I was able to change tax deductions online, but now I’ve got to figure out if I really want to spend the time filing California taxes for less than twenty bucks. I probably will because what else do I have to do this time of year, but I will grump about it for months. Maybe I’ll let hubs deal with it, he needs some new things to grump about and my morning routine tends to tai-chi the grumps right out of me.

I’ve never understood why people riot over sports games instead of the price of tickets. The nosebleed tickets this year were SIX GRAND!!! I don’t want to know what the good seats cost, I’d turn white as a ghost and pass the fuck out.

Did you love the clear blue sky? The weather was perfect, so hopefully all those folks who paid a lot of money to be there had a good day.

Thanks to the warnings I had tissues handy for the Farmers Dog commercial. I used them.

Do your fingers smile when you touch those luscious fabrics? Batik fabrics have wonderful body that just flow through the hands.
