A Superb Owl MMP

The wind is blowing hard here. I’m glad it’s dark so I don’t see the trees reeling like drunks after last call. My new sneakers arrived. It’s ridiculous how happy new sneakers make me.

My daughter called. She gave notice at her current job. Her boss was bummed but understands she needs more money. Her last day will be the day before she starts the new job. She wanted a day or two between, but she doesn’t want to leave her current job in the lurch, as her last day is Deadline.

This not only cracked me up, but I laugh every time I think of it.

There’s a meal that cures VD? Penicillin mousse with a Bactrim reduction? Can’t wait to find out tomorrow!

Well, it’s Elijah Craig Bourbon. My rye is Knob Creek

Leaving aside the actual article, here’s a startling headline:

Even for the 2020s, that headline is bizarre.

It might belong in the “worst (or best) snack food” category.

:rofl:

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

@JaneDoe42

Absolutely! The fabric for the BOM class we have almost finished is cheap, thin, stretchy and frays if you even breath on it. This stuff is a delight. It is a year away, but I can not wait to snuggle up under the completed quilt. This is definitely going on the bed rather than the completed quilt pile

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 36 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 71 and N.O.S. for the day. Today is laundry day and VD! Will my heart be able to take all the excitatement! I’ve been told I should not go around wishin’ folks happy VD, but it amuses me. I do have a special sup planned, however, We shall have steak, shrimpies, bacon wrapped spareguts, twice baked N.O.T., sallit and rolls. For desert we shall have Eyetalian cream cake (I’m makin’ the sheet cake version), and strawberries dipped in chawklit. Plus we’ll have champagne. Does that sound all romantical or what!

MOOOOOOM I trust FCD made it home safe and sound and did not call to say he was lost and in Vermont.

JtC glad there are no meeses in your outbuildings.

Nellie you simply must share your mousse recipe!

Lily ummm… I just don’t know what to think. Well, except that that headline is too bizarre not to share!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day!

Happy Tuesday Y’all! Happy VD to those inclined to celebrate. Here’s a little VD poem.

I’m sending my nose to Arizona;
I’m sending my liver to Peru;
I’m sending my kidney to Sydney;
but, I’m sending my heart to You!

Our standing joke is St. Augustine, not Vermont. Eons back when he was going to college in Jacksonville, he had to go to the south campus of UNF but after he crossed the river, instead of turning north, he turned south and when he realized what he’d done (down the road a ways) he just kept going to St. Augustine. (There was a really cool boat junk store down there…)

Coincidentally, Vermont is the only New England state I’ve never set foot in.

But, yes, he got home just fine, if exhausted. Shortly thereafter, he got a call from his mom - she left her phone in his car. She was calling from FIL’s phone, which she refuses to give up for now, but that’s another story.

It’s below freezing this morning, but supposed to get near 60 this afternoon, so if it does, I’ll take the kids to the playground. That’s really my only plans for today. I’ll likely take the boy child to the basement and get a roaring fire going. In fact, I need to head down there before he gets here and do a little roll-sucking to get up last week’s cracker crumbs. I meant to do that yesterday. Dammit.

I should think about supper, too, so I can defrost something.

Happy Tuesday!!

Blah blah blah Valentine’s day.

:rofl:

Good morning everyone.

It’s currently 29 degrees, cloudy and dark outside. There is also snow on the ground. Not a huge amount, but it’s white outside. It did get very windy starting in the late afternoon yesterday, and that wind was bitter!

FCM, I’m glad your sweetie made it home safely!

There isn’t much on the agenda; just work. I might toss a load of blankets in the wash too. These are blankets Polar uses, so I am continually washing them.

Happy Valentines all! I hope your day is terrific!

Mornin, all!

I fear the rest of the day. I hit all green lights on the commute to the shop. That’s like 12 in a row. I’ve used up the luck for the day.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 11c/52f out there with no predicted change all day, and mostly sunny. Yes, the sun does shine on the righteous! Weather app says “Do we talk about the weather because we’re fucking boring?” No, it’s because I want to know the weather app’s opinion every day :slight_smile:

Mooooom I’m glad your sweetie made it home safely, but sorry that he’ll have to back-track to return MIL’s phone :frowning: I expect he’s fed up with being in a car by now.

VanGo so many green lights! What a charmed life you lead :slight_smile:

Taters how is Polar today? Has he recovered from the trauma of his dunk in the bath? And have you recovered from it too?

swampy your VD dinner sounds delicious! I have no idea what we’re having tonight, it’s not my turn to cook but before we get round to dinner, we have a tremendously romantic trip to the supermarket to look forward to.

JtC I am relieved at the lack of meeses! But what else will the mighty hunters bring you instead?

Busy day here, I am trying to co-ordinate a bunch of people (yes, herding cats again) to make sure we all get to York around the same time on Thursday evening as we’re going in advance of a dear friend’s funeral on Friday. We have been told that colourful clothing is encourage and given Pat’s love of all things bright and garish, we have purchase Hawaiian shirts for the occasion.

Lunch has been scoffed (leftovers from last night) and I have an exciting afternoon ahead writing an 800-word expression of interest for that secondment I am interested in. Also have to write up meeting notes and order a bit of IT kit for a team member who’s returning from sick leave and relocating to our office from one of our other buildings. Busy, busy, busy!

Ah, here we are! Finally found the new MMP thread.

Remember this? Well…we’re officially valentines.

Unlike me, he actually likes to drive, and he loves his car. But I do know he’s tired of constantly having to go to his mom’s. I’ll be so glad when the senior apartment is available - it’ll be lots closer - 8 miles vs 21 miles.

Just got Tobias down for a nap. He had a bad night and a cranky morning so I’m hoping he’ll sleep a couple of hours. It’s sunny and warming up nicely - I foresee some vigorous playground time after we get Roxy. Maybe that’ll help him sleep better tonight.

FCD and I continue our string - this is our 40th VD and we continue to treat it like any other day. Because that’s how we roll.

So the late Air was reeeealllly late. Most of it got out, but Jane’s flowers did not, thanks to the sender screwing up the address so bad I couldn’t figure it out. He might want to order something else.

“I teleported home one night
With Rodney, Sid, and Meg
Rod stole Megan’s heart away,
And I got Sidney’s leg” - Douglas Admas,The Hitchhiker’s Guide To the Galaxy

Dr. Lector might be interested. :wink:

Washed the car already this morning. Gotta get that salt/urea off the paint or it builds into a crust and rots your car out from under you. After seven years, this car still looks new and I aim to drive it until one of us is dead. We have indoor basement parking here at the Overlook Hotel and Retirement Home, and there is a car-wash stall down there, which is a nice bennie.

An inch of rain on the way today, then snow tonight. So far, the vaunted MN winter has largely been a bust, other than “up nord” where it’s always brutal. The worst part of it is the potholes, which are quite literally everywhere and impossible to avoid.

And yet, I’m not going to make suggestions for the wine pairing.

Happy Chocolates Go on Clearance Eve! I miss Valentine’s Day–not the gifts from your loved one part (which rarely happened anyway) but the kids part. I miss giving little gifts to my own kids and passing out chocolate treats in my classes. And I miss my dad. We girls would come down to breakfast on V Day and find cards from him on our plates. He always chose each card carefully to suit the recipient. We felt so special! (There was one on Mom’s plate, too.)

My son caught The Crud from his wife a couple of weeks ago and has gotten worse instead of better. The doc put him on antibiotics and prednisone, but it hasn’t improved, so he goes in for chest x-rays today. He got bronchitis and pneumonia when he was a baby and has had asthma ever since, so he’s used to this routine, but I worry anyway.

I’m a tad concerned about my right eye. I’ll spare everyone the details. I’ve upped the prednisone drops, which should help…if it doesn’t make it worse. I’m planning to run errands this afternoon and go to the gym.

swampy, the romantic dinner sounds wonderful. Clearly the way to OYKW’s heart is over his tastebuds.

FCM, how is MIL doing? Since there haven’t been lots of emergency calls to FIL, maybe she’s doing better than before she lost her husband?

BooFae, better to talk about the weather than health woes! [checks post] Oops. I still look forward to those reports from the weather app.

Aw, godbod, that’s sweet! I’m so happy for you!
