Well, we went over to the shop and talked to Paul about the van. We also looked at prices for trucks and we decided to go ahead and have the van fixed. **FCD **is going to be able to do some of the work himself, so that’ll save us a few $, tho not a lot. Still, the only trucks we could afford would be old, high-mileage, likely harboring all sorts of potential $$$ issues. So we’re taking a chance that this repair, which will equal about 3 car payments, will get us at least until October when we could, if absolutely necessary, afford another car payment. At 215K miles, who knows what may fail next. But this is the last major repair. If anything else happens, we’ll just have to suck it up. Anyway, we’ll have it back Monday.
After talking to Paul, we went to a really good Messican restaurant, then to the boat to pick up a tool bag. Now we’re home, alone, vegging. The kids are in Alexandria hanging with friends till late tomorrow. When we get up, we’ll head to Mom’s to do the chores she needs, then get back home in the afternoon, I hope.
I just need some sleep this weekend. And a winning lotto ticket - I need one of those, too. And a hot fudge sundae would be nice. Is that asking too much??
Woot! Home and the weekend has begun. Unfortunately, there is no alcohol in the house and I don’t feel like going back out to get any. I already stopped at the grocery store on the way home and now I just want to stay here.
My daughter is at work and my son is out with friends. Hubby, the dog and I have the house to ourselves.
That sounds like quite the run there, Bobbio. I meant to address it earlier, but I was at work and was rushing through my post.
I’m sorry about the van situation there, **FCM. ** Hopefully, it’ll hold out for just awhile longer after the repairs.
I need a winning lottery ticket as well. I had an ice cream sundae just now, so I don’t need one of those. Well, it wasn’t reaaallly an ice cream sundae. It was one of those “drumstick/sundae cones”. Lucerne brand, but it was still good. I refuse to pay nine dollars for 8 ice creams when I can pay ten dollars for sixteen. That’s why I didn’t go with the primo brand.
Dinner will be whatever the hell I decide to cook! I have spoken.
Aww, sorry about the election, Rosie. At least it’s the weekend, finally. For some reason, this has seemed like an ultra long week to me!
BBBBobbio, that was indeed quite the tale from last night  Hope the patient will be okay, and hope that you’ll be able to catch up on your sleep this weekend.
I had vegetarian Chinese food for dinner tonight - eggplant with garlic sauce. I’d had it before at another restaurant and it was something completely different, although it was pretty tasty. I love to explore a cuisine and will try just about anything. Just about. It was supposed to be spicy but was really quite mild.
Little brother was stuck in Washington and is now on a flight to Columbus instead of to Dayton. I get to go pick him up in 45 minutes or so. He’ll be staying Chez GT tonight and then tomorrow I’ll go drop him off where his car is. Haven’t been to the airport in Dayton in quite some time… Woo hoo.
Work went OK, the two new people haven’t turned evil yet. I got Gordie a smaller Kong and he’s playing with it. See, I jammed a milk-Bone into it. [insert evil smiley]
Happy Caturday! I’m just out of the shower, got to get my hair dried and then head down to the corner shop to get some dessicated coconut. I was quite sure I had some but I can’t find it so I need to get some more. Otherwise coconut macaroon tart will not be made this morning. Then it’s lunch (n.o.L) and off to my friend’s place for an afternoon of garage clearing. Envy me.
Good morning everyone. I’m up, the coffee is brewing, and I’ve taken my shower. I’ll have to dry and style my hair in just a few minutes and then I’ll be ready to go out in public.
My son has a job interview today at 10:40, keep your fingers crossed, please.
Tonight we’re going to see a play with some friends. It should be fun. I’ve gone and seen two other plays at this playhouse. My husband picked the play, so I don’t know what it’s about. I should go look at the website, I suppose.
Other than the above, no real plans that I’m aware of. Of course, I didn’t think we were doing anything tonight and hubby decided just last night that we’d go to the play.
I think my coffee is done. I’m gonna go get a cup.
Been a busy few days over at Chez Mahna. I had a bunch of meetings up in suburbia where, horror of horrors, I was actually expected to listen and even gasp participate. Also, there weren’t enough internet connections to go around, so I couldn’t even log in to follow along with the MMP during the more boring segments.
Yes, I know… I work for some horrible sadistic people. They do pay me and provide a reasonable amount of employee perks, though, so I can’t complain too loudly.
Read everything, retained nothing, hugs and kisses and yays and boos all 'round.
On that note, off I go in search of a Passover-appropriate dairy-free dessert recipe. One without matzoh, preferably.
So, the interview for my son apparently went very well. The guy was going to call the references on my son’s application and resume and plans to call my son back TODAY!
Fingers crossed.
The sun is out and it’s fairly warmish too. It’s so nice to see something besides gray skies and rain.
Yay for Taterson! Appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed.
Whew! I am a tahrd bear! I have been productive. I have spiffed da yahds (front and back) and finished my taxes. Yay me! I’m even gettin’ a couple hunnert bucks back from both the fed and the state. Havin’ paid off da cave, I don’t have quite all the deductions I have had in the past. Still, as long as I don’t owe, I’m happy. That’s’ the real plan.
We need to tackle ol’ y’all know who’s yahd but after what I did today, I cleaned up and am chillin’!
Happy Saturday, everyone. Glad Taterson’s interview went well. Fingers crossed that he’s hired speedily.
Not enough internet connections at a company who’s specialty is communications, IIRC? :dubious: Also, they clearly don’t understand the importance of the MMP in our life.
So, GT’s Bed & Breakfast is closed for the day (IOW, little brother has been safely dropped of at the airport parking lot in Dayton) and I’m back and need to get outside to clean up some and start getting some of my perennials moved to where they need to be (daylilies; they’re not picky about when/where they move to). Also need to plant some more seeds. The petunias that I planted recently have sprouted and now I need to make sure that they have enough light to grow into healthy specimens.
Weather’s lovely today, but there’s a chance of snow Monday and Tuesday.
So, off I go to take inventory and make sure I don’t need to go to the nursery before getting serious in the garden.
Yay for Tater’sSon! Fingers still crossed. Ooh, forgot to tell FCM that I love that tape dispenser…I’ve got some co-workers who would probably try to actually use it though.
I’m just chillin’ today - it’s a bit on the cool side and still windy here. Tomorrow is supposed to be very nice and near 70 so I suspect that most of my running about chores will be done then. I’d been thinking of going to church, it being Palm Sunday and all, but I’ve got several places to go to. We’ll see.
One of my closest friends at work lost her mother Friday morning, unexpectedly. Please keep Evelyn and her family in your thoughts and prayers; she was the oldest child, and very close to her mom.
Comcast.net email appears to be down! Ah well.
Middle of the Christmas season and it’s too bloody cold. If you’re going to get married in December, you go for “the December bridge” (Dec 6-8 plus nearest weekend in most Spain, same but Dec 3-8 for Navarra, same but starting Nov 29 in Pamplona). It’s long enough for people to be able to travel, but you won’t find every. Single. Banquet. Room, hotel and restaurant booked at 100% or even more.
WOOOT!!! My son got the job. The hiring guy called less than an hour after we got home.
I drove him back down to pick up a form that tells him when his “paperwork” and orientation days are. We’ll have to make sure he has “real” ID. He doesn’t have his learner’s permit, so we’ll have to get him a state ID. He’s got his SSN card of course and we already took care of the food handler’s permit too.
Hmm, I’m slightly peckish. I’ll have to hunt for some sustenance.
YAAAAAAAAAAAY Taterson! Welcome to the world of work. And taxes. And annoyin’ cow-orkers. And stoopid customers. And dumbass bosses.
Ok, I’m hongry! We’re goin’ to Ryan’s to belly up to the hog trough, aka have the buffet. I’m hongry enough today to do some damage. I want to eat now! However, I have to wait until 5:30. It’s not fair! I have such a hard life!
