If they stall for a while, they get a catered lunch.
I know it doesn’t work this way, but I have this ongoing fantasy where the jury comes back from deliberations and, in addition to a large monetary award……they tell Guiliani to give them his house keys, then they hand them to Ruby Freeman and her daughter and say….”it’s all yours, along with everything in it”.
From ABC’s feed on the trial…. this one caught my eye.
Sibley (Guiliani’s lawyer) called the testimony of Dr. Ashlee Humphreys, who estimated that the cost to repair the reputations of Moss and Freeman is between $17.8 million and $47.4 million, “patently absurd,” especially given that “people who believe this stuff are still going to believe it no matter what.”
So, is Rudy’s lawyer saying that 47.4 million isn’t enough?
I guess the Jury is not allowed to make a recommendation that is outside of purely monetary guidelines for prior statements.
Sort of like: “We award 25 million for the defamatory statements. We award a further 15 million for the additional defamatory remarks he made on Monday. We further award them and additional 10 million every time Giuliani makes defamatory remarks from now until the day he dies.”
Yeah, but who pays for disinfecting everything? I wouldn’t step foot in his house otherwise.
Math is hard.
Jury breaks for the night.
Back tomorrow.
I just caught up with this thread and saw what you did there .
You missed the opportunity to say, “I saw what you Dido there.”
< golf clap >
Jury is coming back to the court room, they have reached a decision.
The verdict is in 75 million punitive, 20 million compensatory each and 16 million each in addition. Wow!
Over 100 Million!
Holy shit!
… and justice is done.
Of course there will be appeals and maybe even a reduction in the verdict. But this jury has made clear that people who do this deserve to be punished. Severely.
147 million at least. Just wow!
He may as well hand over that manhattan residence to ms freeman and ms moss.
I just hope he doesn’t find a way to hide too much of it.
I hope Ruby and Shaye are having a good day.
$148M
Even if it’s reduced, this will crush Rudy financially. It’s already widely reported he’s in financial distress, and even if some of that is crying poor mouth / hiding assets, this can’t help but be the nail in the coffin.
Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy…
I agree with every word you said.
And he’s already out blathering about how he’s going to prevail on appeal and and and –
Just shut up, Rudy.
LOL, there’s a guy standing behind Rudy with a sign that says, “Big Lie!”
With these judgements (c.f. Alex Jones) to whom does it fall to find the assets? As I understand it neither of them complied with financial discovery. Of course the 2 plaintiffs could sell the debt to the nastiest collector they could find for 20 cents on the dollar and be just fine (financially. They’ll never be fine fine).
“Icarus ignored Daedalus’s instructions not to fly too close to the sun, causing the beeswax in his wings to melt. Icarus fell from the sky, plunged into the sea, and drowned. The myth gave rise to the idiom, “fly too close to the sun.””
Giuliani, OTOH, drank too much and flew too close to Donald Trump. Same ending, though.
