A thread for Rudy {Rudy Giuliani}

Did they say this with a straight face?

I’d forgotten that he’s also facing contempt of court hearings in Washington. And I hadn’t realized that, while he’s turned his car over to the election workers, he hasn’t given them the keys or the title. What a dick.

He’s got nothing left he can bet with.

Hmmmm……

This article mentions that Rudy’s belongings are in a Long Island storage facility called The America First Warehouse.

I pulled up some links and The America First Warehouse does not, on the surface, even appear to be a storage facility. It’s an event space geared to hosting right wing trolls, and they also have an online store that sells a wide variety of overpriced “patriotic” merchandise, including Rudy Coffee - although if “Rudy Coffee” contains the kind of drugs I suspect it does, it may actually be cheap.

They are also trying to sell this Rudy-themed artwork for 50K, good luck with that!

This facility seems so closely tied to Rudy that I suspect he has deep connections to the owners or a hidden financial stake, probably both.

Who would ferret out stuff like this, the plaintiffs or the court?

The plaintiffs. The court has no mechanism for that kind of investigation.

I daresay Rudy’s now-departed lawyers had a sealed hearing with the judge before the dismissal of them as counsel in open court, to explain the reasons for their request to withdraw. Would love to have been a fly on the wall to hear that.

This answers the age old question: if the exact opposite of all that I am and all that I represent were a business entity …

I was thinking marshals might.

From the America First link from above, there’s a video showing Mr. Lobaido earnestly giving Mr. McNaughton a good run for his money. (click on fifth thumbnail)

Marshals and bailiffs enforce court orders. If the plaintiff finds assets of the defendnant, the pliantiff can get the court to issue an order authorisiging the possession, and the marshals or bailiffs can then enforce that order.

But marshals and bailiffs don’t do the investigations. It’s up to the plaintiff to do that.

There’s an entire industry of asset recovery specialists who assist with, among other things collecting on legal judgments. Like these folks:

And when there’s a judgment of $143 M, that’s a strong incentive for asset hunters to start working.

I think it’s doubtful Rudy had that much, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he had money stashed in the Caymans or somewhere.

And two more developments in the Rudy case in NY Federal Court:

  1. The two plaintiffs have alleged that in livestreams, Rudy has continued to defame them. They have applied for him to be held in contempt. That hearing is set for December 12.

  2. The two plaintiffs have alleged that Rudy has continued to refuse to hand over the documents relating to his property that the Court has ordered transferred. The Court has ordered Giuliani to file his response by December 19, for a contempt hearing on January 3.

On this latter point, their filing states:

You know what? That’s unacceptable. He should be disbarr…

…oh. Never mind.

I favor jail. Riker’s Island is nice this time of year.

I’d say that it’s more likely than not that he’ll end up there. You can slap the tiger only so many times before it rips your arm off.

I wonder if any of the mob guys he prosecuted are still there? They would probably let bygones be bygones and laugh and reminisce :smirk:

December 12 has come and gone - I can find no news about this hearing. Did something change?

He got a 30 day extension because he can’t get a lawyer. Says no lawyer will touch it because the judge is so biased against him.

Interesting argument to advance.

Ah. Thanks, I had missed that.

Empty threats yet again? How many times was Trump threatened without any follow through?
