Well, for some reason he was pretty certain he’d get away with murder… now I wonder why…
An op-ed in the New York Times entitled “An Article of Impeachment Against Donald J. Trump” lists nine specific points that would justify bringing impeachment proceedings against thump. And the article goes on to say that the Dems should concentrate on retaking Congress and forget impeachment because the Pubs don’t care.
A reader comment sums up the reality of the situation concisely:
Fine by me.
Hi.
I’m not a Democrat. I’m not an American. I don’t belong to any party that gives two figs about criticisms of the Kennedy or Clinton families, and such things aren’t relevant in my determining where you stand in comparison to, say, annelids. So allow me:
If you supported Trump after he stated he would torture prisoners and have their families put to death, and if you continued to support him after he said Nazis were very fine people, you lack morals.
But don’t feel bad, the Amoral Club has a lot of members. And most of them are rich!
I suspect that a disproportionate / significant amount of Trump and Trumpco’s financial holdings will be in instruments which are subject to the influences of “the Russians”.
Sadly, that appears to be a likely scenario.
I’m sure the “specific thing” is whatever kompromat the Russians have on Trump. IMHO, it’s looking more and more like the legendary “pee tape”. Hear me out:
Stormy Daniels, before she was paid off, said that Trump asked to be spanked with a copy of Forbes. To me, that says that Trump is (privately) into humiliation. And about the most humiliating thing he can probably imagine is getting peed on.
I’m thinking now that it’s a real thing. I don’t know if we’ll ever actually get hold of it, because I’m betting that it’s locked up in the deepest vault Russia’s got, and they’re not letting go of it as long as they can use it to influence Trump. More likely, we’ll only get verification about its existence from one or two FSB agents.
Questions (just for curiosity’s sake) regarding the America-hating fuckstick’s refusals to both submit his finances to scrutiny and to place his assets into a bona fide blind trust so as to make it impractical to enrich himself through his office: would he have more or less incentive to shut down the Mueller investigation if he had followed these norms?
Does the answer vary based on whether he is overly indebted to Russian oligarchs under the influence of Putin?
And how likely is it that his refusal to follow the norms would be informed by any putative overexposure to Russian creditors?
Trump has a decision to make on Russian sanctions:
*
"Russian oligarchs are biting their nails in anticipation of a U.S. Treasury report outlining new sanctions to be enacted Monday on certain Russian business entities and friends of the Kremlin.
However, the Trump administration, which has been characterized as dragging its feet on punitive measures against Russia, is unlikely to enact the most stringent measures recommended in the legislation, analysts have told CNBC. "*
Long story short, Trump has to enact (at least) 5 sanctions (more is permitted) from a list of 12 possibilities, and the assumption is that he will choose the ones that blunt the sanctions most. But, assuming a “no collusion” scenario where there is absolutely no reason that Trump is beholden to Russia, why would he attempt to choose the sanctions that hurt least? We have the president of the United States attempting to minimize sanctions against a foreign entity for no apparent legitimate reason.
McCabe is “stepping down” from heading FBI effective today. Indications are that this was not a voluntary decision.
Correction: McCabe is the Deputy Director, so he doesnt “head” the FBI.
Indeed. Apologies.
McCabe was planning to retire in March, AIUI. Why fire the guy now? I know trying to make sense of Trump’s actions is a fast path to insanity, but there must be some stated reason…
ETA: The Hill suggests that McCabe isn’t eligible for full retirement benefits unless he stays till March. Stay classy, Donald!
I just read that he is “on leave” until March when he can take full benefits.
Thanks for the correction. I’ll retract my reflexive anti-Trump snark. For now.
I mean, it’s generally a safe bet. Plus, I don’t think we have enough details yet to know that you’re wrong.
My understanding is McCabe is stepping down from his appointed Deputy Director position but will remain an FBI employee until he can take his full retirement in March.
And not the judgments that just order him to pay - because he won’t. I want the kind of judgments that seize.
I want him to be totally ruined and broke. Destitute, publicly humiliated, totally cut off from any possible source of money, no health care, … nothing but humiliation and starvation.
But Obama never betrayed our trust by giving Putin everything he wants - including our secrets. Obama never sold us out for dirty Russian money. I will trust the supposed “Commie Kenyan Mooslum Murrica Hater” before I trust a lying money grubbing traitor.
