Of course Trump knew about the meeting. He was concerned about Russian adoptions as much as any American and was shocked, SHOCKED when he found out the wench’s true motives. He then started a disinformation campaign on the Russians! Yeah, that’s the ticket! He was helping the FBI when he asked for Russian help to find Hillary’s emails! Paraphrasing the words of the immortal Admiral Ackbar, it was a trap!

Giuliani said we can’t believe Cohen because he is an established liar. So, their actual defense is that Cohen has spent so many years lying on behalf of Trump that we shouldn’t believe him.

Would like to remind people that a few hours after Trump Jr scheduled the meeting, on June 7th, 2016, Trump Sr gave a statement announcing an upcoming speech which would expose all kinds of shit about Hillary and her emails.
The speech was canceled, the Pulse night club shooting given as a reason, and never given. (Hint: because the meeting was a bust.)

They’ve been keeping this up fairly reliably through the whole thing. Once they figure that the cat is going to be out of the bag one way or the other, they release it so they can start fighting it early.
It also makes the justice system look like it’s full of leakers with political motivations.
