I followed those links to see what the big-ass knot that we used in my catholic high school was called. They just send me to ties.com home page. Via “go.redirectingat.com”. Is that what replaced whatever SDMB used to use?
Dershowitz does a lot of ass ventriloquism.
Perhaps Trump wants to go to Moscow, and STAY THERE. Though at this point I’m not sure who wants to fry his ass most. If he doesn’t get things done for Russia, he’s gonna be in trouble. I he stays in the US, well he would still get to live (Unless Russia gets him over here. Be careful of rainy days and umbrellas.) I think he’s pretty much fucked either way. ![]()
That would be so damn wonderful. But first, financially wiped out and publicly/completely humiliated. So bad he can never recover.
SHAME! SHAME! SHAME! SHAME!
Donnie, Donnie… take a pill or something.
Trump decries Mueller probe as an ‘illegal Scam’
Would that be as opposed to a 'legal Scam," [note capitalization of “Scam”] i.e., the kind you are so good at?
Blah, blah blah.
Gosh, I wonder when he’ll be sitting for his interview with the Mueller team?
Now the Kochs have abandoned him and are funding the opposition, as well as likely encouraging McConnell to think about impeachment after the mid-terms, he probably figures his only chance is to rally his base. No matter how many additional counts of obstruction it may bring.
I’ve been doing this since my dad, who tied two for me, died around twenty years ago when I was in high school.
Word of advice: do not loan your perfect-knotted tie to your son to wear to a wedding. It will come back untied and reeking of beer.
Are you suggesting that Trump walk naked through the streets, accompanied by a nun ringing a bell and saying “shame!”? I’m all for pelting him with garbage but I’m willing to grant clemency on the naked part.
Eh, a loincloth would be fine. I can do without seeing his 72-year-old junk, thanks very much.
I don’t know who’s right, but if Avenatti runs for President on this, I will personally not be voting for him.
We all like him as the guy loud enough and narcissistic enough to go toe to toe with Trump, but neither of those things is actually an indication of being a particularly good person. To be fair, it sounds like he has won a bunch of court cases, so he’s probably not an idiot, but I wouldn’t bet that his ethics are unimpeachable for a boyscout.
I don’t care for Avenatti, who’s a blatant showboat. He’s just trying to make a name for himself.
Of course he’s just trying to make a name for himself. But if he happens to do some good in the process, hey, great. Better than making a name for himself by running the greatest country in the world into the ground.
Can somebody explain to me what “nasty & contentious business relationship” Mueller and Trump had?
My cross-post from the Butt Hurt thread:
*Oh, it’s old, stupid news.
Apparently there was a fee dispute between Mueller and one of Trump’s golf courses years ago. Mueller simply dropped his membership.
Also, Mueller left employment from the law firm that represents Jared Kushner to take the job as Special Counsel. Obviously Kushner’s lawyer is a different lawyer in that firm than Mueller.
Lastly, Trump claims that Mueller was butt hurt because Trump interviewed Mueller for the FBI position to replace Comey and was disappointed when he wasn’t picked. What Trump never mentions is that Mueller only interviewed for the job at Trump’s invitation. He was not actively seeking the Director’s job again after having held it for 12 years.
Mueller ran all these concerns past the DOJ ethics folks before accepting his position. According to DOJ, none of the issues rose to the level of being an actual conflict of interest.
Trump’s legal team could also ask a judge for a formal legal determination of conflict of interest. You’ll notice they’ve never done that.
This is all about sowing doubt about the integrity of Mueller’s investigation, and nothing else. *

The problem is that showboat Avenatti is now beginning to cross lanes with Mueller, who’s trying to keep a low profile and just present the facts - that’s a far more effective strategy. In a way, Avenatti’s ‘show’ threatens to overshadow and even potentially discredit Mueller in the eyes of the public. I think Avenatti could harm more than help
I don’t know. I sometimes think a show is the only way to get through to some people. If it’s not a spectacle they don’t watch. And if it wasn’t Avenatti, some of the true believers would just find some other reason to discredit Mueller.
It’s not the true believers I worry about; it’s people who are basically good but either only half-ass care or are just plain gullible. Mueller’s relentless pursuit of truth and justice, and maintaining the appearance of neutrality, are going to be far better tools. No, the true believers won’t believe, but they were never going to. They don’t matter. It’s everyone else in the audience. Showman lawyers like Avenatti and showman journalists Michael Wolff makes every Trump critic just a little less credible, because everyone can see that they’re just trying to get their own airtime. To some extent, you could even say this of James Comey with his book tour. The more that people assume that Trump’s critics are just seeking attention, the less credible they become.
