I missed all the news that day anyway; I was out hiking the Tennessee Trail.
A couple of observations regarding the recent events.
Trump is really really stupid. I know this isn’t a news flash, but this man, who ran for President, has NO CLUE how campaign finance laws work. Because his latest public defense regarding the Cohen pay-offs is “I used my own money*, not campaign money!” He doesn’t realize that IS the crime. Because the allegation is that the money was used to further his goal of becoming President but it was not reported s a campaign expense. Which is illegal. And while the prosecutorial position isn’t ironclad, it is strengthened by the tape Avenatti released in which the Problem of the Loud-Mouthed Women is being discussed as a campaign issue. Ironically, if he HAD used campaign money he might have been in a better position legally.
- which is at odds with the Cohen plea as the payments came from the Trump Organization. Which, to President PeePee, is a distinction without a difference. But legally its not because IIRC, a campaign contribution by the Trump Organization would be treated like any other campaign contribution by an outside entity and treated differently than money a candidate contributes directly to his own campaign.
ETA- I just realized I was ninjaed a little bit by jsc1953 on this point.
And if you read the details of the Cohen plea deal, he basically nailed the Trump Organization to the wall on at least one count of tax fraud. Because of the way Cohen was reimbursed. He conspired with the Trump Organization to collect payment on fraudulent invoices for legal services. Which were probably written off as legal services on the Trump Organization tax returns.

BTW, the Qanon twitter feed is getting really amusing…the idiots are still “trusting the plan” but getting confused by recent events. Although I’m starting to suspect that Q and 90% of the Qanon followers are liberal trolls getting over on a handful of the stupidest people in the country. BTW, do you know why Trump now tweets about 17 angry Democrats instead of 13? Because Q is the 17th letter of the alphabet. Which totally confirms the plan and vindicates the Q movement.
I haven’t actually counted to see whether Q is really the 17th letter of the alphabet, but if it’s not the Q followers would still believe it was.

Also, just to avoid misunderstandings; I was channeling MAGAbots with that post. I will never have that kind of money and even if I did, I’d like to think I’d pay my fair share.
The other interesting thing about his comments in the article Derleth quoted: Trump says he has many friends who have “flipped”.
That is, the President of the United States is friends with a lot of convicted criminals.
QAnon himself at least is definitely a troll. They originally put some effort into their con, making sure to predict thing that Trump would tweet and stuff like that. But then, as time went on, they could just put out nonsense and it would be “interpreted” for them. The interpreters could be trolling, too.
That said, I don’t know if they’re liberal or just “for the lulz” of fooling so many gullible people. If I were doing it as a liberal, I’d try to steer them a different direction, making them actual liberal supporters. Maybe posit that this Trump isn’t the real Trump but a replacement and that real Trump is behind the scenes helping the liberals or something.
