According to Politico, Senate Republicans will allow Trump to fire Jeff Sessions after the mid-terms…if not before then.
I saw this earlier. My feeling, after stewing on it for a few hours, is that they think he’s got his finger on the trigger and they’re trying to talk him down. If telling him that they’ll let him do it in a couple months will get him over the hump, then it’s worth it to keep him from turning the world upside down just before the midterms.
I think this is pretty much it. The republicans still support Trump at this point. They want to get through the midterms and maintain a majority.
But lets go a little farther. There is no way Mueller can get to Trump himself in the little time left before November, but there are plenty of other fish to fry. Plenty. How about Jared? Or Natasha? Mueller could expose Trump’s Russian dealings without bringing Ill Duce anywhere near a courtroom. Cohen confirmed Trump’s campaign crimes. Lil’ Donnie would sing like a bird I bet and they don’t get this “can’t subpoena a sitting president” protection crap.
I would even speculate that pleading guilty quickly, could be held out to the little bastards as a smart thing to do. After all Trump can’t hand out pardons after he’s been run out or forced to resign. Better plead now while Daddy is president.
There’s some merit to that view. Some of his children seem “intelligent” enough to go for that logic. I think Trump would totally lose his mind if that happened.
I predict that Mueller will steadily push out indictments and news from the investigation right up to the deadline and then the states will take over.
I think we can expect Trump the Unhinged as we’ve never seen him between now and November. I hope that this means real change is voted in at the election.
